Looks like it walked right off the screen. Just received mine, and I love it. If you don't want the toon look, you may want to look at another figure. That's why we have choices. This is what Magic Square is known for. Nice video
It’s was awesome meeting you at TFCON Baltimore with my son Bobby!,we purchased the last dinobot Sherpa from you and were having trouble getting the payment app to work, and I love your artwork my man, thank you 🌞
What a great start to the morning! I get an email that my copy of this is out for delivery, and then I see a Bobby Skullface review of it so I can know what to look forward to when I get off work. Even though I don't always agree with him about what is most important in a figure, Bobby's reviews are so good that I can watch them and learn if something is right for my collection. Keep doing that great work!
After my light of freedom(lof) fell on the shelve and the elbow broke they sent replacement after only two emails I got it so I can’t really hate that’s awesome not too many companies will do that it’s respectable and if u went and talked to them I bet they’d listen to u Susan is really appreciative and nice easy to talk to about this stuff
The transformation, engineering, articulation, proportions, and sculpt all remind me of IronStar (Deformation Space, Star Toys). Right down to the tight tolerances due to paint. I wonder if that designer works for Magic Square.
Oh Jesus no. I was living in fear they would do that. Big patch of blue paint didn't look good on the small scale. Would have ruined the fiqure at this scale.
I totally agree with a lot of what you're saying, with lack of detail, (but that's screen accurate for you) but I do it think its a bit disingenuous when you say its "more on the souless side" when you have swindle in a boring A stance, and have Brawl in more dynamic pose. When this thing looks amazing in poses and has a ton of personality shining through, especially with his team mate in image, but each to their own. I'm all in on this set
Swindle being a toon design with less detail made me love this figure initially, but my initial reaction when I opened the box was that it looked really smooth (and not in a good way). After some posing and a face swap, he looked better. Brawl has more detail in his toon design and it translates better to a 3D object IMO than swindle with all his flat panels. I wonder how the rest will translate
Those legs were an absolute bear on my legends scale version. Everything else is kind of as you'd expect from MS. Not painting the window on the scale was definitely a misstep, though.
In my opinion this is a very good TF action figure, if MS keeps this quality up they may become a serious contender to the Fans Toys empire. Deformation Space also looked like they where going to contend with FT but they release two molds (a seeker mold means loads of characters from the exact same mold) and then went away. I know MS doesn't use die cast and the paint finish is different from FT but even so the look in both modes is very good and the overall engineering is normally better so in the end for someone who rather display than play with their their figures and who prefers a more toon look will be very satisfied with the MS renditions. I can feel the disappointment in your voice throughout the review Bobby and, as you explained yourself, I know your disappointment isn't related to the quality but to the look. Thanks for the review Mr. Skullface. P.S. The only thing that really bothers me is the lack of up and down articulation in the feet.
I agree 100% about Magic Square. I've always like their Legends figures, and the quality of their upscaled figures just keeps improving. They've got a huge catalogue of designs already, and if they can give all of them this kind of treatment I think they'll make a lot of collectors very happy.
The reason Magic Square's Brawl has more surface details than Swindle is because Brawl's original cartoon model had more surface details than Swindle's. If you look at the cartoon model, all of Brawl's details are 1:1 with the character model.
I got two of them and the part that plugs in to the thigh is an absolute bitch on both of them. Idk if I don't have them aligned right, but I've watched several videos and have tried to mirror them. I have them in place, but it was frustrating as can be
The lack of detail (different colors, greebles, etc.) is disappointing, but it's definitely G1 Swindle to a T. Love the alternate face. Helps that Swindle is such a fun character.
The combined mode on these is so lazy and completely ruins the whole "toon accuracy" discussion for their bruticus. It wont look anything like the cartoon when combined. But they did a good job on that aspect otherwise. Thanks for the review.
@BingBong67489 except in all the ways it's not? Like swindle looks nothing like the leg in the toon and neither will brawl unless they throw in some covers to make them look right. MMC got the coloring pattern and design right on the limbs that everyone else treats as an afterthought
Haha, I don’t like the faces on this one either! The knees are too gappy, it doesn’t have that inner joint part that fans toys and Tt use. Also the purple/mustard are too dull and the black parts too dark and shiny. Should’ve been done in a matt charcoal/ matt black combo imo.
Lack of detail really kills this, im over the toon look. I love details in my transformers, makes them look like transformers. This is where the market is going so I know im the minority.
I am in agreement with you, I never really liked the toon aesthetic, I don’t want my figures super stylized either but I do want something of an updated take on them. Still glad to have options and I’ll wait to see with the finished version looks like before buying them.
Can't stand kibble transformers with panels and sticky out bits They just look lame I want toon That's why people like me buy these If you want Hasbro then go and enjoy their stuff
@@sw1000xgit’s all subjective. I just want something in the middle, I personally never really liked the super toon asthetic just too simplistic for me personally, but I know there are a lot of people out there that love the toon design, fortunately plenty of options as fans these days

Swindle definitely misses the mark compared to Brawl. It definitely seems plainer whilst also being somewhat overengineered for what it jas to do, especially considering how MMC were able to pull off a G1 looking Swindle, with a simpler transformation and built in foot mode. Having said that I'm in on this guy still as getting MS for combined mode.

More of a sly grin than a smirk
Warbotron Swindle is still my favorite version of this character
got it love it. agree about the wind shield if they are going all toon but this will be my definitive combaticon set
It's interesting to see the changes they made from the Legends version to this one.

But Swindle is Soulless. He sold his mates as scrap 😂

Hm, if its stable in combine mode Im switching from Zeta. Zeta Bruticus has some really stability issues and barely can stand up.
Same here. May try to sell my zeta sooner than later. Smh

I wasn’t saying it based on poses. For what it’s worth. They’re both posed on my shelf currently and I’d say the same thing

Magic square can feel light weight, I have the most recent Primes and there is very little dicast used
More the plastic density that matters when it comes to heft and weight

Thoughts on the new Skybound Comics? Would love to see a review

Correct. And that’s why I’m saying it translates better to Mp scale.
To be fair a figure this size and this lightweight doesn’t need ratchets in the hips, soft ratchets at the most.

swindle is the best combaticon
I sold the unique toys Bruticus after I bought tne Ocular max Bruticus The best version I think , But ( I kind if miss the Unique toys Version now
Those lights in his pelvis are sculpted, but just look painted, and that's messing with my mind!
Mine is enroute
This guy is probably the most deserving of the label "too cartoony" that I've seen.
The combined mode on these is so lazy and completely ruins the whole "toon accuracy" discussion for their bruticus. It wont look anything like the cartoon when combined. But they did a good job on that aspect otherwise. Thanks for the review.
What are you talking about? It's going to be the most toon accurate Bruticus by far.
@BingBong67489 except in all the ways it's not? Like swindle looks nothing like the leg in the toon and neither will brawl unless they throw in some covers to make them look right. MMC got the coloring pattern and design right on the limbs that everyone else treats as an afterthought
I like Brawl better. This guy... Well, I'm ok with toon accuracy, but this is too much for my personal taste. I prefer MMC's.

Crazy that the swindle is soulless when it’s such a charismatic character. But I totally see it. Needs a little design work for interest.
I love when people get it.
I don't like the whole show accurate look , its just a way of saying no detail . It's to.plain and boring I think
