Nature Artist Book Using Garden Elements

- This book was inspired by my love of nature. I have gathered bits and pieces of my garden and put them into a book to share with you. The pages are colored with inks I have made from plants in my garden. All the fabrics used have been dyed by me in various ways. You will see some familiar projects - my nature clusters, leaf stitching, leaves on tea bags, and alcohol ink on recycled packaging. I will put links to all those videos here below. This so resonates with me. My husband found our 5 acre old growth wooded lot 40+ years ago. He has managed it well. It is now a sanctuary for native plants and wildlife. And has an abundance of heart rocks to my delight. I am forever rescuing, firewood, sticks, twigs, leaves, moss, lichen, now I have a way to create art with it. Thank you once again Susan.

Absolutely beautiful. I’m a collector of nature items myself. I spend a lot of time out walking and hiking in nature as I have a Dog walking business. I’m always collecting trinkets to “Someday” make an art journal. I am just about finished with a travel journal. Now I have new inspiration. Thank you

Northern part of Minnesota, I wandered in the woods come spring
Until the snow started falling. I wondered hundreds of acres, my parents land, and both sets of Granparents land. I'm 75 and when I go back to family there I will wander in the woods, with grandkids, husband and other family. My next journal is made up of nature's gifts..such a piece of mine!!

Oh my, this book is so amazingly beautiful!! I am trying to find me, my creativity again. I lost my mom very suddenly to cancer 2 years ago and completely lost my creative mojo. I am able to create now, but only by copying what someone else has done. It is like I am stunted and completely devoid of creative ideas. This video brings me hope. I appreciate you sharing this story, this journey that has led you to find you, and this beautiful book that represents it all.

this is just so exquisite, a feast for the eyes. I loved the background paper you used it is the perfect backdrop. As you were flipping through I was trying to pick a favorite but that is impossible because they are all so unique. I am not much of a gardener but I would be pleased to have this on my table as an art piece to share with others. You have a real talent with the dyed fabrics and fibers mixed with foliage from the garden. Thanks so much for sharing, and encouraging everyone to find their own joy in what they create. I've been planning a nature journal to sketch in, so I find your explanation for this journal really inspiring - playing and finding out joy. Thanks for explaining your process. I feel like it's hard to get started at times, but I would love to capture the nature of my place/space without judgment (of myself and my abilities "arting").

Yes we all have those. I am in a bit of one atm too. I just keep spinning and knitting while I wait for the next wave. It will come. And with the seasons changing I am getting ready to plant seed for those greens and other stuff that do not do well in our hot humid summers. xoxo

Just ahhhhhmazing! Can you teach us how to preserve the leaves so they don’t crumble to pieces? I’ll go look to see if you’ve already done that in another video…
I just coated them with a thin layer of Matte medium.

So I happened upon you the other day when you were doing a live stream and I was admiring the piece you were creating, stitching a fluffy cord onto a white doily, with lots of textural "bits" ... Anyway, I was discussing with a friend today some of my current interests in art and was showing her this cluster of dry fallen leaves, moss, branches, etc. that I just found on the path on my walk in the forest, that had just called me ... And then lo and behold, tonight I discover this older video of yours quite serendipitously ... So I had to tell you this bit of a story of mine because your story of coming to nature art, finally, via gardening and writing totally is in sync with some of my current interests. And the book you created is just so beautiful ... thank you for being there and for coming into my world at the right time, Susan ✨️
