Hahaha yes we are always excited about Indonesian food, this episode means a lot to us as we wanted to show you guys our favourite cuisine, food we grew up with 🥰
This is awesome guys! Love hearing you speak in your language and making this video with the typical Indonesian food and places to eat! Happy Indonesian Independence Day
Yummm nasi kuning! We love turmeric and then all the great dishes to go with it. Love the up close shots of that tender beef rendang. And more turmeric on the chicken! Looks awesome, guys!
Ox tongue satay?! Now that sounds incredible! And you get more if you skip the rice? Even better! Peter’s reaction says it all - wow!! Need to try that!
Yes ox tounge satay is so incredibly delicious, a true Indonesian delicacy 👍🏻 Haha Peter loves his ox tounge satay so much, you guys have to try when you find one in NYC 😃
That’s so nice for your chef friend to make you some rendang hati sapi. Sounds delicious guys 👍🏻🤤 Always nice to have chef friend who can cook some amazing dishes and share amongst friends 👌🏻
Great to hear more about the background of the beef rendang. Do remember hearing about the saucier versions being called Kalio before. Cassava leaf curry looks and sounds so delicious. Curry and intense flavors with veggies is such a winning combo
Thanks guys! Always love to hear you guys describe the food you had in your videos too 👍🏻 Yes, the kalio is something we didn’t know before too. All we know, the beef rendang is the one like the first restaurant we went in this video, the saucier one, since we lived in Java island most of our time. Until we got to know Padang food, then we know their beef rendang is the original version of beef rendang. Both are delicious though!
Oh yeah you really may have saved the best for last! Love ayam penyet and would absolutely love to try the iga penyet! That’s the cut of beef rib that we just love
Oh my god! look at those noodles! So nice that we could see the action in the kitchen. the prices are great, $8.50 for a plate of noodles? wow!!! The last place has a long line indeed!the smashed ribs look so good Sambal uh? never had the opportunity to try all these delicious food You guys look so happy with this video, and I know we all love to eat but you have a special light in your eyes and face, both of you! LOVE IT!!!! Thank for the tour through the 5 top recommendations that you both have for us :)
Yooo guys! Great to see you talking in your native tounge 😁👍 lucky nick n helmi they will understand. The crispy wonton and satay looked good but that last place with the iga pwnyet and sour soup o my gosh save me some 😍😍😍❤
Thanks guys!! Haha yeah Nick & Helmi will understand for sure. The last place is our favourite too for deep fried meal with sambal and the soup is my (Ony) favourite soup. It is originated from the province I am from 😃
Thanks guys!! Yes long line sometimes is a good sign! Haha Both penyet dishes we ordered at the last location are the best ones you can find in Melbourne. 🤤
Thanks so much!! ❤️ Haha yeah we love our T-shirts Yeah Melbourne is a quite expensive in comparison to most Asian countries, we still love living in Melbourne though 😊 it’s a very love-able city 🥰
omg guys i feel like you guys are more comfortabke speaking your native language! i dont mind watching it you speaking bahasa!! i should try to speak a while episode in chinese
Hehehe yeah it does look like it in this video because we are so passionate about Indonesian food, the food that we grew up with 🥰 also speaking in mother language does sound more fluent still for us. Maybe we couldn’t show the same excitements if we were talking about another topic we are not too familiar with 😅
the mie ayam looks so good! and also the pork belly one. they remind me of lo mein noodles which i LOVE i think those two are probs my fav, followed by the satays ! i actually dont know too much about Indonesian cuisine but it does remind me a lot of malaysian food. thanks for taking us on this indo food tour ! :D
Ahh lo mein! We love it too, yes it’s similar 😃 Malaysian food actually shares some similarities with Indonesian food, because we close to each other in terms of the location. Glad to hear you enjoyed this video 🥰
Happy Independence day to Indonesia! Very cool that you did this in Indo! I like the seafood fried rice and the beef lung.. 😋 chicken noodle looks fantastic! Now the hard part is deciding which of the 5 restaurants to try if/when we go there lol 👍
Thanks guys 😁 The beef lung is really delicious 🤤 not for everyone’s palate though haha Chicken noodle was awesome and great price too 😋 Haha yes it’s hard to decide which restaurant is our favourite too 😅
Hahaha great to hear you guys both also enjoyed beef lung as much as we do. Nice to know you guys also have access to beef lung in NYC 👍🏻👍🏻 Haha the brain is not for the faint hearted I think 😅
We also have a hard time when the menus are so complete. Usually just ask the waiter for recommendations. Your spread looks fantastic. The noodles with the pork is probably our favorite. Those fried wontons though. Wow!
True, should ask the waiter for recommendation! Haha I think it’s because they try to include pictures of the food as well on the menu, that’s why the menu feels quite long haha. That Indonesian style wontons are the best for entree actually, while waiting for other food to arrive 😋 Thanks guys for watching ❤️
Love learning about Indonisia Independence day and really like that you guys are speaking Indonisean. We'll need to speak all Spanish in one episode. Haha :-) That first dish looks spectacular. That beef is gorgeous! Really like it's cafeteria style too.
