If Tesla were to change their minds and offered a retrofit, would you take it and what price would be considered reasonable before walking away?
Already on hw3, bought MY 1 and half year ago. That's weird and it feels like Elon lies somewhat. In Europe there's still no FSD capability.
@DLcine although true, Europe gets a steep discount for FSD in comparison to US and CA
@@heyJohnEe true, but it is still VERY expensive and gives absolutely no improvement versus improved AP. Completely useless.
@DLcine that, I don’t disagree
@@DLcine that's because Elon lied people died
The problem is Tesla was still selling cars with HW3 not even 6 months ago. So someone with a 6 month old 2023 Model Y with FSD is now expected to buy another new car if they want FSD? Now thats some balls.
That’s exactly it. Right now they’re promoting buying the old model y knowing the new one is around the corner
@@heyJohnEe Hey John do you know of any documentation that explains how the hardware system for FSD works and all the components involved? I've been looking but I can't find anything that gives much detail.
@lashlarue59 unfortunately no sorry
I'm HW3 with FSD (2019 M3P), I'll gladly take a FSD refund from Tesla if it's not supported any more. I don't use it much anyway, since it never worked to my satisfaction.
I think they’ll fight that it’s FSD feature complete stated on their site
Elon lied people died
I also have a 19 M3P and I absolutely love FSD. It’s exceeded my expectations, I barely drive these days and have minor interventions where I have to correct the vehicles routing
I have HW3 and I find this news hilarious as I had zero expectations of Tesla following thru on their promise of FSD. I highly doubt HW4 vehicles will qualify either. FSD is a scam.
Yeah we’ll only officially know which hardware is capable when the time comes
Waiting until H2 2025 for refreshed Model Y Long Range AWD with AI-5.
Yup AI-5 going to be big, wait if you can
Yes, I'm expecting that will be a milestone of mature technology. Everything we've seen so far, as amazing as it is, is still beta software and hardware.
show of hands, how many of you still have hardware 3 and mad that they can't fulfill nor retrofit newer hardware. Im thinking the majority is on HW4 or doesn't care about FSD anyways
Do you think HW4 will be able to use FSD fully or am I never gonna see it after ordering the performance model 2024
@@starcola157do you think you could try harder to not show off that you have a performance model? No one cares or needs to know that.
You could’ve just asked about HW4. All you guys are the same 😂
@starcola157 HW4 doesn’t have all the sensors required for full autonomy, hence HW5 is going into production soon. Although HW4 should still get updates for many years
@@georgevigil7001 stay mad buddy
Yes, pissed. Purchased FSD for $15000 with the promise that I would eventually have full self-driving. Not beta, not supervised but full FSD. My vehicle is a 2022 still under full warranty and is already outdated and will not achieve what I was promised and what I paid for. A $60,000 vehicle that is outdated in only 2 years. Is this a joke? I'm sure there must be some bamboozling fine print or else they would surely be having a class action lawsuit that they could not win.
Start a X protest for a retrofit @elon ?
😂
so John, that means we're screwed in anybody who has an older tesla won't be able to use FSD?
Not necessarily. You’ll still be able to use FSD at its current capabilities, likely up till v12.5. By then anything going forward in terms of improvements will not be available to older Teslas with HW3
Do you know when the ambient lighting and front camera update is coming to the Tesla Model S Plaid? And does it also apply to Europe?
There was word that it was coming alongside the efficiency package, but I guess that changed
@@heyJohnEe hey thanks for the reply. Where can I stay updated on when this is releasing etc ? And do you think it will still come in 2024?
@sergiboy69420 here. Make sure you subscribe
Tesla or someone should build retro fit computers as it sounds like that is the main bottle neck. I bought my 2019 M3 brand new and being in IT I was well aware of the life span of bleeding edge Tech. The plan was to keep the Model 3 for 10 years and I am sticking to that. That being said. If Tesla or some enterprising guy were to build retro fit computers I would pay $2000 for a new computer as I have Full Self Driving so it would be nice to have the latest computer running the show.
There’s always comma ai
Hello. So i'm a little confused about this. First off, I just got my VIN assigned this morning for my new M3P ultra red!! Super excited! I will be trading in my 21 M3P. So are you suggesting that whoever purchases my trade in down the road will not have any support? That doesn't seem feasible. Surely, they would have to offer over the air updates because things change.. They shouldn't be excluded just because their car is a little older.
They’ll get regular software updates but full self driving improvements will be no longer seen. It ends after 12.5, most likely when Tesla moves over to the new AI model
@@heyJohnEe cool. That makes a lot more sense.
Are the model 3 highlands from December hw4?
All highland are hw4
My 2023 ylr has hardware 3 and recently got this vehicle so they are not supporting this fairly new vehicle????
Even a couple months is considered old now. Luckily the Model Y hasn’t been upgraded yet, imagine model 3 owners who just took delivery last year and within a month it became a legacy model after the redesign came out
Never buy one again.
There is no source that says that HW3 won't be "supported" anymore or won't receive updates anymore in the near future. It will surely happen one day but the assumption that millions of HW3 cars won't get any updates, from the moment Tesla is working with HW4 capability is kinda ridiculous imo.
@Tschacki_Quacki Elon confirmed it, it’s not an assumption
Dont trade your HW3 car for a HW4 car with HW5/AI5 around the corner
Only if you urgently need a car
@@heyJohnEe yeah I just meant dont trade HW3 for HW4. If you need a new car go for either.
I thought HW3 and HW4 have the same Ryzen CPU in later models.
The Ryzen is part of the infotainment system, separate from the FSD board
But my car is less than a month old and I have hardware 3!!!!!!!!
Which car do you have? It’s very unlikely for a 3 month car to still be on HW3
@@heyJohnEeI have a model y and it doesn’t have red cameras and still has the long indicator light on the housing
@soysauce6977 when did you take delivery? All gigafactories shifted Model Ys to HW4 start of 2024. I believe Berlin was the latest but still anything after Jan 2024 should be HW4
@@heyJohnEe I took delivery in August, it’s from Shanghai if that’s significant
@soysauce6977 what you mean August 2023 right? Because you said it’s less than a month old, I’m confused
