So, a quick recent follow-up on this tent. Overall I am very pleased, I have used it about 8 times in the past 18 months and am very satisfied.... except for one critical point... the fiberglass rods are a weak point! The two lengths that support the main section have developed cracked sections, I replaced six sections so far and at nearly $30 for four sections I am nearing the cost of the tent itself ( I purchased two repair kits). I have had no other issues or problems with this tent except for the fiberglass rods. I did contact the manufacturer and Walmart... heard nothing but crickets! I recently went camping... when tearing it down I noticed two more sections that have hairline cracks starting to show. My son had purchased this same model a few weeks ago, I told him that if he had the receipt he should return it and get his money back... he did. I recently purchased an instant cabin style tent, hopefully, it will fair better than the dome tent. If you go camping with this dome tent take a fiberglass rod repair kit with you!
Thank you very much for your input and information! I appreciate that greatly! So far for me I haven't had any issues whatsoever, but I will be taking a closer look at the rods now and possibly spray them with a silicone protectant spray to try to prevent them from drying and cracking. Thanks again!!
Cracked rods. Boy, am I familiar with that. Thought those days would have been gone by now and improvements would have been made. I wasn't aware of fiberglass rod repair kit though. Thank you! I will be purchasing a kit.
@@wickedrepairs8527 The rods do not crack because they "dry out." Silicone spray will do nothing to mitigate the rod's cracking. They crack because of poor design. They crack at the apex of the curve where the rods insert into the metal ferrules. If the metal ferrules would be designed with a compensating bend it would reduce the amount of stress on the rods at the insert point. This is something I am going to attempt to do with mine.
I just wanted to thank you so much for being so thorough in the set up of this tent. I bought the same model for my family for emergency situations. We went through hurricane Michael back in 2018 and a tent such as this would have really helped us out in the aftermath. I also purchased a tee pee tent for camping (not arrived yet)....but you know what? After watching your video I'm ready to get out there and say "forget waiting for an emergency!" Let's do it tonight and camp in the yard! New subscriber.
Thats excellent!! So far so good for us! No cracked rods or issues, it has been really great for us. I've been so busy this year, I haven't got a chance to use it!! Not happy about that 🤣 Hopefully soon we will get out and enjoy the great outdoors!! Thank you!
I subbed! I enjoyed how easily you explained the demonstrative process. It was just yourself so set-up would easily shorten with help. I was checking reviews and this was the video I watched; so I purchased. 👍🏾😂 Edit: Your calves are amazing! 💯
Thanks so much, i appreciate it! It's definitely much easier with 2 people but manageable alone. I was able to use it in very high winds in upstate New York on Lake Champlain and in October and it was fantastic. Good luck, I hope you enjoy it! Thank you for the compliment! I appreciate it! 👍😊
I have the same model tent, have set it up by myself a dozen times or so, takes me 15 minutes or less... you make it way harder than necessary. I.e., loosely stake the four corners of the tent first, this helps to stabilize the tent when installing and raising the flex poles, after the poles are inserted and erected you can reposition the stakes. Suggestions: waterproof it! The tent and the fly... I treat mine twice a year. Don't over stretch the tent when staking it out, stretching too tight will strain the seams to the point of tearing and/or opening the stitching enough for rain to seep in. Get better tent pegs... and a few extra's.... trust me, I know from experience. I use a double ground cover, first is a big sheet of construction plastic, and then on top of that i put a heavy duty tarp, then the tent on top. Once the tent is up and staked roll the edges of the ground cover until they are at least an inch or two under the edges of the tent, that way rain water will run off the tent and fly and onto the ground, if the ground cover extends beyond the tent edge then it will act as a catch for the rain water and it will pond around and under the tent possibly leaking into the tent. I cover the inside floor with 2x2 foam floor tiles, makes it very nice inside. Double check all your inside seams to make sure they have seam tape, I had one two foot section that somehow was skipped when it was made, first camping trip and it leaked about a tablespoon of water into the tent from a brief shower.
Thanks so much for the information! I truly appreciate it. Its does only take 15 min or less for sure, took me a bit longer making the video as well as the wind, however lightly staking the corners will definitely help wit that. I did buy a couple cans of waterproofing spray. I swear by that stuff! It's great. Thanks!
Great, I have a lot of high end hiking tents but bought this one for the family. It’s actually my most inexpensive tent and I was afraid it was going to be “cheap”. A lot of good reviews AO I’m looking forward to camping in it next week.