Thanks guys ❤️ Yes you guys should do a video in Spanish once! Would love to watch it. Love the Spanish accent 👍🏻 The first dish is something Indonesians normally eat in day to day basis 😋 always a go to dish when we crave for home style Indonesian food
So much food!! Omg! Beef rendang, beef lung, satays! Wow. Love your guys enthusiasm and love to hear the Bahasa too! Is english your second language then?😁👍
Thanks so much for watching guys ❤️ Haha yeah this video does show our enthusiasm about Indonesian food, the food we grew up with 👍🏻 Yes English is our second language hehe 😃
Would love to try rendang. Not sure about the beef lung. Haha The satay looks so very good. More satay, yay!!! That 3rd restaurant sounds like it could be our favorite.
You guys should try beef rendang. It is delicious 🤤 Haha beef lung is not for everyone’s palate for sure. But if you like it, you’ll be hooked to it 🥰 Haha yeah can’t go wrong with a good satay sticks 😃
I don't think I ever tried Rendang beef yet! It's so cheap for AUD 12. Same for Beef lung. I have tried different parts of beef, but I cannot say I tried the lung. Looks very yummy. Satay sticks look so amazing too with plentiful of sauce. Food seems so cheap where you live too
For some reason I always thought chicken satay is Thai cuisine. Learned something new today! Grilled beef also looks like my favorite from Kedai Satay restaurant. Yummmm
How many days did you guys film this? SOOOO much food for a single day! haha Chicken noodle dish at the 4th restaurant looks quite plane in the video but I am so the fresh ingredients and preparation make all the difference. Beef ball soup looks super yummy too
Look at all that line! That must be a great sign. It's cool that they're expanding branches. Ayam Penyet.... omg.... I have a weakness for fried food. Sweet and sour soup looks so good too. Must go well with fried food.
Pas ke Melbourne 2015 cuma sempat cobain ke Nelayan krn paling deket dr Hotel..take away dinner Soto Ayam porsi lumayan gede ,lucunya gk ada jeruk nipis dikasihnya jeruk lemon..😂
🤤🤤 Indonesian food is so good!! The place near me (Dapur Indo in Springvale) does these julienne potatoes deep fried and covered in something that makes them sweet and sticky. I don't know what they're called but they are so yummy
Ah yes we heard about Dapur Indo before but didn't remember if we ever tried it before. Have to check it out if we are around the area. I think I know that julienne deep fried potatoes thing. We call it "keripik kentang" basically like chips but covered in spicy & sweet sauce. Agree, they are so yummy!
Oh Ralph, hope you can find a good Indonesian restaurant where you live right now. We think you’ll enjoy Indonesian food since we can see you have a high tolerance of spicy food 👍🏻 Thanks so much for watching ❤️
Happy Indonesian Independence day! Food looks amazing. Nice that they invite you to kitchen and see how they making there food :) Noodle dish looks pretty good
Great vid! Thanks for sharing your eats. The last stop recently joined my hit list of places to visit as they have pukis!! Feel in love with pukis in Bali 😍 Do you know of anywhere else?
Thanks so much for watching our video. Ah yes I love pukis too. I believe you can find it in traditional market or food vendors on the street in big cities. It's a popular Indonesian sweet snacks. We can even get from an Indonesian-Asian supermarket here in Melbourne as many Indonesian cake makers can make it :)
@@nicolefalzon9775 Ah You can try get it from Grand Laguna Supermarket in Hawthorn. They normally stock pukis and other Indonesian snacks but make sure you check with the store first, because they sold out quite fast because the snacks are fresh so stocks are limited :)
Maybe try Yuni's Kitchen in Northcote. It doesn't do bain marie style but cooks fresh to order like a true restaurant. While more expensive than all the listed outlets here are much bigger step in quality and plating. Worth a look.
Satay yaaaay! So yummuy, but OMG Australina prices are high!! Now that we are travelling Malaysia and knowing some of the people who visited Indonesia...the foods and all...when we see the prices of things in AUS we are like "are we even gonna make it there someday??".
Hey guys, yes Australia price is high compared to Southeast Asian price. Food in Indonesia is so cheap too compared to Australia. Hehe yeah it’s a bit of planning to visit Australia, the visa requirements need some preparation to make. But it’s worth it, you’ll love it 🥰
We have tried YOI before, although we think they haven't been around when we recorded the video last year. YOI is pretty good although the portion is a bit small
Should try Sambal warung ijo not far from Ayam Penyet Ria you guys at. Personally one of the best Padang food in Melbourne. Also there is Famili Ria for their Pempek.
