So that if the switch is on, the current takes the easier path through the switch and one bulb will not get the current. But i cant understand how if the switch is off, only one bulb glows. If switch is off, both the bulb would be in series connection and current should be passing through both the switches ryt?
Bed switch in the bad position , why you didn't put it near the night lamp so we understand his function , I think the circuit will function only with incandescent bulb . If the bad switch is closed the night bulb will be bypassed and the 100w will glow normally and when the bad switch is open we get the tow bulbs in series the night lamp will glow but it has a high resistance so a small current will pass throw the 100w lamp and it will stay off .
Followed ur wiring instructions however when i switched on the power both led tube light started to flicker and only 1 tube light works when i use the switch.. Do i have to get a special switch.. Please assist.

May you please confirm if this will work for two AC using MCB instead of switch, there are two AC and one one of them should be running at a time

LED will not work. Try it with a 100w bulb and a night lamp.
