Making Supports for Melons on a Trellis

- Melons are appearing on my trellises and I want them to stay there and not fall to the ground and bust open. They need supports to keep gravity from doing its thing. Here are several ideas for making Melon Supports.

I had never heard of Kajari melons until I watched Jess talk about them and your right, she turned the country on to these melons and the seeds are hard to find ! hahaha I haven't done macramé since high school art class in the 70's !!! 28 years ago I macramed a hanging bassinet for my newborn. Huge project, turned out beautifully. My baby was allergic to the material so only spent 2 nights in it but such a satisfying use of time and craftwork.

I too used to do Macrame in the 70's & 80's. I made plant pot hangers. I don't think I've worn a pair of heels in over 25 yrs.!! I working on canning pickles today, so have my work cut out for me! Have a great day.

I have been growing Kajari melons since 2012 they are amazing! The people in my weekly food coop requested them each season, they are prolific and delicious! A beautiful melon.I just made burlap bags for my melons. Also to help keep the critters from getting mine. I have used pillow cases but the burlap bags work really well and the critters can’t get them. Have a blessed week! Wendy❤️🐞🐝

I have a small stash of produce bags that are netting saved for various things. They do come in handy.
I did pretty much what you did back in the day. Back in the mid 70s when I was a new mom I found a book and taught myself how to make things. I made a belt and a couple of plant hangers and stopped. I get bored with production work involved in crafts. The only craft I can do over and over again is propogating plants...go figure right? lol I bought seeds for Kajari melon but the weather took them and I never got them replanted. There's alays next year.
We are so much alike. It's too bad a whole continent separates us. Hope next year will be better for growing melons!

This is a great idea! I have tried pantyhose for my watermelons in the past but didnt care for them, going to make these instead! Also I wanted to grow kijari melons but the seeds keep selling out 😔 I will eventually get me some seeds lol. Thank you for sharing this idea!
