  • "Exhibit A" quadruple episode:
Ep 1 - A three and a half-year-old child is reported missing. After a 20-day search, her body is found floating in Toronto harbour. Fibre evidence found throughout the child's clothes plays a crucial role in solving this crime and convicting a child killer.
EP 2 - An Ottawa journalist champions early parole for a convicted murderer and in the tradition of a cheap romance novel, ends up falling in love with him. After he's released, the two move in together. Then she mysteriously disappears. Where else would suspicion fall but upon the ex-con lover?
Ep 3 - An intruder breaks into a family home in a well-to-do Calgary neighbourhood. When he's confronted by the owner, the burglar stabs him to death. The killer flees leaving behind several smudged prints on a window that appear to be left by a pair of gloves. Can these help nail a murderer?
Ep 4 - "Tragedy of Errors" focuses on the forensic skills of two blood spattering experts, who not only teach at the police college in Ottawa - but are still active in the field. The difference between academic knowledge and the reality of an actual crime scene is brought to life in this intriguing episode.

No one was watching Emily. That child was left outside after all the other children were heading up to their respective homes. If I was part of a neighborhood watch, I wouldn't take my eyes off of any child until all the children were with their repective parents or guardians. You don't leave children alone with other children. This is a parents worse nightmare.

Exactly. I once had to live in an apartment complex for a couple months with my small children during the purchase of my new home I felt like the only parent in the whole complex looking after so many other children. This was only back in 2002 not in 1970s when everybody let us kids run around til the streetlights went on. It was sad and shocking to see that some older single men watching the kids at the pool etc or play in common areas. Not their kids

Since it was a tight knit community and the last person who saw that Emily would be alone after they called their child inside they should have alerted the babysitter, or even taken Emily into their home and waited for the parent to come back, but not leave the young child on her own in the courtyard!

I was just reading up on the actual case, and Kayla/Emily's mom was forever tormented by her death. She was driven into an early grave at the young age of 55 , May 11th, 2023. David Wayne Snowdon, applied and thankfully was denied for an early parole in 2022.

Yes that's exactly what I was just thinking. . I understand that the neighbors look out for all the kids but ultimately the babysitter was responsible for that little girl. Yes, I’m afraid I am of the same opinion. 3 is way too young, I had a garden to play in when youung so I was lucky, I was 10 and over when allowed out with friends to play in the road, cars were minimal in those days, early 70’s. You can never rely on ‘people to watch’ from a distance, unless they are glued constantly, there are always opportunists lying in wait. When a child is outside. Us as neighbors are responsible in protecting that child making sure they are safe. Whoever the last parent was that called their child inside for dinner or whatever, should have never left that girl alone out there. You either wait with them until they are picked up or you call their parents to see if they would like you to take them home for them. Or if an emergency happened maybe they might want you to watch them a while. There is a bus stop by my house thats on the corner of a busy street. I pause my work and go outside to sit on my porch to make sure they all get on the bus safely. Im not a parent and im not sure if I ever will be, but if I know kids are nearby i try my best to keep an eye on them because all it takes is 1 second and they disappear. If this happened at the bus stop by me and we found them dead after. I would blame myself and never forgive myself for not stopping for a few minutes just to make sure they make it safely.

This happened a long time ago, in a world that was nothing like it is today. Judge them by the time they actually lived in then, not the current times. A child sleeping alone in their bed all night long with parents present in the home is without "direct adult supervision", too. You would think that they're safe, but still - abductions happen. No child in history has been watched by a set of adult eyes every second 24-7 throughout the first years of their lives. Mom has to take a shower or a nap while the baby takes a nap, and that means that the child is without direct adult supervision for a short while. I don't mean to shock you, but that still happens every day everywhere.

@@Kari.F.In 33 years society hasn’t really changed. There were no more or less monsters out there then, than there are now. Because of the internet, we may hear more about them now than we did then. As far as dangers from outside, about 90% of victims of violence, know their attackers. Also, there’s a mountainous difference in being inside with your family, than being outside with no adults in sight. Not only, did no adults see her being taken, but no children witnessed it either. She had ZERO adult supervision. At 3 years old, there are many things a child needs protection from. She could have chocked on something, been poisoned or attacked by a dog. You don’t leave a 3 year old unattended, especially outside.

I believe because of all the parents watching. The way it's done where I am - when the parents call their children in one by one, eventually dwindling down to the last few children. The last parents stay and make sure the rest are united with theirs before they go inside. Or they call the parent to see if they want them to take them home for them. That's how it's done where I am and should be done in other places too. No way should they leave a child there alone. The way it should be is the moment a child is outside of their home, the neighborhood should protect them. So maybe they had something in place like that, but someone decided not to stay or something. We don't know

Theirs were already inside. I think if the last person to call their child up, maybe should have already so told Emily it's time to come up as well. These other mother's were each other's look out.

As a parent, they would know what this neighborhood is like would and would you not think “I’m not going to leave this child outside by herself because I wouldn’t want someone to do that to my child”?!?
