I just went to the Oregon DMV site. They can not do what you called open title. The dealer must get a title in their name as the dealer and then provide you with a proper title signing it over to you with in 25 days. The dealer has not done what they legally must do to sell you that RV and they are lying to you. Go to the DMV Oregon site and look up the dealer title requirements
We're Kevin's neighbors. We're totally off grid. We used our septic install and trash service showing physical address for drivers licenses and rv title and registration. Good luck, Eric. Hope to run into you in Concho.
He doesn’t want to become a AZ resident as he wants to avoid state income tax.
He's GASLIGHTING
Really hoping this all works out soon. At least your back in AZ.
@@pass4pets434 Literally nothing Tator is saying is true.
How CampervanKevin have Az License on His Bigfoot? but it is Eck bigfoot title is O the pabom
I work for a dealer in Alabama that sells to people in Texas all the time. But your dealer did really not do what they should’ve. Every state would have that issue. We also have paperwork for every state to fill out for any state the buyer lives in. Buying out of state isn’t an issue, as long as your dealer has the correct paperwork
The dealer probably didn’t know. They just did business how they normally do.
No, this is the dealer’s fault. Open titles are not how business is done, and they know this. They are using this open title scheme to skirt local regulations. The dealer needs to fix this mess in Oregon and get you a clean title. You should not have to wait a long time for the title since they can do it electronically.
@@PrestonGladd you people are honestly laughable
@@MatthewFischer1533 well, first off, my comments were sarcasm, second off who are “you people” are you talking about white people? Are you talking about people that are on UA-cam? What people are you talking about?
@@PrestonGladd I’m referring to the people that listen to this man, it’s quite laughable. Why bring race into it kiddo?
Ultimately, it comes down to the fact that the title should have been changed to the dealership when they acquired the RV. Then the title changed to you when you bought it.
Yes, the title should have shown transfer of ownership to Eric if there is room or another line for a transfer on back of title,, or if not, then I believe there is another legal paper that the dealership can fill in that proves transfer to ERic. Either one of those things should be acceptable.
We had that happen before. The dealer didn’t transfer the title first and the DMV told us that that was illegal. We told them that and they got it fixed really quick. Good luck if that’s the case for you.
Sounds like yours may be a different problem though.
Usually (I believe) dealerships dont ever have to actually title a vehicle, maybe unless they are going to use it for their own purposes. From what I have seen, there can be maybe up to 10 dealerships on back of title,, from one to another without actually titling it themselves.
Sounds like a Consignment where the dealer doesn't want to get in the middle other than holding out their hand
I live in Oregon, and have gotten my registration within 2 weeks, several times, with out of state vehicles too. I would send it back to the dealership, have them apply for the registration and then do it the right way that Texas wants it. Sorry for all the hassle! Hope things get better soon!
He has to get a title before he can register it and get a tag. The title is the issue.
Eric PLEASE do not install thousands of dollars of upgrades into your RV until you resolve the title issue. Consult an attorney knowledgeable with these issues in which ever state you opt to register the RV.
In Texas, you can also just get a Bonded Title to resolve a title with an issue. Its fairly easy. A bonded title is a type of surety bond that establishes you as the legal owner of your vehicle, even if the original title is unavailable. The police and the DMV accept the bonded title as proof of ownership.
Where do I go to get a bonded title
What if title was lost...
@@tomday1318Order a duplicate title. Should be ~$10
That was correct many years ago. It’s no longer that simple or I would have done the same three years ago.
We bought our RV in Wisconsin, but we live in Michigan, and wanted it registered in Michigan. They told us no issue. . . and it was a HUGE issue. It took us MONTHS to get proper registration, and even longer to get our plates corrected!
Seller listed as OK Trades. Buyer listed as World of RV's. That's NOT an open title. An open title is Seller info only with NO dates or purchase price. They just did a re-assignment of title from one dealer to another You should have a proper Application for title filled out by World Of RV's with all info and signatures/date/sale price/Original Title#.
