This power is sent to all four wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. There is speculation that a mild-hybrid system might be introduced with this update.
The A3 family, now in its fourth generation, shares its underpinnings with the Volkswagen Golf, both built on Volkswagen Group's updated front-wheel-drive MQB modular platform. This close relationship means the Golf will also receive updates alongside the A3. Excitingly, future generations of both models are expected to be offered exclusively with electric power.
