I'm a cyclist - I've raced on and off road, toured, worked in bike shops, I commute, I teach cycle skills to youngsters and guess what? I Also have a sense of humour! This is funny and is as good an explanation as I've heard!!

So true - we cyclists are nuts - but we love it - we choose the pain to live by ;) - dynamic, ride yourself or with others - ride out my door without starting my car - practical to cycle to work or store - slow rides to enjoy the scenery or fast to burn calories - great for thinking & removing the stress of a work day - low impact which can take one into their 90's - for developing countries a very cost-effective means of transport & survival - doesn't take up much space - easy to store -
low ongoing costs - facets like these & more is how much cycling has to offer

I am triathlete and this is just as good as the ironman clip. Absolutely love this, as I continuously get stick for the amount of weightloss on an annual basis getting ready for race season, and my 4 bikes cost about the same as my wifes mommy van too (7 seater).......I also get a similar reaction whenever I talk to people that I do triathlons....

CX bike can be used as a gravel bike ;)
Gotta have at least one hardcourt bike polo bike, BMX, hardtail mountain bike, full suspension MTB, mixte, track bike, randonner/touring bike, cruiser, gravity bike and a penny farthing for short trips to the shops.

I just want to save money on gas. Sure it might hurt at first, but once you get used to it it's a good way to do some light grocery shopping. Faster than walking, and WAY cheaper than driving every time you need to pick up something.

I completed my first century ride at 16 with a heavy steel road bike; crank was not the smoothest. An upgrade would be cool. However I believe its not all about being skinny but rather both having strong quads yet not excessive musculature and eating properly. I cycle because the vast majority of people do not, Its a form of staying fit for other sports such as soccer, a life style and a form of transportation.
