Sounds like you had a good reading month! I am late to the Stephen King horror party but I am 450 pages into Salem's Lot, a creepy vampire novel. Also for Victober, I am reading Anthony Trollope's The Way We Live Now, a definite change of pace from King. My best read so far this month was the seventh entry into the Robert Galbraith (J K Rowling pen name) Cormoran Strike/Robin Ellacot London private investigator series. Her characters are so good. I bought this on release day and blew through the 950 pages in three days, I enjoyed it that much. Another great video. Thanks! 😀
Oh wow that sounds like you’re also having a fantastic reading month! I only read the first Cormorant Strike but it unfortunately wasn’t my cup of tea - I’m glad though you were able to fly through 950 pages like that! What do you think of Stephen king? And yay for Victober, I didn’t participate myself this year but I heard Trollope was on a bunch of booktuber‘s list :)
Been eyeing the Vampires of El Norte since I saw the cover, but I found The Hacienda to be slow-paced until it got deep into the horror (plus I wasn't super sold on the romance). And to find every review say it doesn't actually have strong horror!! Feeling complicated about picking it up now. 😖I loved her writing though and I'm a sucker for /amazing/ romance. I will be patiently waiting for your full review!
I had to read “The Lottery” somewhere along the way and didn’t love it, but you’ve convinced me that _Hill House_ might be worth a chance. 🌵 (gratuitous emoji)
Ohh I’m glad I could convince you :) I also heard fantastic reviews about We Have Always Lived in the Castle, that will be my next Shirley. I completely forgot ask for an emoji, so thank you for remembering ☺️
@@Nixreads my daughter said The Haunting of Hill House is great. I finished We Have Always Lived in the Castle and one word just popped in to my head - bizarre. I found it more disturbing than a horror story. I’m going to look for some commentaries on it because I know there’s some psychological meanings in the story. I’d be interested to hear what you think when you finish.
Are you deep into your spooky reads tight now or going the cozy route? 😊

I‘d say Vampires of El Norte is also slow paced, little action or horror and more romance :) I will try to give more details in my review!

My daughter is reading The Haunting of Hill House now while I'm reading We Have Always Lived in the Castle which is quite creepy.
We Have Always Lived in the Castle is my next book by the author! How did you and your daughter like her books?:)

@readwritesip ohh that sounds very intriguing actually! Now I’m super curious to read it as well.
