Eric, solve lots of problems-INSULATE THE SHED ! It keeps stuff warm in winter and keeps the heat down in summer. Also, make sure it's air tight as possible. You can heat this very economically even with a air filled electric radiator heater. I have a shed like this. Make sure you do the ceiling as well! You will be much happier and much less STRESS.
Unfortunately he has limited time before the cold. I love how you share every little bit of your new ventures with us Eric and not make it seem like everything is peaches and cream. The only thing tho,(or maybe I missed it) was the part of the puppy episode. I know one day you adopted him and were super excited about it and then all of a sudden there was no more talk of the adorable little guy? What happened? Well hoping and looking forward to you and the kitties new adventures and you all will be safe for sure. Oh another question is what is this EMS thing on your trailer battery. Is this a possibility for Blue? Just curious. Love what you did with your property. Dan is a lucky guy to have such a great place to stay. Hoping he can make some videos too of his life there?? Okay well safe travels you three.
Yep Insulation is Key. In AZ my new Tuff Shed was clothed with insulation all way around. Within hrs of she’d constructed It has so many benefits as you mentioned . I used to work as a Energy Advisor. Save $$ with Insulation
Eric! Just want to know😀... How are you supposed to know how to prepare for different seasons if you keep leaving your property when the weather gets over baring for you😁 thats part of learning to live on the land by experiencing different weather.🤷♀️😁
Not to beat a dead horse but... I had mentioned in the comments a few months ago that you should insulate Babe. Not only will it help to keep it warm in the winter but also help with the heat during the summer. Hanging insulation isn't that difficult and you could probably have that entire shed done in a few hours. After the insulation is done you could even throw up some Luan plywood to finish the look. Insulating Babe will have the added plus of keeping your collectibles safe from temperature changes as well. Good Luck on your journeys this winter.
Order one of those spray in foam kits, or call a contractor to spray it in. Maybe 2 days of work one day to unload the shed and one day to load it back in. Just electronics going would keep it warm.
Why did you not insulate the building, before filling it up with your treasures... better get that shed insulated. the sooner, the sooner the better Eric...
My husband gets a sinus infection every time the weather changes in the fall. No fun. I wouldn't say that you have made a lot of mistakes. It's just trial and error trying to figure out what works and what doesn't. Hopefully BTBB keeps your batteries nice and warm this winter with the changes you have made and you can enjoy your winter in warmer climes.
❤❤❤❤ A Pelonis brand Oil Filled (sealed) heater with digital thermostat that can be set to any temp would be safer and more efficient. They may also have a diff brand with an app that can be controlled remotely or you could use a smart socket with an app for emergencies to shut off remotely. There is no propane needed, no open flame just oil sealed inside that heats up the register looking thing that eminates heat kind of like the old steam heat registers. It just plugs in to regular outlet for electricity. Not too expensive either around $79.00. I heat my whole house with 2. One would have that shed toasty as can be. ❤❤❤❤
No one seems to care about UL approved batteries but it really is important. No noxious fumes and no concern regarding fires. Lithionics was the first UL approved RV lithium battery. I’ll be loyal to them….and they also self heat below 38 degrees.
Well, Eric, a suggestion on the motorcycle, move the mount forward as far as you can go, and that will definitely improve the balance of the trailer. On the shed do spray foam insulation from a reputable company not yourself will make a great improvement I highly suggest not using open flame heater like you got. Very dangerous. As for winterizing RV, sell it and get a four season super C and you won’t have to worry about freezing no more. Safe travels my friend.
I made a little room around my water holding take for my well water. I then put on a open bottom bracket on one wall with a hole just big enough to hold one of those heaters that plug into the outlet.. Then a heavy duty extension cord to the actual wall outlet. The thermostat is set at 60. The little box room is warmed when it goes below 60. All I'm heating is a 2'x 4' x 3' high area. Nothing freezes. Costs next to nothing. Don't let that infection settle in your lungs. Lots of chicken soup and broth or clear stock. Extra huge amount Vitamin C. B vitamins too for energy and strength.😊
Eric, I might rethink that ventless heater in with your collectibles. Ventless heater produce water as a byproduct of combustion it will rust any steel you have in that shed fairly quickly. A friend of mine had one of those heaters in outbuilding many years ago and it rusted anything steel in the shed. Not trying to bash you just don't want all of your stuff to get rusted up. Keep the good stuff coming buddy.
I wonder about leaving that gas heater in there going for months what kind of damage it might cause. Although here in AZ never gets about 15-20% humidity. Winter, I have seen it get down to 5% humidity.
I bought JITA. 300ah lithium 12V batteries with built in heaters. Not sure if they are selling them still. When under 32 degrees the built in heater kicks in and heats them to 50 degrees. Pretty cool . I have an Aluma aluminum trailer built into a tiny home & it gets cold in Wa state, you know .Hope this helps!!!
I hope And Pray That You Feel Better Soon Eric, So You Can Come And See People In The SouthernBell States Again, Eric 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
You inspire a lot of people, that is a good thing. Life is a game and some levels are harder than others. So don't get discouraged. That's how you win.
I love that you are bringing your Guitar Hero stuff with you. I used to be obsessed with Guitar Hero and I was able to play the guitar on expert level for majority of the songs. Whenever I am on a cruise ship with a Guitar Hero in the arcade I play it, haven't got to play it in a while.
I have a cheap solution to your battery temperature issue. If you can dig down below the frost line 18" you'd never need to use a heater. Let the ground keep the batteries at a constant temp year round. Either cut through the floor and dig a shallow cellar or relocate the batteries at the edge of the shed. With 48v the extra length of wire won't cause issues if you don't go crazy.
Eric, be careful to get plenty of rest, good food, and quality sleep. Your immune system is likely compromised, so don’t overdo anything. Your body will heal itself if you let it, but you especially need to take care of yourself. 👍
buy a rockwool insulation mat or make a box you can put over batteries that are insulated with 100 mm insulation and a regular light bulb keeps it frost free.. do it in my boat live in a country with down to 18 minus degrees
Styrofoam is highly flammable. Not a good idea to use around your batteries or to have a heater nearby. You need to change that. Video was very informative.