You seem to be talking about ownership and registration simultaneously. They are separate issues. Fix the ownership in Oregon then register in Texas...
Eric, I don't know if you looked at their reviews but I saw this and I believe its the same dealer. If not let me know.
A family affair, World of RVS LLC sold us a 2011 Thor Freedom Elite 24 foot motor home in June of 23. The RV was a fixer, a hole in the roof...Billy, the owner's son said, "well just put some caulking on it and it'll be fine." There were fuse problems, a torn awning, and temperamental door step that worked occasionally. Understanding that we'd have to fix all these things, we got our financing and immediately drove to our mechanic. After many assurances by Billy that the paperwork would be filed appropriately, we found many months later, that when we went to register it, it was still in the old owner's name. When we called the bank, we found they'd received nothing, no bill of sale and no title. It is now eight months later and the bank is considering its next actions against the dealership. The bank has no collateral and we have no ownership! BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!
You can get an address assigned to your land if you go to the local county office the land is located in Arizona and request a "situs address". I own nearly 30 properties in the Snowflake, Concho, Sun Valley areas.

I became an Arizona resident really easy. Went from Missouri to Arizona with no problems in 2016. Got an Arizona drivers license without a home here in Arizona. We were living at Lost Dutchman state park and switched over easily
Just a renter, but same thing for me in 08.
Same here in 2021
Oregonian here... before flying out to P town, get with ODOT, call(perhaps website?) and make sure you won't need a VIN verification on the rig since it won't be there physically. Once I had to have a sheriff sign a form verifying a vin on a vehicle years ago that I was bringing in.
Still true if you are bringing a vehicle from out of state into Oregon to register has to have vin inspection form done in OR
I am a grandma, bought and sold Many cars in my day. I have never had any issues with DMV and I am in California..It seems as if you have an issue with every registration. Maybe, like Taylor said, it’s you?? BTW, what happened to the Oregon Dealer plate???
That’s why when I purchased my truck 14 years ago and received the signed (by seller) did not put my name on it since my state did not require a title to register it and if I ever want to sell it to an out of state buyer in the future, the title is signed.
Pennsylvania uses the same system as OR, despite having a 6% sales tax. Thanks for the heads up. It would never have occurred to me that a state would expect a dealership to get the title twice for one sale.
Eric please stop whining about everything. You have friends that know what to do if you don't in any given situations. Suck it up. You don't need to make rash decisions and although I don't promote going against the law but all you had to do was hit the road and drive home. If you got stopped all you had to do was explain situation. Maybe get a ticket maybe not no big deal. And go to the top at rv dealer and push the issue have it sent overnight. Just handle it. Hate to say it know you don't care but about ready to unsubscribe. You need to be thankful for your blessings and chill out.
Thank you, Eric, for sharing your experiences with all this. The silver lining of this huge Title Cloud is that your sharing of your experiences is truly helpful to others who may be in a similar situation or anticipating buying an RV outside of their residence state gives them a heads up about things they can expect along the way.💖
One reason Az requires proof of residency is part in due to emissions testing in Phx/Tucson area. Even though you don’t live in that area back in the beginning of the required testing people would get a P O box out of maricopa county and list as their residence to not have to pass the emissions. So Az got smart and tightened the laws to make that harder to do. Many with illegal or altered vehicles would do this to get their vehicle registration. Hope this clears up some of the reasons why
I bought my Motorhome a couple of years ago, with an Idaho registration, and registered it in Arizona. I am an Oklahoma resident.. I used Laposa South as my address. But made my mailing address to the Oklahoma address In Quartzsite they don't even require emissions inspections. In Phoenix they do require it. I believe I am required to register it in AZ if I live here more than a few months,
Eric you're land in Arizona If you don't have postal serve will not deliver to your land the post office has to give you a free post office box for your resident You probably can use your trash pickup and electric if you have electric on the property or water delivery but I know for a fact they have to give you a free post office box If they don't deliver it to your land
Eric, keep an eye on your Texas inspection paperwork. I think that you have a certain amount of days to get it registered. I'm not sure, but it might be 30 days. After that you will need to have the RV inspected again before you can register.