You did a great job and remained calm doing it solo. The inside floor is not attached? Looks like I see sun and that would mean bugs 😮 What do you do about it being open? Thank you
Thank you very much! At first I did not have the rain fly on it and that will let a ton of sun in, and rain of course. It is all attached and sealed 👍 No worries there. The bottom is waterproof up to 5 inches or so I believe as well.
We did not have any leaks in ours and our last day camping was a total wash with thunderstorms. It stayed dry inside. So far we are loving it all around.
Absolutely! Thank you, I appreciate you leaving a comment! I'll be in the tent next week, can't wait! My oldest son turns 11 and he wants to go camping! 👍 Win win for everyone 🤣
Definitely more cumbersome to set up than an ozark 6 person tent. Would definitely have the floor covered addendum on the porch and put the roof cover on.
I've always staked it last. To me I feel I get it more snug, plus if I want to slightly move it after it's up, it makes it easier. Would definitely help on a windy day for sure!! Thanks!
If you are going to make a video that the whole world is going to see, you really need to plan out the logistics of the video. Fast forward parts that do not need to be shown in slow motion, slow down and really show the things that are important, it was really hard to sit through this video
Ok, thanks. I will take that into consideration. This is the first time anyone has ever mentioned that. I have had many tell me how they like that I don't fast forward or skip. 🤷♂️ I just try to make good and informative videos. I have 3 Channels and 2 are pretty successful. I must be doing something right 😆
This is the worst tent ive ever set up. Idk of im just retarded or what but its pissing me off so bad. The loops wont even stay to the ground I re adjusted the steaks so many times. Like its actually mad.
Thats really strange. I have always found it very easy to set up. I would take a closer look just to be sure the correct poles are in the correct spots. Unless there is something defective.

Good tips, I am just starting and brought this model today , keep sharing all good tips and tricks.
I also own this tent, which I routinely pitch/strike by myself. WAY easier to do if you stake it first (per the instructions, BTW)

Just got this tent today going to try it on Christmas weekend see how it goes
Thats great! I think you will like it! Been great to us so far! Enjoy!
How can I find out what size replacement poles for this tent I need
I would think you should be able to go straight through Ozark trail and get them. I will try to see if I can find out
Would have loved to see if is waterproof been some ppl saying if it rains for more than 20 minutes it starts too leak
We did not have any leaks in ours and our last day camping was a total wash with thunderstorms. It stayed dry inside. So far we are loving it all around.
Needed this video thanks for sharing!
Excellent! Youre welcome!
Do the poles have to go through the loops in the middle of the tent on both sides?
Yes, I do believe they should!
Thanks for the great video!

Well done there sir 😊😊😊😊
👍 Thank you!! Just used it again a couple weeks ago, absolutely love this tent!
let's go let's go adventure ✌👵
Yes!! Thanks for swinging by here Kelly!! I love this tent! Ready for camping season!!
Do u happen to have the length of the polls?
@lindsaykrug1510 I do not. It's packed away at the moment or I'd measure. I'd say a rough measurement would be 8 ft or so.
How tall n wide r this tents doorways?
Never measured the doorway but I can check to see if it's on the bag. I'd say roughly 5 foot by 5 foot

I agree with you for sure, I had the 6 person also for a few years. It is important to have the roof cover on!!
I just bought this tent for the 4th of July and I could not get it up …… I will try again before I throw it out
Oh no, I hope the video helps you out!
How big is the tent without the front porch for a floor tarp?
16.5 ft x 8 ft. That is without the porch area.
Can this tent be locked (to protect your belongings if/when you leave the campsite)?
I dont know of any tents that lock. You could put a small padlock on the zipper pull holes. That would be the only way for most if not all.
Right because no one would cut a hole in your tent and steal your things ….. you need a cabin or camper
Why is he wearing a tampon around his neck?
Pretty clearly not a tampon lol It's a green aventurine pendant. Thank you
@@wicked_digger only saw a glimpse of it no offense intended, ppl do and wear weird things now days. It was a legit question.
In case he gets shot

Sorry, guess I was more just showing how to put it together rather than focus on the tent itself. It is roomy and set up nicely.
