We need to fish skyway this spring. Just fished this last week with Bushi, had a blast. If you and Bushi have time this spring lets hit skyway sometime.
I drive all the way from Orlando to the skyway and never catch anything I like the spot but I'm going to call it quits till I get a real fish catching strategy for the skyway

Nice work. One tiny suggestion; as per your hooking demonstration, when you put the hook through you had a scale stuck on the end of the hook after it came out the other side. They work a lot better with no scales on the tip. Keep those videos coming.

Hope to see some more videos in the near future but also understand if you don’t because there’s a ton of clean up down there. I might find myself down there later this week and next week helping with clean up down in Venice and Fort Myers.

thanks for checking in on me. Yes I'm doing fine and my kids are too. I don't want to ever have to listen to that kind a relentless wind ever again. we just had damage to trees and fences. i'm currently without power, but the temperature was cool today around 70°.

People don't realize how much a chum bag would help too lmao. Chum bag and the right set up is what catches fish at the skyway. I've seen many locals just get tired of that pier. It's really overfished tbh. Not a great fishery like it once was. I remember people used to catch 24" gags daily from the pier. You'll never catch me fishing there again tho. The admission fee alone makes me turn away. There a spot right around the corner where you can catch bigger and more fish.

JC. I have a question. I just went fishing today, Sept. 25. Lots of fishermen and kayaks out there today but I asked out and no one caught a fish included myself. I wonder if tropical storm would bring fish in or cause fish to evacuate towards deeper water? Thanks!
That's a very general question. My rule is find the bait find the fish. Several years ago we had terrible winds from a near by hurricane Michael. The wind caused a large school of mullet to get pushed into an area around a pier where I was fishing. The Snook were going ballistic on that school. Dolphins have been horrible and seem to get worse. Stole 2 of my gags on Monday and countless baits. Didn't get my gag today but stole baits and scared fish into there homes. They need a hunting season on them
@@landinfish7600 This rod is set up for Snook fishing around bridges with jigs or big swimbaits. 50 lb braid isn't over kill. It's actually perfect for fishing for big Snook.

Next time cut the Spanish mackerel in rounds and use it for bait works better than the live bait.

Weights always depend on the amount of current. I was catching them without weights and then when the current picked up I added a small crimp weight.

Dude the dolphins tried to get my bait fish that I had just hooked while they were still on my Danilo rig
They just changed the law at the skyway bridge. You can only use one pole for fishing at a time.

I caught about 20 fish and killed it with dolphins around - gags are great but not worth wasting to dolphins

Set up for fishing near structure. That's a large bait caster, usually used for catching giant musky.
