DIgital Extremes(The team behind Warframe) have a incredible sound design team, a few years ago they started adding full musical numbers to the game with lyrics, and it's all been amazing. Starting with the song "We all lift together", written as a sort of chain gang song, sung as a way to keep the spirits up of the people working to clear their debt. Even just the music for in game without lyrics backing are super good.
Don't forget that Digital Extremes are also working on the game Sulframe and, oh god, how beautiful the "Rivers of Dendria" theme from the gameplay demo is! 😍
I truly believe Warframe is one of the most underrated games of all time, seemly never going viral, but never off the radar, one of the most consistent games that just keeps giving amazing experiences one after another
Yeah, despite being large it never has media coverage, while other MMORPG's like World of Warcraft constantly have videos being made on them. Yet.. everyone knows it, and has played it atleast once.
if warframe had all the budget of a triple A game without being touched or changed by publishers I can’t imagine the amount of art would be created. they are on another level and I say that because they go far and beyond what a free to play game is supposed to do The gameplay loop may be simple and repetitive at times But they know how to make lore, atmosphere, setting, and tell heartfelt stories through quests. This is why I place warframe in my top 3 favorite games of all time.
I think Duviri is also a pun in Latin... because if you say it fast it sounds like duoviri, two men, or duumviri, the double magistrates of Rome, but duviri is also declined from diviri, to separate (in thought), and dovere, to owe (in debt). It's also Sicilian for duty. All of this can be easily applied to the plot of the Duviri paradox.
Context: The song is about Dominus Thrax, child king of the kingdom of Duviri. He sees his kingdom as his stage, with the citizens as the actors. He seeks complete control, but one person, the Drifter, keeps defying him. Using his control over time, Dominus kills the Drifter over and over again, but the Drifter continues to stand their ground instead of living in peace in Duviri. Due to Duviri existing within the Void, an alternate dimension where nothing makes sense and the rules of reality don't exist, Dominus's emotions affect the weather. We see his emotions cycling through anger, sorrow, joy, and envy. He is angry at the Drifter's defiance, sorrowful that Duviri is a mere shadow of what it once was, joyful at Duviri's continued existence, and envious of the Drifter's freedom to do as they wish without care of the consequences.
Two more emotions in the game are Fear (blue) and Calm (light brown, seen in the video). The entirety of Duviri is also the manifestation of a young Drifter's trauma, with Dominus sorta stealing their emotions, leaving the Drifter in a state of apathy
This is based on ingame, the duviri paradox is about a land controlled by a monarch every time his feeling change, his kingdom changes too, the song represents it, starting with anger, on to sorrow afterwards its joy and i think envy was last... in the game the world changes on a cycle like how the visuals are in the video
When Dominus said "And when everything is a Paradox, then nothing will be!" and duviri'd all over the place - it was truly one of the moments of all time!
This is DE's attempt at a vivaldi's four seasons type of piece, and it turned out beautifully. Each section if you wanna call them is suppose to emulate the emotions of the ruler that reigns over duviri (an open world expansion that came out this year), with each change in emotion signified by a change in color in the sky and across duviri. That's why every time there is a switch the colors change. At least thats how I understand it. It might not be exactly this but it's something along those lines.
In the game Duviri (the place this is a theme for) the environment is controlled by the emotions of it's child king. So this piece is basically a theme for Anger, Sorrow, Fear, Joy and Envy respectively. That's why it's suck an emotional roller coaster.
Its actually consists of 5 pieces for 5 emotions (refer to skyboxes and lighting scene): Rage (Red sky), Fear (Dark Blue), Sorrow (Yellow), Happiness (Multicolor), Envy (Green). And outro - just advertizing screen (but with its personal music theme).
Ok, so I just noticed something that blew my mind 13:48 Listen to the cello's line. That's literally the same cadence - note for note, beat for beat - that we hear from The Man in The Wall at the end of The New War.
