I am getting back into HiFi, started in the 70's. Just got Polk Audio Signature Elite ES50 and got a free PSW10 with them. From Crutchfeild. I paired them with an Aiyima T9 Pro. They sound amazing!!
just received v3 also. nice and correct sound for the size and the money, doesn't get warm. but with first size power supply and 89 dB 6ohm drivers, it has the same power as a 7W vaccum tubes nobsound amp. don't buy it for the power, buy it for the compromise. I would've taken a bt20, with bass and treeble tuning possibilities. now next step is a correct Dac
Love u Randy Your channel is fun and educational. I’m old enough to remember when Zeppelin 1 came out. Been playing drums all my life. My set up is modest. Denon PMA-520 Polk LSi7 I have no reason to upgrade. My ears are shot out and so is my bank account but I’d love to hang out.
Picked up a Fosi BL20C on sale a year ago or so. Ran it in my vintage record cabinet and the old speakers finally gave up the ghost even running on low power (60 yr old speakers 😬) so now I’m pairing it with some ELAC B6 OG speakers that I’m mounting in the cabinet this weekend. Couldn’t be happier with cheap audio gear it’s truly impressive
Been jamming out with my Fosi TB10D almost daily for a couple months now. Probably the biggest thing to be aware of is these products are like a gateway drug to more expensive hifi. I'm finding myself looking at $1000+ integrated amps now which were never part of the original plan.
That Fosi still rocking? I am just starting, and have no idea what to buy but I've heard good things about the Fosi. Idk if I need an amp, AVR, receiver, DAC, but I just need to start with a solid 2.1. I've got an idea that I may want a Fosi to save money and put that money towards solid bookshelfs or towers, and a great sub like a Speedwoofer or HSU research 15"... Can I stream music easily from my iPhone?
To add to the Amazon reviews comment, I always check the 1 and 2 star comments first. Aside from the useless 1 star comments because the item arrived broken or not delivered on time, you can get a good idea of common problems. There was one product I was looking at where there were a bunch of comments about the knob breaking. They loved the product, but many users after a few weeks, few months or year, would have the knob break on them. In this case the negative reviews were quite helpful.
Excellent comments Randy, Thanks I just replaced my powered speakers with some Kef Q100s and have been watching your reviews of cheap amps, was about to pull the trigger on the Douk ST-01 when I saw you compared it to a vintage Kenwood, and I thought wait a minute i have a yamaha cr-440 just sitting on a shelf in the basement. Not anymore, thanks you just saved me $200 Cdn. The Yammy loves the Kefs
For me it's not where it's from but how they deal with issues when stepping up to the plate. As long as you're buying through Amazon (as you've mentioned before) that's a great layer of security right there!
I recently bought the Fosi record preamp based on your recommendations. I like it. It would be cool if you went in-depth about the chip switching to talk about and where we could get them. I’m new to the CHI-FI market. I’ve always love records and build my own speakers regularly. I was running my record player on a AVR until you talked about how they aren’t the greatest for music, so I used an old Harmon Kardon HK3600 I got off a job site when we demoed the house. Made a difference. Do you have a Facebook group that is not Patreon based? If not, that sucks 😆 I need to find those like minded people somewhere other than Parts Express.
Do let us know if you find a good group. Reddit may be better than FB. I recently changed out the TI Opamps on a DIYRE HC1 with some discretes from Orange Amps. Found I needed an 18V supply to make them work properly. No other way than trial and error to get it right.
I bought a Wiim and it broke, I reached out to Wiim and they sent me a brand new Wiim for free and didn't want me to ship the broken one back. Wiim has great support and customer service! The Wiim is really awesome!
I've been using the Fosi Audio BT 300 2.1 bluetooth power amp, supplied a signal by Reiyen Dac, going to a pair of Carvin SRS monitors and some random 10" subwoofer I had laying around and it sounds great, especially since I installed Peace and Equalizer APO on my PC to tweak the sound. Throw in a pair of Koss KSC75's with a cushion mod and I'm extremely happy for the money I have invested, since I bought the speakers used.
There is another positive aspect to these more basic pieces of audio gear. Being rather simplistic, there are fewer bells and whistles to die unexpectedly and fubar the whole unit.
It might be worth mentioning that the 475 amazon reviews of the Fosi BT20A Pro is because they reused an old listing for the BT30A... a bit shady, but quite common practice on amazon. Not that there's anything wrong with the BT20A Pro (I'm the glad owner of both a BT20A Pro and a TB10D), but some might see the amount of reviews and get a wrong impression... when in reality there's only like 30+ reviews.
I'm also not sure that because Randy has some sort of agreement with Fosi whether Paid Promotion should be seen even though the video was general advice. It's just good practice to be upfront as it never looks good if there's a retrospectively found conflict of interest. No concerns with Randy I just know what the ravenous internet mob are like.
Some of these products are so cheap that if you can't return it you're not losing that much. And if a cheap $60 amp lasts only one year you have probably already got your money's worth.
China makes good stuff, just gotta do your research to get something that's good. Just like any other product these days, you gotta do your own research get screwed over. That's why I love your channel, helps me make informed decisions!
I watch all of your video’s before i buy cheap audio!! So far i have sent back an MM pre-amp, an A07 and another Aiyima product, all lasted a week before dropping channels or crackling. Cheap sound equates to cheap construction & engineering i have found. So in this video you are basically saying that you read reviews to find out if these things are lasting? After you recommended them to me?