I was wondering about that
You are correct i live in Texas.
My inspection on my motorbike to register it here in Arizona was
>>> 30 days😮
Worst case, make them give you a dealer plate until they get it sorted out. Pretty much the only thing that a dealership is required to do by law is to handle title transfers. It's not your fault. It is their fault, even if not intentional.
Good warning to us all to really check out what we are getting into with a title. Thanks for sharing.
Eric, I think you should ask Oregon dealership to fill out a separate extended title paper, showing them as current owner and transferring vehicle ownership to you. I dont know name of this paper , but it is when there is not enough room on original title or when there are multiple dealers names on original title, there is another form that can be filled out to transfer to a person who is actually registering the vehicle.. Good luck,, hope this problem can be fixed soon.
Thanks for the update. No open titles for me. Seller has to be owner on title.
Sorry you are having so much trouble. I bought an RV in Iowa and they gave me a travel permit and I pulled it (yes a TT) to FL and registered it there no problem as I was a resident of FL. You have just scratched the surface of all the problems people can have in transactions like this. Thanks for another info video on life’s possible pitfalls. Best of luck getting your title soon. Good thing you are back in AZ with friends and kitties.
Oregon titles ship quick. All my Oregon vehicles…. I have titles show up in 1 to 2 months max. Our family has never had to wait a long time for titles.
Oregon has a dealer reassignment form. If there isn’t room on the back of the title for them the dealer to sign over to you to then that reassignment form is needed along with the title to transfer in any state. All dealerships carry that form from the state it’s is an extension of the original title. The dealer should be able to fill that form out with the vehicle information and with their information and signature sale from and your information upon which you sign it once received sale to. Then that title with that form is then able to be transferred in any state. I worked for a dealer in Minnesota and Wisconsin and that form was given as all titles are open through dealers until actual transfer for customer. Sometimes I would have 4 of those reassignment forms as the vehicle had gone through many dealers.
You're much more an Arizona resident that a Texas resident. This is not the fault of Texas or anyone really.
@@christopherblaisdel he explained it right in the beginning of the video
so you drove from OR to TX & back to AZ w/o plates..
I think he called it “teleportation” 😉 😉
My suggestion: If the TX form is downloadable, have the Dealership download and complete and fly AZ to OR to AZ, temp permit then drive to TX to register?
You've probably considered all of this.
Be well!

Eric has switched his Rv's so many times, it is no surprise he is running into some issues, it was only a matter of time. For him as a UA-camr, it is not the end of the world, but for the average person, you better choose the right rig on your first atempt, if you plan on living this lifestyle
I admit that I am at a little loss to understand this. I understand that the title issued in Oregon is not legal in Texas. As I understand from the video is that Texas is asking for a particular form. Why can't you get this form from the office in Texas, and take it to the dealer in Oregon and have them fill it out? Why is the dealer in Oregon refusing to provide Texas with the required information, (completed form)?
In nevada, taking the vehicle to police dept. They can do a Vin inspection and give you document guaranteeing Vin matches vehicle. Perfectly acceptable here. Maybe AZ has similar verification process.
If you had an " open title in Florida " that would be considered " jumping the title '". Perhaps, that is Texas problem too?
Campervan Kevin is definitely someone I would like to have on my side.
I was going to read all comments b4 comenting but gave up after reading soo many. I live in Hood River Oregon in case you wanna sell, others were right about stopping all work until resolved! I once was buying a car from a so called friend that had a blown engine in high school. When he saw I had removed the engine and had it completely disasembled and ready for rebuild, he gave me my 1st payment back and reposessed it. I wont mention Steve Vances name over 40 yrs later because that would be very petty of me lol.