The Marco shoutout! I just found you both recently through your Guilty Gear reactions and been a fan of you both since, and yes he did love this piece :D
Warframe Duviri update is about corssover with alternative reality, exploration of the new world called Duviri and that's why the whole update is called Duviri Paradox. The whole soundtrack pack of the duviri is orchestral, there is actually even female opera singer NPC. Duviri is a kingdom, so it makes sense for the music to be serious, that's why orchestral choice became the right choice and it reaaaly did pay off. LYRICS: Lord! O Lord, I sing about the curse! His curse upon you, the void opens - the devil comes! I am yours, O exalted. I am the warrior of Thrax! Ashen, ashen. Ashen in silent desolation. He la, me la, in sleep. But I am not dead yet. I see the eternal vision O Mathila, the birds fly My child, my child, butterfly (Ooo, coral). My child, my child, Butterfly! Fiberli! But you shine!
My fascination with the 3rd section of the piece is how the very first 2 phrases are a call and response between the violin with different resolutions. It feels like a real dialogue there, and the way the song then continues forwards is just succulent.
It also highly ties into the themes of the character that piece represents, as Mathilda is entirely dismissive of any pain in her domain. Likewise, the resolution of the response feels almost chastising towards the violin. The piece then focuses really heavily on the singer's voice, as though any possibility for dialogue was upended for a while.
For anyone who went tk this games convention this year for the 10th anniversary they actually played this song live on stage including the singing. It was amazing as they had fog and color changing light patterns on the cealing.
It's wild that Duviri is like a mutual therapy session between two traumatized eldritch children, and that this is like a therapeutic break from being a biomechanical war atrocity that slaughters The Flood like they're gerbils.
These songs play during cutscenes in the game and as you might expect, they fit what is going on in the scene pretty well. At Tennocon, they had the singer play one of these songs live :)
you shoulld 100% listen to some of the other warframe songs. ""We All Lift Together", "For Narmer", and "This Is What You Are" are some of my favorites. We All Lift Together and For Narmer are actually connected lore wise, as they are sung by the same group of people. The first song shows them expressing their freedom in any way they can, which allows all of their voices to shine through seperatly, while still making a beutiful sound. The second song shows them after being enslaved by Narmer (hints the name), they sing in perfect harmony, it becomes almost impossible to distinguish one voice from another, and while it does also sound beutiful, it is used to show how they have lost all of their freedom and individuality. The third song is just really cool and plays during some of the coolest moments of the story.
Marco does love it :) p.s There was a period 20ish year ago when some games had music of this quality- because rather than generating it they'd have the music as actual CD tracks on the cd- and thus could be just recorded classical music of this quality if they wanted! There was some amazing music on pc from that era when it was on cd tracks and you could literally play the game disc in your music player.
as someone who plays Warframe, it gives me such joy to see you appreciate the music out of context. I mean I love the music, but I play the game and it invokes memories for me.
2:20 Wasn't expecting Marco to come up, but im glad that you know him! You two are both just great music analysts, along with Davi Vasc. Helping to bring video game music into the limelight a bit. Warframe also has many great songs, such as This Is What You Are
As a genre, video game music has come so far, so fast, when just a few decades we only had beeps on a crappy buzzer. Now every musical genre under the sun is represented and there are so many classics. What a time to have ears !
no need to apologize every time you pause, i watch you because you give your thoughts and opinions from that professional point of view that im interested in.
"Operator! I rounded up the 100 Sister Hounds in your arsenal, they are ready for deployment!" "Ok Ordis, but why do I count 93?" "Yes Operator! I rounded them up!"