When deciding or when comparing cheap eBay audio components to normal gear, a good rule of thumb is to double the price of the cheap gear, because they last at most half as long. You may then decide that the more modest discount is or is not worth the risk.
Hi Randy, digging your channel and reviews! What do you think of using the Fosi Audio V3 with outdoor speakers, PSB CS1000? I was using a Lepai 2020+ with no regrets. However one of the spring click broke and repairs aren't practical and not worth swapping with a new spring clip row.. Interested in maybe buying a new budget quality amp for outdoor use (speakers stay outside under a covered patio, but the electronics go inside after use).
I saw these Rockville 3.5inch speakers on Amazon, was thinking of using them for Atmos effects or surrounds…. I mean they can’t be worse than the old Bose at the same size with their markups
Parts Express has great US-based customer service, though shipping cost for returns is on you. Dayton Audio is PE's "house brand", and they are the US distributor for Lepai (not Lepy) amps. Overall, I'm pretty impressed with PE's service. Are you interested in testing some of their newer products?
Thats a great deal, I bought one a few years ago and loved it so much I now have 2, I could use a third for my office, but i scored a 1990 onkyo cd player for $29 at an auction and it works flawlessly. Onkyo makes an outstanding CD player.
@wooddragon576 I want the Integra as well. Onkyo owns them and I did buy 2 and should be here this week. Good to here you like them. Using as a transport only here.
Hey @cheapaudioman great channel, very informative. Ditching the soundbars and taking a dive into HiFi? Any recommendations for a solid AVR that I can grow with? I'm a massive cinema guy. Leaning towards a Denon 7.1, 95w per channel, maybe an SVS sub and satellites to start. Was very impressed with the SVS prime sub and satellites in a home theatre demo. Thanks!
Hi Randy, ive got s question and would like to hear what you think. Im currently running a pair of KEF Q350s from Cambridge Audio AXR100 amp and would like to add a small sub. Would this amp be able to run my speakers and a sub or do subs require their own amp? Very confusing as the SvS3000 micro has a 800rms rating. Thanks
hi Randy. I love your videos. I just bought a Fosi BT20A and would like a recommendation for a preamp with phono input, and two RCA inputs (CD player and Cassette Desk). (I amusing a separate phono preamp and a 3 way manual switch GoHiFiAudio S1. Do you have a recommendation for a pre-amp with phone amplifier and two RCA inputs?
No. Fosi and Aiyima are definitely not and quite competitive actually. Douk and Nobsound are under the same umbrella. there were some products like the T9 and Douk ST01 that were fundamentally identical. But not the same company. I have contacts at all and they all in are comp with each other. Sabaj and SMSL are closely related too.
nothing. but that's kind of a cynical view point. trust and verify or don't trust and think the worst. I try to be optimistic and if I get burned then I get burned. I always recommend people come to their own conclusions
@@cheapaudioman I don't get free stuff sent to me by dealers. Getting burned matters to me. Everyone over 10 years old has heard of false review schemes.

That's not really how the Amazon rating system works. The stars are the average rating from that many reviews, not how many reviews at that rating. *ALWAYS* Read the reviews. There can be hundreds or thousands of 5 star reviews from people who buy something, see it "works" for what they want and then review it there and then with even less testing than you do. "Arrived on time - 5 stars". Not to mention they recycle ratings from other products. You can find pages and pages of positive reviews for things that are not the item you are looking at. I'll give you an example, I bought a microphone arm in a rush for the next day because it's description ticked the boxes, it had about 5000 reviews and the average was 4.-something. I got it and it was rubbish, couldn't hold up a Blue Yeti let alone a more weighty professional condenser mic. Go and read the actual reviews and there are 250 of them that say it's absolutely terrible for anything but the lightest mics, and that even some of the high rated reviews say things like "screeches like a cat in heat when you try to move it, but I gave it 5 stars as I got it cheap" or "Doesn't do what I wanted it, 5 stars for quick return though". Digging a little deeper I realise that a lot of the 5 star reviews are for a completely different mic arm, they are for a previous version that was seemingly much better made, and that current version being sold is a much cheaper copy. Amazons rating system is atrocious for this, and why people who use it constantly like me come to UA-cam to look for real reviews.
It's not like Marantz, Yamaha,Rotel etc don't have any problems is it ? Oh hang on you can get it repaired (ever tried) it takes months . So buying from Amazon is as safe as anywhere else, cheap mid higher end gear . Most of these audio company's use China parts yet get miffed when they sell there own wares . They are getting better and better .
anyone know of a review site that reviews those chinese clone stuff? they look really good and pretty affordable but no reviews so i dont buy....theres even a nice r2r dac that a normal person can afford lol
just sold a set of sony cs5 for $60. sat on marketplace for over a month but guy who bought them was happy as hell. Far as the fosi tb10d with the (TPA3255 600w) amp goes. bought one for wifes pc with a set of klipsch r41m sounds fairly decent. However i have the same r41m on my pc with the douk m1 pro with the (TDA7498E 320w) chip and using the same 32v 5a power supply my douk gets soooo much louder then the fosi. i dont know if that would change with the larger psu or not.