Eric I used to be a title clerk in fla, why cant the Oregon dealer reassign on the back of the title stating from that dealer you bought it from to you.??That is also what the reassignment form is which also will or should state the mileage it was sold with to you. The deal should then sign as seller and list your name as buyer.
I agree. The dealer didn't fill out the form properly in the beginning.
Finally someone saying what I’ve been thinking! 💯 agree!
Why hasn’t he signed it?
Another lesson to learn from this : don’t wait till your temporary permit expires before starting the process, do it ASAP
The dealership should be able to issue a certified bill of sale to you and it would be legal. I have bought out of stale vehicles that went through 3 different dealerships then I bought it. Got it registered easily i had bills of sale.
Yeah something is wrong with what he is telling us!
Texas no longer accepts a bill of sale.
Mr. Eric, I know you said if registered in Oregon, It takes forever to get a title. However, this may be easier in the long run. Of course I don't know if Oregon charges sales tax and if registering in Texas will also involve sales tax. In Arkansas, they came up with a great idea to charge sales tax on all vehicles, new or used. It stinks.
In the end it may be easier. Oh well my two cents.
Love tour show.
I’m not sure if this will be helpful but I am a Texas resident, flew to Arizona to buy an rv for a friend, registered it same day in Arizona so I could drive it home and they shipped title and plates to my home address in Texas. Once the reg was close to expiring with title in hand we registered it in Texas 😊 It was not from a dealer and you have another state involved so challenge is different but the moral of my story is we were able to register in Arizona and be a resident of Texas.
@@stevecoyotes1605 don't understand why that was warranted. I'm from Hawaii and live in Texas for work. Thanks though.
Hi Eric! Sorry to hear about your struggle to register your rv in Texas. After buying our Bigfoot in Washington, I also was unable to register my rv. My local Tag Agent was the best. Here in Oklahoma we have a form with State of Oklahoma motor vehicles called a Motor Vehicle Power of Attorney. I scanned for one in Texas and saw it. This allowed the prior owner of the rv to sign over the rights of the vehicle so I could fix the title. I had gone to the tag agent in Washington and they filled out the title incorrectly. If the dealership World of rv where you purchase the rv would sign this form for you, this form gives you the Power to be the power of attorney for the rv. After I had this form, I was able to tag our Bigfoot.
I bought a 2016 motor home In Texas and when I went to title it in Kansas they said the Chase o my class c was a 2015 so they changed my title to a 2015 which made me have a year of depreciation imediatly!
Can the Courts (any Courts, any state, anywhere??) help you in any way??
I can't imagine that you hadn't thought of this, but I wanted to reach out and ask. I'm all for this getting resolved for you, asap.
In other words, I'm all for you, Eric, and the kitties getting this resolved as soon as possible for you.

Thank you for this information. The question I have if it takes you awhile to get the title right will the inspection still be valid, like a time limit for validity?
I would of Lost my 💩 shit over this! Thank God you have Good friends to keep you levelheaded👍
Oregon DMV sure is a mess. Why wouldn't they require your name on the title as the buyer?
"Open Title State" BS! Really are Oregon folks backwards hillibillies? So what would happen when you sell the RV the new buyer would need your name on there as the seller? Holy cow manure! Or God forbid your RV is stolen how would you prove to Law Enforcement that you own it. Something is fishy in your explanation. Surely Oregon would not make their citizens wait months to get their title. Hope that "Dealer" you bought your RV from is not swindling you. Good Luck your fans out here wish you the best.

Kevin give E a home long time a go. Kman has a big heart. That why I will put up with the things he is selling to make a living. 😊
How do you get around an open title?
This is a temporary open title, and the situation can be quickly fixed if: The original seller applies for a duplicate title and signs it again. The buyer applies for a bonded title to transfer the ownership of the vehicle.