Explaining what Warframe is is very hard. Game was started in 2013 and since then get updates that expand lore and universe (and it's not end yet). I was joined it in 2014. After so many updates I could say game have a bit of everything and this update, Duviri Paradox, was another parallel world called Duviri. It would be too much to explain everything, but outside of it there a lot more different stuff, as well as different music with it. I could recommend you some more: *We All Lift Together* - song about colonists from Solaris that are in debt, but they work together with a hope of a brighter future not chronological, but it have continuation: *For Narmer* - after some time there was big event where another faction called Sentients conquer Solar System, inprisoned everyone including them, so now they singing prayers for new leader - Narmer *Sleeping in the Cold Below* - a song about sisters on voyage in space *1999* - a most recent one, that will be released in future, we've only seen trailer with gameplay and this is song from the trailer *This is What You Are* - ambient soundtrack that played significant role during a story quest, where you learn about your true self, it make significant changes on you, you will never become the same "you" prior to that *Smiles From Juran* - ambient soundtrack, continuation of same quest line, accepting your pain and goin on *Your Creator* - ambient soundtrack, about meeting your creator *Cetus* - ambient soundtrack when you first time entering Cetus
Going on a tangent here but the fact that from earlier builds to now the game size nearly stayed the same even getting smaller is absolutely insane. After a few years not touching the game I was expecting at least 60 GB of download but nah it greeted me with 40 GB max. Idk how but its actually insane
Its really great hearing a diverse range of music from different mediums. You never know where you can hear something that blows you away. Also recommendation: Teen titans english theme by amiyumi. A cartoon has no right to have an opening that slaps like this.
God I love this track. It's such a good piece of music and the way it's written works so well for the ideas and themes of the story being told in the game. Each movement represents an emotion, but each movement passes to the next, you feel the spectrum of these emotions without dwelling too long in each, without spiraling into each individual emotion. Part of you wants more of each emotion, you want to listen to the Joy section forever, but if you loop it it just doesn't feel complete, not without the other emotions. If you spend too long on any one emotion it just doesn't feel right.
"It's nothing mind blowing, but to a simple person like me...". Oh, man do some of us feel the same way, but your musical analysis is always great, and you are a true man of culture :D
Tony the Meatball fan I see, not something I expected to hear watching this video. Y'all should do a chat together sometime, would be interesting I'm sure since you both have pretty different musical backgrounds
You can hear this song being sung by a lone soprano on a stage in the middle of nowhere. You do quests and randomly hear this, and the closer you get closer to the sound, the louder. She is there singing and you just wanna listen to her. Be warned: don't get too close to her or she stops singing in order to talk to you.
This is the first time I saw the music trailer and the backgrounds are perfect for the different sections of the song and some of the characters. First part - Lodun, the Prince of Fire, lets his rage get the best of him. Here the song sounds sharper and more forceful. Second part - Luscinia, the Sorrowful Soprano, is overwhelmed with depression and guilt. The song becomes a melodic sigh here with fewer words. Third part - Mathila, the harbinger of Joy, makes it a point to banish all negativity. The music becomes more plucky in technique and mood, painting the picture of frolicking in a field of flowers. last part - Bombastine, The Covetous Courtier, is full of pride and envy. The music sounds prideful before turning sinister, as one expects from a scheming villain.
Part of the context of this is the region of the game this song is part of goes through cycles or "spirals" of emotion. Anger, Fear, Joy, and Envy. Each movement of the piece corresponds to those emotions, which is also shown in the video visually.
Lets gooooo, I was not expecting this but I very much appreciate it, all of Warframe's OST is amazing, if you can you should check out "We all lift together, "For Narmer" and "Sleeping in the Cold Below" next!
each time the back drop changes the piece is changing to be about a different emotion, as the world of duviri is what is called a conceptual embodiment in warframe, which is basically thoughts and emotion becoming physical due to the void, the void is a space between space used for faster then light travel in the warframe world. our character the tenno was in a failed void jump accident which lead to the creation of the world of duviri which is a conceptual embodiment of a child attempt to cope in a terrible situation, in this world of duviri the childs emotions are also people who exist lead their own lives, with each emotion have some power over duviri as they are part of the child, each time the song changes its a different emotion. Anger - Ludon -red Sorrow - Lucinia (in the world she sings the song) -blue Fear- Sythel Joy - Mathila - pink Envy - Bombastine - green Dominous is the face seen in the sky, he embodies all emotions and is a mirror of the child during accident and proceeding events. my prefered section is Joy, it plays when you complete the quest as well
Been playing this for over a year now and I'm glad I played it. It's my gold standard for F2P monetization. When I started playing, I have no expectations regarding its combat, lore, story, world-building and music. I was surprised for its quality specially for an F2P game. It's unfortunate that gacha is being the norm now. The context behind this piece is also intersting and well-fitting. Same with all their other music. When I first listened to this, Vivaldi's Four Seasons immediately came to mind. Not technically but theoretically.