Hi Yunanto, thanks for watching our video 😊 Yes we tried sambal warung ijo, the last time was 2 years ago I think. At that time it didn’t hit the mark for us unfortunately. But will definitely give it another try in the future, as we heard great things about some of delicious food they serve recently. Same goes with Famili Ria. As Peter is from South Sumatra, he’s very particular on how pempek should taste. He said it didn’t really impress him so much haha. But will definitely give another go for sure. Considering them to be in our next indo food video 👍🏻
Thank you. Pls can you rate the spice levels of the rendang on a scale of 1 to 10. I.e which one is recommendable for someone with low level chilli heat tolerance. ☺️
For us since we love spicy food, Nelayan's rendang is not spicy, maybe only 2 out 10. But for low level spicy tolerance, maybe 5 out of 10? 😀 You can always ask to put the rendang on the side of the plate or in a separate bowl/plate.
Ah yes, so many good Indonesian restaurants in Melbourne right? It was hard to pick top 5, but this is last year’s video, we might need to pick new list 😁 Batavia Cafe and Famili Ria are strong contenders 👍🏻 we love them too
Hahaha the fried beef lung is sooooo good!! Super tasty and flavourful ❤️ very intense lung flavour. The brain is not for everyone’s taste I think hahaa, but Peter loves it
Restaurant Indonesia gak Stable makananya , batagor di goreng sampe item garing. Itu namanya udah Not Fresh.
Two Hungry Diners wah udah coba banyak tempat , and find most are dirty ( tables , floor, wall and features not good ). below standard .rendangnya Asin banget nasinya lembek mungkin rice Cooker rusak jadi Ngaco
should try dpenyetz! or pondok nasi bakar di Geelong, menurut aku 2 ini ter the best di melbourne, hampir semua menunya enak2, untuk nasi bungkus, ak paling suka dari garam merica & warung sambel ijo😍
Happy Indonesian Independence Day! We’ve tried our best to cover all different regions where these Indonesian food come from in this video.

Same goes with Famili Ria. As Peter is from South Sumatra, he’s very particular on how pempek should taste. He said it didn’t really impress him so much haha. But will definitely give another go for sure. Considering them to be in our next indo food video 👍🏻
Dang it is Monday morning before bkfst and we cant get good food like that here!
Oh hahahah morning guys! 😁
I know right, this episode is making us drooling 🤤 😁
YUK DA GA SABAR HAHA 😂
Ga sabar banget, soalnya udah laparrrrr 😂😂😂
omg aug 17 ! so this video was just made few days ago!!
Hahaha we actually filmed this started from 2 months ago I think and the last restaurant was filmed last week 😆
OMG THIS IS LIKE A DRY VERSION NOODLE..WITH SOUP ON SIDE,..I LIKE TO EAT THIS ALOT..THERE A CHINESE VERSION OF THIS AS WELL SO GOOD
Haha yes it’s a dry version of noodle soup. Oh yeah love the chinese version too. We are big fans of all things noodle. Can’t live without it 😂

Hi, yes, I (Ony) am from Bogor, Peter isn't :)
Thanks for watching! 🥰
I dont know but I think If I had to choose only 5, I would replace Nelayan with Batavia Cafe or Family Ria 😁. But yes, Ayam Penyet Ria is a must!
Ah yes, so many good Indonesian restaurants in Melbourne right? It was hard to pick top 5, but this is last year’s video, we might need to pick new list 😁
Batavia Cafe and Famili Ria are strong contenders 👍🏻 we love them too
How do u eat so much in a day ,...
We actually filmed this in 3 different days 😊
@@TwoHungryDiners the magic of editing made it look like one day :) my wife is Indo so I have the best of both worlds. Indo and Malaysian food.

AND BEEF BRAIN OMG! YOU GUYS ARE VERY ADVENTUROUS I LIKE IT1
Hahaha the fried beef lung is sooooo good!!
Maka mesti digoreng sampe sedemikian rupa , makan bakmi direbus sampe Lodoh , ada lagi mienya direbus kurang keseluruhan ada yg menggumpal seperti bola golf gak ke rebus sempurna , pesan Bebek bakar di kasih ayam bakar 😂😂😂😂 cumah achir2 tahun ini Restaurant Indo di renovasi keliatan lebih bagus ……..harganya yah Gak murah 😅😅😅
Nelayan ( Swanton St) beli 1 teri kacang Take away mesti Surcharged 🤮🤮🤮 Latrobe kata kita nice setting and Good atmosphere and makanan Ok , ini pengalaman aku di Restaurant2 Indonesia di Melbourne Gak ada yg enak ❌❌❌❌
Kalian bedua asli mana
Bogor and South Sumatra :)
Nelayan enak ? Apa bener ? Belum ketemu makanan indonesia yg betul2 enak !
Two Hungry Diners wah udah coba banyak tempat , and find most are dirty ( tables , floor, wall and features not good ). below standard .rendangnya Asin banget nasinya lembek mungkin rice Cooker rusak jadi Ngaco
should try dpenyetz! or pondok nasi bakar di Geelong, menurut aku 2 ini ter the best di melbourne, hampir semua menunya enak2, untuk nasi bungkus, ak paling suka dari garam merica & warung sambel ijo😍
indoesian food is not complete without sambal!
Yes that’s sooo true!! We love our sambal so much 😍