Odd that the sungold doesn't have a temperature sensor to stop charging when it gets to 32F. My standalone Epever has one came with a sensor leads to run them to the battery box. Guess I won't be buying a sungold while doesn't freeze often once in a while it does. My Epever charger it protects my batteries. I looked at Signature solar seems like at least the lower power ones don't have one either. Maybe they all rely on the BMS to handle this probably the reason they recommend to buy server rack style batteries instead of the cheaper 12V typical RV type looking batter.
So ummm, why don't you mount the heating pads to the outside of the battery box? It doesn't have to be on bottom it can be mounted to the outside wall of the box, problem solved.
Soo…. If you put those batteries on a metal shelving unit and then put those 12v heating pads on the shelf below them, with nothing on the pads, would that provide enough heat without damaging anything ?
Eric, I use a Victron solar controller in my motorhome and it has a low temperature cut off in it so it will not charge my lithium batteries if they are below the temperature that I set. If you put a BMS on your lithium batteries you will see that they are staying a lot warmer than what the room temperature is because you were drawing a load from them. my batteries are in an outside battery compartment on my motorhome and I’ve been in 19° weather and the batteries have never been down below 37°.
Traylor Swift 12:25 - very cool name for that. Its been awhile since i last watched a video from your channel. I been traveling a little myself. I see you are somewhere different than the house you had near St Louis.

Pack Rats love insulated sheds in high desert. He should have bait stations down or he may not like what he finds when he returns.
I noticed Opie was watching you explain how well the Christmas tree was tied down. I think he said, challenge accepted!😊
Note to Tater. Buy Lion Energy or Battle Born batteries with internal heaters made right here in the USA.
clean out the shed, sprayfoam insulate the shed, and put in a mini split that runs on DC power.
I did not see your comment until now, so I didn't steal your idea, LOL! I thought I was the first to suggest it.

Cheapest fix would be make a wood box for batteries, put a 60 watt bulb in it on a temp switch. No expensive propane needed. What’s for lunch?
Insulate my friend. And skirt the building. Use an electric heater you have free electricity. The place looks Great.
Eric, just locate your batteries below grade with an insulated lid. The ground won't freeze much like a basement.
Don’t worry about making mistakes, you can’t learn without making mistakes.
And in your case, your mistakes help teach us.
Bury your batteries in a box underground!!! The dirt is a fantastic insulator, if they’re underground they will stay at a steady temperature
I've used regular old 25w to 40w lightbulbs to protect outdoor plumbing in Wisconsin in winter, with insulation boxes surrounding them.

Many solar controllers have a low temp cutoff. I would not do the propane. Being ventless it will introduce moisture in the shed.

Hey Eric, If you come to florida, Come visit in Jacksonville Florida! there is an Rv park here. Big Tree RV Park. It has over night spots!
Get a light color cover for your car when you return, it will be good for spring/summer sun. Safe travels!

the 12v heating pads will work if you build a raised platform for the Redodo battery bank and fix the pads to the underside of that, leaving good air circulation. Use a 48 to 12v converter to power the pads or plug a 12v transformer into a mains voltage outlet
The propane solution is like crazy dangerous IMO. Maybe it'll be fine but an open flame is always a risk. I build a heated cat shelter for my cats with a 250 watt bulb, you could probably use a 150 watt bulb for this and not have a problem. Obviously you don't want to put it too close.
Ultimately this is the price of having bad batteries I guess.
About how many watts do you think? I estimated about 20 watts should handle it. (Per sq ft) Connect 4 (or 5)12v pads in series for your 48v system.

@@mattstopa9436 I agree with you one hundred percent on open flame risks. Especially since he has an impressive collectible cache.

While heating pads may keep the batteries warm, ( the whole point of NF putting the propane heater in,) it doesn't heat the whole shed.
I'm doing Christmas after Thanksgiving. Today was Veterans Day breakfast and it was good.
Use an indoor outdoor thermometer one for in the shed the other for inside the battery box
You should give yourself a pat on the back, you got A LOT accomplished in the year 2023.
Oh, a 100.1 isn't really a fever. 102 and higher is a fever.
Yes I would think insulating would be the simplest solution and safest

Fastest way to tell if sick or tattoo is take a couple of aspirin if temp goes down in a couple of hours than most likely tattoo..

If you put a BMS on your lithium batteries you will see that they are staying a lot warmer than what the room temperature is because you were drawing a load from them. my batteries are in an outside battery compartment on my motorhome and I’ve been in 19° weather and the batteries have never been down below 37°.
Install a thermostat between solar panels and the batteries