I started my channel making videos for Warframe. At one point I took a break for 4 years, and came back this past May because I’d missed the action. Thinking not much had changed, I was blown away by how much was added. I think the center piece of the change is Duviri itself which is so unlike the rest of the game. It’s a lot more relaxed to where you can take in the beauty, and it makes sense to have music match the gorgeousness of the scenery. That is, of course, until you play pretty much the rest of the game which should probably be a soundtrack of high speed technical death metal due to how fast and frenetic it is by nature. You are pretty much cyber gods on a battlefield painting a canvas red, and the weapons and abilities you do are creating visual and aural chaos with instruments of destruction. As a side note, you should at least check out someone showing you one of the Warframes, Octavia. She is literally a bard, and you can create songs to use as her abilities. The notes you can choose and the amount are limited (understandably so), but they made an interface to do so that is easy and fun. I still do not know of any other game that does this, and huge props to Digital Extremes for coming up with the idea and executing it. Now I want to go blow something up…
The band that created these pieces lost their job a month or two ago, the company they work for closed for some reason that I don't remember now. I think they created a fundraiser to create a new band or something but I think it didn't work (If anyone knows, please clarify), i think it's a shame. To all this you have a new subscriber this one it's a good reaction video sir.
I've always seen those deep strings right at the end as a call forward of sorts. There's been a new villain revealed in the game, who speaks in a deep, alien language that sounds *very* similar to those strings. Given the position in the timeline that Duviri sits, I think it's reasonable to assume the song is referencing the new villain
I think it represents both Wally and Dominus' spiral into desperation. Duviri was and is one of the main guards against the void, and Dominus is TERRIFIED of it. He is shown in the lore to destroy entire islands upon any sighting that might suggest the sheer EXISTENCE of Wally.
yeah that's the thing about warframe. it says sci-fi looter shooter but it's actually pretty much everything, but mostly a greek tragedy placed in the distant future.
Hey Tony, since you liked the duviri paradox theme, you realy should give a chance for We All Lift Together the music from another warframe storyline, a quite diferent theme since this one is like industrial music, hope see it in some video in the soon future, and hope you enjoy it
It's hard to recommend anything else from this game based off of your reaction here because so much of it is extremely diverse and there's lots of atmospheric and combat music. For the stuff that falls outside of those last two, stuff thats more easy to analyze by itself (and will likely be recommended by others) you should check out We All Lift Together and Sleeping In The Cold Below. Worth noting that they're very different from this piece.
gl, as much content as the game has it's not very new player friendly. Luckily the community is incredibly helpful so just ask around in region chat for some help if you need it.
I don't really like react videos but I really love watching others appreciate good music. You should listen to Kimi no Na wa (Your Name) or Shokugeki no Souma - The Dish Toward Tomorrow.
These parts should not be interpreted together because their order is random. Each part is a different emotion of a God-like-child-king living outside normal reality. His emotions influence the world he rules. In the game, the mechanics look like this: in a 2-hour cycle, these emotions change, and this affects the appearance of the map (this kingdom) and, to some extent, the opponents. And of course the sky background and music change. And that's what this music is.
If you like this there are several more Musicpieces in warframe wich are minimum as good as this. I would say a bit better. # The secrefice to take its pain away.
PLEASE react to Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty theme song that made by Dawid Podsiadło And P. T. Adamczyk! It is a really incredible masterpiece😍But so sadly no one did react to Phntom Liberty theme song
Gorgeous stuff, right Tony?! I'm in a back and forth debate with some rando on the original youtube video claiming this isn't "classical/opera" LOL.
This was a great piece! I literally thought of you during the video 😅😅
What a small world, watching both of you guys
This is weird, I should make a wish

i'd say it's not the weather that changes, it's the entire season. So this is kinda like the warframe version of Vivaldis seasons

yes it indeed is a moment of all time
I remember that
When Teshin said "Fly home, kiddo. I work alone" I really felt that
"Hahaha Driftor, you cannot escape my Duviri Paradox!"