One other person mentioned how Blind Views explained how you got back to Arizona from Texas which you so conveniently left out of your very detailed explanation.😂
Go stay with Felix for a bit and have utilities put in your name until such time as you can get the registration done?? If that doesn't make sense, I'm sorry - just looking for a working solution.
When I spoke to the owner at Moon Mountain she stated that your LTVA receipt or renting a spot in a campground in Q would get you residency in AZ. Also, Parker is the place to go to get the residency as they do it every day. Also, my neighbor got a state id in AZ vs a DL as they are DL in CA but own property in AZ. As far as the title that sucks!
You can can get a seasonal AZ ID for sure. The snowbirds that come here from all over do it for the convenience of a local ID.
The state website clearly gives guidance on what is and isn’t acceptable for proof of residency. It’s fairly straight forward.
I literally walked into an Arizona DMV with my NY title and registration to find out what I needed to register in AZ. All I needed was an address… I used a friends…. They gave me a temporary tag right there in the spot. No extra proof needed. Just give it a try… I was shocked they gave it to me!
Great lesson in buying a titled item in Oregon. It wouldn’t have been a problem if Oregon treated titles like everywhere else.
Yeah, that Oregon title situation is complicating things, however I still believe you could establish AZ residence pretty quick... I did it with an RV park address... the ADOT did not give me any trouble with that...
North Carolina is the same way. I bought a RV in South Carolina and N.C. wouldn't allow me to register it. I convinced the DMV in S.C. to issue me a title in my name and my N.C. address with the promise I was going straight to the N.C. DMV to switch the title.
check out your state mechanic lien/mechanic title laws/requirements. that's how towing companies and repair shops get legal title to abandon cars/trucks.
different states have different requirements/wait times, but it's a way to get a clear title if nothing else works. i've done it in iowa, kansas and virginia. different state, different hoops and hassles, but end up with a clear title.
Damn! I’m sure glad I didn’t know all that about Arizona when I moved here over three decades ago and walked in and surrendered my Colorado driver’s license then walked ten feet in the MVD to register my Truck.
Laws change.
Kevin I have bought an RV out of state and used a friends address in that state to register it. Then did the transfer in my home state. No problems.
TY. Thanks for sharing. States need to streamline their vehicle "title" issues. There are problems without even leaving the state.
get an arizona drivers license, show your land tax forms and get a bill from water delivery service, then register vehicles. i don't get why that can't be done,
Yup... That makes total sense. It would be the same here in Massachusetts.

I bought an RV in Texas and brought it back home to Nebraska. I had to go to a Douglas County DMV that had an inspection station. They checked it all out and I was able to register it without issue. Sorry to hear you are having such issues with it.
You have 33 packages coming from amazon with your name and address on it. I’d save every label to show at DMV to prove residency. If it was good enough for USPS federal agency, hopefully good enough for state DMV
I bought a dodge charger back when I was 18 and went to do the title and 4 of the vin numbers were listed wrong or backwards. Anyway that had to be backtracked to when and where that happened. Getting my title ended up taking almost 2 years and during that time I drove it with expired tags the whole time. Every cop that pulled me over let me go after hearing the story and being I was legal in every other way.
I'm sorry you're going through this mess. I always dread going to the DMV. I seem to ALWAYS get a grumpy old battle axe that's having a bad day. And tries to find an excuse to send you to the back of the line.😨
Good luck and as always, Thumbs up👍
I did this with a car from upstate New York it was a pain in the A**. I purchased the vehicle and was taking it home to Michigan, however I was driving said vehicle home so I had to go to the dmv in New York and they had to call my insurance company back home then find out what size engine the car had and a bunch of other stuff. It was so frustrating.

It absolutely does make you a resident if you buy property in most states bud.
Every state would have an issue with that title.

But. Easier in AZ ... RELAX ..GET YOUR DUCKS IN A ROW ...TAKE A DEEP BREATH ... ARIZONA RESIDENT ..
You only need to register to vote in Arizona to become a state resident.
