      Hi!
      ありがとうございます! Thank you so much for your warm comment.
      I and my family are fortunate that we have not been involved in any accidents or earthquakes. I am truly heartbroken by the disasters that have occurred in the New Year. I will continue to be careful and live with a thankful heart.

    Are these 2024 new year's gift for me?!😄 Both meats, vegetables, addictive sauce~ all good to complete myself. Liking even in serving with rice.😃 Mouth watering looks very delicious hungry!
    Received feeling during some time Japanese meats have became more fresh. There are many sensei made to teach me so i am going to be busy this year closer.🥲😊

    About 20 years ago, I tried making karaage with potato starch. I added *A LOT* of potato starch. After frying, the chicken was white with potato starch and it tasted like flour. I didn't want to use it any more. Now I know I should use a lot less.

    Super nice as usual, Sayaka. Winter food. I love both daikon and renkon. Daikon I often have to substitute for other roots, but renkon I find frozen raw here in Bucharest. Will make the pork with the sauce! Arigato and Happy New Year!

    The closest place for me to find lotus root is three hours away. So it is a rarity for my family. I was also thinking that parsnip could be a decent substitute for daikon. Parsnip is a root vegetable like a carrot, but it is often white and has a light spicy flavor; one I associate with daikon.

    • @JapaneseCookingChannel

      That's a long drive to get lotus root!
      I've never seen Parsnip here in Japan, but it should be good substitute. Thanks for telling about it 😆

    HELP: Love japanese food, one of my favourites would be Unagi rolls. I even made eggs with I think it was dashi back then and it tasted amazing and reminded me of the really nice eggs you would get at take outs. Now onto my question, what are the basic ingredients I need for the rice, Dashi, mirin, Is it light or dark soy sauce? Red or white miso paste? Thank you again for the fun channel.

      Thank you so much for your comment.
      "Are there any seasonings needed when cooking rice?" Is that what you mean?
      Or are you asking about the seasonings in this video?

      @@JapaneseCookingChannel Okay to help, I am moving into my new place soon, so money will be tight and I dont really cook that much and trying to save money, however I have tried dashi before and would like to use it more often same as soy, however I dont want to overspend and want to experiment with the rice like you did in your video, but with the rice cooker etc. But I want to make sure I am buying the right ingredients to start with. I am familiar with mirin, just havent found a reason to buy it as I wouldnt use it that much, now I know i can use it in rice, I can buy it. But there is a difference with the soy sauces and the miso paste, there is different types for different uses and I dont want to get the wrong thing as it will definitely affect the taste. I hope that makes sense. So if i wanted to experiment with rice like in your video what are the basic sauces I need for it????

    • @JapaneseCookingChannel
      @JapaneseCookingChannel  5 місяців тому

      I think buying soy sauce, mirin, sake, and oyster sauce is good to try these recipes.
      If you can't find mirin, please skip it.
      You can check the detail information (seasonings you need for this recipe) in the description section. So, please check it out when you have a time 😊

      @@JapaneseCookingChannel Thank you for the information very helpful. Will check out individual recipes for seasonings also vegetables available as they are very different in australia the part I am in. Which type of soy sauce should you use for this, I think there are 5 different types for different uses, the main ones are either light or dark soy sauce, which should I use?

    • @JapaneseCookingChannel
      @JapaneseCookingChannel  5 місяців тому

      I think light soy sauce is good. By the way, this type of soy sauce is commonly used in Japan, although it may be called all-purpose soy sauce in English👇
