It’s not Thrax, rather the drifters emotions becoming a reality because if the Void. The book ‘Tales of Duviri’ isn’t s child’s book, rather a book made to teach children how to keep their emotions in check in the event of Void Exposure, and what happens if you don’t. It however uses Thrax and his emotions to portray. So whilst technically you’re right, it’s actually our emotions since Thrax isn’t a real person, rather a Conceptual Embodiment, as everyone is in Duviri.

My favorite part of this update is how the landscape changes based on the emotion and music presented. In the first piece its anger, and the skybox turns red with a glowing face of Dominus Thraxx silently screaming. The last one is envy and the sky turns this sickly green with giant blemishes that look like eyes staring down at you. Just so cool.

The entire new area is also full of, not just opera, but musical and theatrical references. Most of the new named NPCs wear theatre masks and without going too deep into the lore (and not spoiling anybody) the whole thing is a kind of groundhog's day scenario only instead of being stuck in one day, the MC is stuck in his role in a repeating performance (oversimplified it but I said no spoilers). The update this song came from introduces a new world that changes form based on the emotions the ruler of the land is currently feeling, the opening isn't just an intro but also an indication of the king's rage, the obvious words "his curse on you" kinda lean into this, being followed by the despair or regret of his rage, after a time he picks himself up to experience a proper joy or happiness for a time and ending with a very brief note of envy his joy created and this envy resulting in a circle going back to rage. The story is a tragic one but there are a couple songs like this that describe the general story of the tragedy without revealing a single bit about it. These music writers know what they're doing. I'd recommend one other song from warframe called "This is what you are"

I just finished duviri and the opera singer was absolutely amazing but i just realized each phase goes through a different emotion invoking that feeling within you. On top of this its the instrument change and lightness that makes it work together, invoking a mysterious or illusionary feeling at its base but then it has these added feelings on top of it tying everything together with amazing transitions.(Also would you ever wanna do sleeping in the deep below?)

Having played all the mainline games and Renegade, I really feel it encapsulates Kane's journey from the biblical times until the ascension.
Hearing it for the first time left me completely spent and in melancholy. I think I must've stood closer to an hour chain smoking on the balcony, staring into the dark night (yeah, I'm such a drama king). It was the first time I truly realized game music really has much potential.

So I don't know if you actually played the Duviri Paradox quest but(Spoilers incomming)
1:11 This part of the song plays when you(The Drifter) beat Dominus Thrax in the story and basically take over for him. The scene that plays while song song is playing shows Thrax being completely humbled and almost devolving into complete madness, it was something I did not expect from the story.
Also Dominus is the character's name. The language being used in the song is a fictional language, I forget what it's called but it's fictional though I suppose it's meant to sound like Latin

    • @luketfer

@@luketfer Someone here in the comment section mentioned the name of the language but I can't find that comment anymore. And that's even assuming Duviri is set in the same dimension as the rest of the game is.

On that note, I dunno if you've heard about Tennocon; which is Warframe's yearly gathering and teaser show for "what's next" that is also streamed on Twitch, but in the lead up to the main show they normally do a panel about sound design and music, so if you can catch it, or even just watch it afterward, I think you'd really enjoy it.
