Despite people usually drinking soup to warm up when it's cold out, a lot of my family actually says to drink soup when its hot to cool down. They say this because when you're hot and you drink hot soup you sweat more and _that's_ the key to cooling down.
I just made this dish today and it was incredible. I wanted to know what the base soup tasted like so I did not add the extra shredded cheese. I also diced my potatoes up into 1 inch cubes. I only blended half the potato chunks so I could have some cubed. I've made potato soup in the past and it wasn't very impressive. It seems the cream cheese was my missing ingredient. When I added that to this soup as instructed it gave my soup thickness and more flavor. Thanks so much for sharing this. I really enjoyed watching you prepare the meal as well as cooking it myself.
I have just discovered this channel. (9/7/19) I am trying his Ultimate Slow Cooker Potato Soup as I write this comment. I have watched a number of his videos & I am amazed at how easy his recipes are. We love Mac 'n Cheese & "super" surprised at this smart way to simplify this classic comfort food recipe. I am definitely going to try this recipe( Mac 'n Cheese) out. David sure does live up to his name-"The One Pot Chef". I am a lazy man in the kitchen, & he has taught me the easy way to cook, with the least amount of pots, pans & utensils to wash up. Thank you for your inspiration, not to mention encouragement David; through your easy-peasy recipes & down to earth manner.

My mom made this and when I would make it it was missing something. I asked her what she did different. She said she puts 2 large spoons of bacon grease in the soup Add some half and half cream. I put a few carrots and a few frozen peas also. I also use powdered chicken bullion mixed with water. It has way more flavor. Also add some parsley. Looks pretty. Cheese and bacon on top Make a Skillet of cornbread and u are set. I leave potatoes chunky!

I love it!!! I was thinking that There is not much extra that I would add to Your yummy soup. Then I thought about it. How about a small dollup of sour cream and some crispy ( from the box) French- fried Onions for a bit of crunch. Serve along side a delicious salad and a slice or 2 of toasted baguette. YUM!!! Now, I need to go and make Myself some. LOL!!!

Love "tater" soup. When I was a kid it was the thing I'd ask mom to make more than any other. She's fry up bacon as well, but we just ate it on the side along with a pan of corn bread.
