    Very good lens and your photography. I think your style, the compositions, making use of the surroundings and the expression and body language of your subjects really makes a difference.

    A good trick for using manual focus is to change it to monochrome in camera. The focus peaking is much easier to see

    Beautiful photos! I suppose there is not much difference between the two lenses based on this video review. Composition, lighting, and of course talent in photography do matter a lot more.

    Meike seems to have a bit more chromatic aberration and has a slight pinkish tint, whereas 7Artisans has better CA and a bit yellowish tint in comparison.

    Both look really similar in real world tests, obviously if you care about charts and stuff the Meike is better lens, sharper etc but the 7artisans is surprisingly well controlled distortions, its perfect to the point you wont notice apart from corner vigneting at high aperture stop.

    I own the 7Artisans lens. The aperture never moves for me because the key is not being heavy handed on the focus ring near the front of the lens. There is plenty of space on the focus ring in the middle and near the body to not affect the aperture. I assure you this only happens because of the user, not the lens. Furthermore, it is easily avoidable.
    Both are great lenses, I love the 7Artisans.

    After reading like 200 comments and a few video, only 1 person noticed the same thing as I did with the one I bought. I was like: "Are all these reviewers or photographer lying, paid or what?". At F1.05 I DO NOT get twice the amount of light of F1.4 which I should according to the F-Stop chart! For example I looked up close to a spotlight on my ceiling with a fixed ISO then I've set the Aperture on the lens at F16, F8, F5.6, F4, F2.8, F2.0, F1.4... which ALL gave me 2x the amount of light so 1 extra stop as it should... but then when I went from F1.4 to F1.05 I got far less than a stop, at best F1.2 I would say.
    For example I'd go from 1/200 to 1/250 when it should had been 1/400 if I would have gained 1 extra stop. Plus it's really soft, major vigneting and flare wide open, and the lights in the bokeh are extremly ugly at F1.05 they look like lemons or football shape even though it has 13 blades aperture but then at F1.4 everything gets nearly perfect. If I have to use this lens at F1.4 or higher otherwise it's crap or a lie from 7Artisans, then I'd rather just buy an actual real F1.4 lens with AF! (-_-) Cheap chinese garbage.

      Ken Rockwell brought this up as well. That said, i own the 7artisans and i like it very much. If youre looking for an analytical 50mm then the 7artisans isnt for you. It IS, however, a very fun lens that renders excellent photos with a "vintage" vibe (as much as i hate that term). It flares but i don't have as much issue with if as you do. I wonder if you have an early production version without the added coatings i had read about somewhere. I also disagree about the bokeh lights. I think they look pretty nice. They will definitely distort at the edges of the frame but thats perfectly acceptable for a relatively inexpensive prime. That said, should 7artisans be more transparent about how they think this is 1.05? Yes, absolutely. But i still really like this lens. I dont think i would pay full price for it, but i got mine on the used market for what I think is a great deal.

      That's what it's called, exactly. How you can not know the expression if you attempt to review a camera lens, especially Chinese manual ones is beyond me. A good approach is to first gain some knowledge, including technical expressions, do some research and only then approach the manufacturers and shoot a video. But hey, I guess it's more like shoot first, learn second, kinda approach. Gotta get the content out, stat!

    0:54 Here we take the lens off the body with the sensor facing up, and then hold the sensor compartment open for a good ole' half minute, shaking it to maximize the dust gathering capacity. Real pro photographer behavior right there. Watch & learn, kids!

    • @MagicWeddingPhotographer
      @MagicWeddingPhotographer  Рік тому +1

      Haha wow didn’t know that the way I change lenses disqualifies me as a pro photographer 😂🙈 I have no problem cleaning the sensor when needed - that process is super easy.

    • @piotrch0
      @piotrch0 Рік тому

      It surely doesn't send the right message to newbies, does it? Plus, cleaning a sensor, safe from a dust blower, can't be done out in an outdoor shoot location, now can it? So once you expose it like that your quality at any higher f-stop is compromised until you get back to a room or a car, with a table, and granted you have sensor cleaning swabs and liquid. I'd be surprised if you do carry them in your equipment bag. No-one likes cleaning their sensor, and surely you know that quite often even a wet clean doesn't get all the dust out. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if you actually had one of the newest camera bodies. Now if you did have one, they allow for auto close shutter on power off. If you still didn't bother to activate it and turn the body off before taking the lens off - now, that takes talent.
      I haven't met a pro in the field that parades with their sensor exposed like that. You know who does, tho? Photography influencers. That's the only species I observed that does that. My main problem is that behavior is fake. It's like those stitch ups on Tik tok where people do some fake shit that no-one does in real-life, just for camera. Same here - no-one in their right mind taks their lens off and shake their camera body like a tambourine for a half minute, while having a monologue, do they? It's nuts.
      Also, I didn't call you an amateur. Judging by the work, I'd venture to say - quite the contrary. I critiqued your behavior. Every person has good and bad behaviors. A shining example here, a slip-up there. Surely, you wouldn't call this behavior (not your person) - sensible or popular among fellow pros in the field, especially on a dry day, outdoors., in the city with high particulate pollution nonetheless, now would you?
      Let's separate actions and individual worth, shall we? A bad action doesn't make you a bad professional, especially a single one. In this video you do explain some things, positioning yourself in a teacher capacity, to some extent, at least. My goal was to point out to all those who're just beginning - kids, don't do that - it's silly, you'll get you sensor dirty as fuck, real fast, you can't wet clean it in the field, cleaning takes resources (swabs / gel) and time, best avoid dust as much as you can.
      I'm certain you'll agree that's the right message to send, eh?

    If you have any of the latest high end cameras like the Sony a7IV I would advise not to even think about putting one of these cheap dust magnet lenses on a high end camera. Checkout the Sony Zeiss 55 1.8 even though it’s old it’s still an amazing lens or if you can afford it, go with the Sony 50 1.2 GM for the best of the best.

      Why would it attract dust 10x more than other type of lens?! I've got a (Sony A7IV) and just bought that lens but I'll prolly return it as it's very disappointing. I'll copy/paste you my comment from elsewhere.

      People put mist filters on high end glass and directors like Snyder also use vintage glass for entire movies sometimes (shot one at F0.95 the entire movie). There is no elite way to do art across the board. The beauty of an A74 is that you can go high end when you want, and you can go dreamy when you want. A Zeiss F1.8 will not get you the same artistic vision as these lenses whatsoever. Different situations call for different looks.

      Lmao. Best comment ever. There's plenty of 50's I'd take over the gm.... Unless the overpriced sterile look is what you are going for. As for the 55 it is a dust magnet and has more aberration than many cheap Chinese lenses and vintage glass. I'd still take the 55 over the gm...

    Any time u put tape on a lens out of the box u are damaging it value immediately. U are implying to the consumer it does work as is. Don't buy it. Very biased if the lens is not flawed in that way.