The dealer you bought from messed up. Let me explain here in NY. The dealer purchases this RV from the owner. Then puts on their lot to sell. They have the owner sign the title as seller. Plus any paperwork they need sign as seller. Then the dealer leaves buyer blank. So once it sells they put you as buyer. So on the title it appears you bought from the original owner. As a dealer they know forms the seller needs sign. But they don’t put themselves as buyer. Your name is buyer when you purchase it. That is how it should’ve been done
I had no idea registering a vehicle in a different state from where you bought it could be so complicated. That's crazy! Thank you for the education. Take care of yourself, Tara and Opie. Be safe

We bought a truck in Ohio. We live in the People’s Republic of Pennsylvania. It was a RIDICULOUS process to get the truck registered, titled, inspected, and taxed for PA. You make a good point about not crossing state lines to buy cars.
Your inspection report on the rv only lasts 30 days in Texas I believe, so you’re not able to fly back to finish paperwork, your rv might need another inspection
I was going to ask that same question. A lot of states have limitations on how old the inspection report can be - so, it's definitely something to look into prior to jumping on a plane to fly back to TX.
The people that work at this tax collector offices are idiots. Texas has no state income tax. Arizona has state income tax. Big factor.
USPS is the worst at delivering any type of packages. I have had two packages from AZ. to Chicago and they were lost or as we say LANSA. IF I need to send any important documents or packages I FedEx them.
So odd. I have had an online business for the last 13 years, I have never, never had a single package get lost from the USPS. Not even ones sent overseas to somewhat sketchy areas like Vietnam, South Korea, etc.
They may temporarily send it where it doesn’t belong, but they always end up going where they’re supposed to be.
One time I bought something on eBay from a person in Illinois and I live in Florida and the package went to Alaska first! 😂
HOWEVER, ALWAYS get your package shipping label scanned before leaving it with the post office. That way you have proof it was left with USPS. 👍🏻
Open unsigned titles will get you arrested in some states in travel... Oklahoma will also register out of state vehicles, if you get pulled over the officer might wonder why your Oklahoma tag has an out of state address lol,,, been there.
I realize you can’t publicly state you just put a plate on and hustled back to AZ.
I disagree with your statement about only buying within the State you have established legal residence. We have purchased 6 vehicles from motorcycles, automobiles, and a RV from other States with no issues. Just seems the problem is only with how your dealer and Oregon handles titles.
You needed a supplemental title transfer sewing the complete train of ownership the dealership should have provided that and I think they probably have one of those forms at their office all they need to do is fill it out and send it to you
I have yet to see anyone mention this, but Arizona has a 2.5% State Income tax, whereas Texas does not.
I have to be honest and say I can't really blame Texas for taking the position they took. Can you imagine what it would be like if people started showing up with Titles that didn't identify them as the legal owner, and getting vehicles registered in their names anyway? Even you mentioned you had to pause when you saw that the RV was effectively still titled in the dealership's name.
My guess is, the dealership being a dealership, they were interested only in getting the RV sold, later issues be damned as they wouldn't be the dealership's issue(s).
I have no doubt that fixing the issue will take time. Give it the time it needs and focus on other things and I have no doubt that, ultimately, you'll be fine.
The lady next door traded her SUV for another at a dealership across the state line. The dealership could never provide 🎉her with the correct title, she couldn't register the vehicle and she got a ticket for driving a vehicle with a fraudulent title. After months of no success she drove to the dealership said she was fed up was contacting a lawyer. They offered her the pick of any car on the lot, she ended up with a low mileage like brand new Merecedes E 350 worth far more than the SUV with a good title. I guess the dealership wanted no legal problems, she came out smelling like a Rose with that deal.
I live right next to Livingston Eric. If there an any silver lining, once this mess is straightened out, you should be able to renew your RV online and get a friend to overnight the renewal to you from your Onalaska address. Good luck and hope that everything turns out okay. Looks like just a waiting situation from Oregon.
