I was 17 when my nephew died of SIDS while I was babysitting him. He was 3 1/2 months old. Fast forward many years and I still won't babysit a child who's under a year old, not even my own grandchildren. The thought of losing another child on my watch terrifies me.

I lost my second child to SIDS at the age of 4 months. It is soul destroying and then to have police swarming all over your home, watching your every move and only lose their suspicion after an autopsy , it has a lasting impact on your life. Adults can also die from SIDS so I agree that sleep apnea may play a part but it isn’t the only thing. My son had had a chest infection a week or so before he died which had been treated with antibiotics. Nowadays we have experts saying babies shouldn’t sleep on their tummy’s, mothers shouldn’t drink coffee or smoke during pregnancy and so on. Any way you look at it, losing a baby is a tragedy which no family should have to experience or endure.

I had sids when I was a baby. I was born in 1993. I had to wear a heart monitor 24/7 and I died multiple times. If my mom hadn't learned infant cpr, and got to me in time to revive me, every time my heart stopped, I wouldn't be here today. I have an 11 year old and because of what happened to me when I was a baby, I wouldn't sleep at night when my daughter was born because I was terrified that she would stop breathing. I would sit up all night just watching her sleep and I would have my mom watch her for a couple of hours for me to take a nap during the day. I was a sleep deprived mess for the first year of her life, but she's a beautiful, happy, healthy little girl and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat ❤

I have 3 children and stories like this make me feel physically ill and also totally enraged.
I know full well how stressful and frustrating parenting can be, especially when your kids are babies and you add exhaustion on top of everything else. There were a few times when my children were babies that I had to step outside for a minute, take a few deep breaths and get myself together. So yeah, it can be overwhelming, but at no point could I have ever hurt my babies, let alone kill them. I can't even imagine. That's just so evil.

If your baby is crying you pick them up and cuddle them and rock them, sing to them, talk to them.....they don't cry for no reason. They may feel lonely and need attention and affection. It's very easy to soothe them with love. When I was a young mum in the early 1970s we didn't let our babies cry for any more than a few minutes. When tired we took them into bed with us and rested together......they just want to be with you.

My mum and grandmas were different, my mother in law too. The sooner we soothed our babies the sooner they would settle down to sleep. I bathed them in the evening in winter and dried and dressed them by the warm fire. They night clothes were warmed by the fire and their cots warmed with a hot water bottle. After that final feed they'd be wrapped up warmly and couldn't stay awake. There were times we had to take them for a drive in the car which also settled them into sleep as did going for a walk in their big old fashioned pram with the springs which made the ride comfy and smooth. How I miss those days. My kids are all in their 40s now. @@rjay7019

Was this woman all alone? No friends or other family members that could help and take the load off? Whilst husband is away at work. You don’t kill your child just because you can’t stand it’s crying. You get help. And that doctor? Based his entire research on “one” single family’s case? That’s absurd, talk about tunnel vision. That nurse was the only one that was right in this entire case.

even today people are not taking struggling mothers seriously and this was 1960's-1970's, even worse situation considering mental health (and even if she wanted help, who knows what would they suggest - e.g. lobotomies were still popular just a decade ago)

      something fishy about this story..
she died of cancer..perhaps it was environmental they go to great length to cover it..remember the salt deaths? each child took a combination of ibuprofen and anti-sickness meds by johnson + Johnson they brought in an 'expert'
to say they all killed their children by giving them salt..ridiculous..they spent time in jail before this was challenged the high salt in their blood ed caused by the combination of the meds..it was also proven that know one had ever killed their baby by salt and it was impossible to do
have police not fitted up people?
I've seen it happen several times in us I mean not every story we hear is true..remember Jon Ramsey case
guy was paid to present evidence saying DNA could have been from factory I didn't believe that famous investigator

Being the parent of a child that passed away from SIDS, it's heart-rending to this day. That happened 45 years ago. I have 4 adult children that all had apnea monitors after birth. All had treatments for asthma when they were young, and three out of four still have problems with asthma. I'm not sure if I would say it's genetic, but asthma and allergies may cause SIDS.

    • @oAgL214

Nutritional deficiencies in the mother can cause allergies, asthma and SIDS in infants. All 3 are connected. "vitamin D, vitamin C and E play a role in not only the development of asthma but also the severity and frequency of asthma attacks"
Allergies? Vitamin D deficiency will affect allergies and lastly, the most severe, SIDS. mothers severely deficient in thiamine, taking b complex is extremely important during pregnancy. People don't realize how a bad diet during pregnancy can affect your child long-term. I know many women can't keep food down but there's other ways to supplement.

My daughter suffered asthma and went through fazes of apneia ... She suffered allergies also... It was terrifying... I got support and eventually she grew out of it all...No allergies or asthma since she was 12yrs old, She's 32 yrs now ... Her Father was the same as a baby/Child but didn't need inhalers once he hit his 20'ies..I feel it is hereditary but varies for each generation..

The chances of two parents losing five children to CIDS
has to be astronomical not to mention impossible. I would be looking very closely at the parents because this has never happened since this disease has been detected.
Not for one minute do I believe it even exists, many doctors will say the same but privately.
Now that most mothers and fathers have monitors in their child's room connected perhaps now we will see what's really happening .
For all those children that have died ,RIP little ones ❤
Munchausen's biproxy sounds as bad as Stockholm syndrome . Originally the police did a pisspoor job because that mother should never had a chance to have other children , her and the doctor should have been jailed before it even happened. Maybe she was just a monster.
Don't anyone feel sorry for her because this was premeditated please feel sorry for the dead young children.

    • @thrgost
      @thrgost 7 місяців тому

Pathologist said three died from sids, one choked, and one had pneumonia. It's also not impossible. Michael Baden has also been proven to over-accuse parents of abuse (Munchausen is almost nearly always bullshit dx) and infanticide, Kathleen Folbigg being a famous case in recent news. I'm sure there will be a time in the near future where sids will be explained better - as human genome will give precise and exact deficits and anomalies present in every baby, but since tiny little people are very sensitive to fluctuations in their body and regulating these variations is far more difficult for them, often times leaving no trace as these still fall within acceptable parameters, we're stuck with 'sids' as the best explanation... For now.
Just seen where woman admitted killing her own children - that doesn't change the facts I've stated. Baden is still over-zealous accusing women of abuse, and while highly improbable, three deaths from sids (according to pathologist) isn't impossible. And five would also be improbable and unlikely, but whatever has caused three deaths could conceivably cause five, given they share the same genetics.

King James version. Sids was called overlayed.. they thought it was the result from the mother being neglectful....
So yes the bible does reference sids
      Kings 3:16-28
Another edit... lol 😂 it's the story of the two grieving mothers who claimed the child as being theirs. So king Solomon said he would cut the surviving child in 1/2 and give a 1/2 to each of them. And the real mother begged him not to do it.
