Thank you for sharing your expertise. I think the following would help me to fill in the gaps in my understanding of the hydraulic system... if the engine were to shut off while driving and the pumps cease to be activated, what keeps the braking system working?Thank you,Greg
H Greg. The pumps actually pump the brake fluid to the accumulator valve body/bodies that are located at the side/sides of the engine block. There the fluid pressure will build up and be kept in the accumulator spheres. The accumulator valve body regulate the correct working pressure, roughly about 2,000 to 2,500 psi. So,if your engine stalls or shuts off,the fluid pressure in the accumulators will be good for some 50 pedal pumps before the brake pressure warning lamp comes on. Some said a really good working system can easily gives you over 60 or 70 pumps. 30 and under means undercharged accumulators. BAD accumulators will maybe give you 2 pumps......and then no brakes!
Hi I removed the low pressure pipe today to allow access for removing the valve cover and lost a small amount of fluid,do I need to bleed the system due to an air lock?
The air will go up to the canister but to be safe undo pressure outlet pipe to turns on the cover-nut put a blanket over the pump so it does not squirt on the paintwork and crank the engine a few sec with coil deactivated or removed center cable on dist cover will do
Dont You think the glue you use instead of the thread alters your nice done adjustment by adding the glue? And glues the cover to the engine with the thread would have prevented I still think You are very good
You should start a Rolls - Royce mechanic training school So workshops can send the personal to you to be authorized Not every one can go to the factory for training I wonder wat it looks like to day? The factory area was a nice place with old buildings and a half phantom six and an old Dennis fire truck
Maybe you have not treated the car well letting your friends try to adjust the car for you as you can se on this movie it takes a skilled mechanic or it is no use
Should have sealed to the inside of the bolt holes too otherwise (as any "master mechanic" would already know) there could/will be oil weepage up around the bolt shank/heads/lock washers but hey, I guess it is only a Rolls...
Thank you for this great tutorial ..Just today bought a Siver Shadow ll ...Mike,West Sussex England
Owners listen to this man he is 99% correct
He might be factory trained that good he is

If you are rich, no problems

That is partly way you use the tread
Have you ever considered using Dot 5 brake fluid in it? I ask because Dot 5 will not absorb moisture from the air and dose not mix with water.Aussie.
I realice i have not done those inlet filers shame on me and it is not just one car