Wow did not think I'd see this at all your channel is a blessing
Tony the Meatball fan I see, not something I expected to hear watching this video. Y'all should do a chat together sometime, would be interesting I'm sure since you both have pretty different musical backgrounds
You can hear this song being sung by a lone soprano on a stage in the middle of nowhere.
You do quests and randomly hear this, and the closer you get closer to the sound, the louder. She is there singing and you just wanna listen to her. Be warned: don't get too close to her or she stops singing in order to talk to you.
I like how the faces in the sky also changes with the hues.
Anger - Ludon -red
Sorrow - Lucinia (in the world she sings the song) -blue
Fear- Sythel
Joy - Mathila - pink
Envy - Bombastine - green
Dominous is the face seen in the sky, he embodies all emotions and is a mirror of the child during accident and proceeding events.
my prefered section is Joy, it plays when you complete the quest as well
Been playing this for over a year now and I'm glad I played it.
Now I want to go blow something up…
I actually just picked this game up like a week ago so the timing of this video is perfect for me.
Marco did indeed react to this back when it came out! The video is on his channel.
Such a good request
the songs represent the emotions of dominus thrax, the king of duviri
Warframe music just gets better and better with every update
Ive been playing warframe since ps4 dropped. its a FANTASTIC game with an insane and dark story
Hey Tony, since you liked the duviri paradox theme, you realy should give a chance for We All Lift Together the music from another warframe storyline, a quite diferent theme since this one is like industrial music, hope see it in some video in the soon future, and hope you enjoy it
Ace Combat 04 in 2001 had
Rex Tremendae and Megalith - Agnus Dei
Warframe has some of the best music in all of gaming, their sound desgin in general is tor tier
I remember Warframe, cool soundtracks...
Whispers in the wall next? 👀
nice! great!
i stopped playing it, but i love the music.
This is video game music in a FREE to play game by the way
Warframe is free?
@@DrumRollTonyReactsvery, probably the most free free-to-play game out there and probably the best free to play game
I wanted to see Tony react to all of the warframe songs
Warframe music hits different.
Honestly this whole track gave me Ghibli vibes
I get what you mean, especially in the joy section.
This makes me miss warframe
btw, love your content.....and love warframe! double win here :P
Sadly, the theater this singer is from and that helped to record this closed down not that long ago
Found you through ya boi MarcoMeatball
Marco is legitimately a great person. I have so much respect for his musicianship and overall contributions to the world
wow am i gonna download warframe now
gl, as much content as the game has it's not very new player friendly. Luckily the community is incredibly helpful so just ask around in region chat for some help if you need it.
Yes! But as said above, get experienced players to help you learn the game mechanics (without spoilers)
Also note you have to enable region chat in social options in-game
I have to stress that it's actually 70 million registered losers.
(A slip up one of the devs made once and it stuck)
p.s How has nobody asked for Happy Chaos theme yet in his patreon lol?
I don't really like react videos but I really love watching others appreciate good music. You should listen to Kimi no Na wa (Your Name) or Shokugeki no Souma - The Dish Toward Tomorrow.
More warframe music react please, that game is a masterpiece
Would love to see you react to Queen's Blade | by Masaru Yokoyam. Awesome Music!
【LIVE映像】唱 日本武道館 2023.8.30【Ado】 , please
you should listen to the other Warframe OSTs as well
These parts should not be interpreted together because their order is random.
The analysis of the music "It has to be this way" from MGRR would be golden
you should do this! Hiss, Gene Shinozaki, NaPoM - Fading (Official Video
Doctor stone season 3 ending 2 when
We are 70 million registered loosers. It's lore.

Sad that the company that made this piece went under. They played live for tennocon 2023, then weeks later went under.
Wait, so those who made this piece for Warframe is pretty much gone?
I think they are trying to raise funding but yep.@@soksocks
me when i lie
If you like this there are several more Musicpieces in warframe wich are minimum as good as this. I would say a bit better. # The secrefice to take its pain away.
Bro yeah the story is not what you read lol its extremely tragic, youre picking up what the music is putting down for sure.
Join 70 million active losers :D
Not my words, the devs
