Perfect review. I’d love to see a back to back comparison with the sexier looking Voigtlander 50mm f1.2, if anything this lens looks sharper wide open.
Thank you Pav, Meike sent me that lens for review, I have a photography youtube channel in spanish and your video has been very helpful, I agree with everything you said :D
Thank you for the review Pav, but now I am confused. It seems all these budget 50mm manual lens (Meike, 7Artisan, TTArtisan) are pretty good, so which one should I get? 😂
Meike makes some great lenses. Definitely up there with 7artisans as far as quality. But definitely a good brand to look into. They have the budget cine market on lock.
Hi there. I just seen a few videos from you and they are very fun to watch, helpful and interesting. Thanks for that. Hope you can help me. Which one you think is better for documentary/music video filming (no photo) This one or the 7 artisan 50mm 1.05 that you reviewed also????I have a Lumix S5. Thanks in advance for answer and keep up the good work ;) ciao
I just purchased a copy today based on your review. I do have their cine lenses for MFT (I use a Bmpcc 4k and a Gh5 for video) and they are really really good. Have a look on their cine lenses line.
Nice video, I always think it is funny that sharpness at 1.2 is really that important to the folks who use a 1.2 @ 1.2. You call out that it will not be as sharp as Canon etc. My canon 50mm 1.2 EF lens is a beautiful lens wide open, but tack sharp it is not and it still costs $1k used. To be honest a 50 year old Takumar 50mm 1.4 is sharper than the canon and it cost me $3 ( and bonus it is radioactive 😜) Now I am sure the RF version is much sharper but ultra sharpness wide open is not why you buy a lens like this.
Pav « SZ » that's funny cuz one of my fav' camera is a Lumix « SZ-1 » haha btw thanks for this new video i like to discover and to watch, and the footage at the end is still so funny haha ;) what have you lost like that ?? so, about this lens, i didn't know Meike (Mickey !??) was a so great brand as well, i surfing on amazon much time and saw it several times, it's amazing all what you can make with this lens, waw !! :D to resume, thanks a lot Pav for all, you explain that simple and it's good to listen and to learn =)
Wait - is this thing inner focusing? so i can put my heavy matte box and filters up front for video work? for 370€? with very usable image quality? shut up and take my money meike!
@@PavSZ i will try it out. apart from (much more expensive) dedicated cine lenses there are almost no other fast manual 50mm-ish primes out there that allow this. this seams to be a nice budget video lens.
@@PavSZ the 35 and 50 do not seem to be available for canon RF (as of now). i bought the meike 50 1.2 and i am very happy with it.mounting the mattebox also was no problem. i might get the 85 7artisan though.
Congratulations on the work! greetings from Brazil!

I'd love to compare them side by side

Awesome, thank you!
if I could speak Spanish I'd watch your videos regularly - looks like you are producing awesome content!

Yes! I'm a new fan of their lenses for sure ... no, sorry. I'm a fan of this lens for sure 😉
@@PavSZ Pav, this lens or TTArtisan M 50mm F0.95 for video? Which one you will chose?
Now with running order 🔥🔥🔥 very cool
Would you recommend this lens or the canon 50mm 1.8 lens?
Canon

7Artisans is a better lens overall but Meike is better size for S5 rig. All my lens/cameras b-roll on my channel is filmed with 7Artisans 50mm
Tnx for answer ;)

Great to hear!
I'm waiting for the 50mm cine right now - stock shortage 😉
@@PavSZ Have a look on the test I just published: ua-cam.com/video/fsjsoIPedS8/v-deo.html
Have you also tried TTArtisan 50mm f1.2? Thats pitty since many say its the best 50mm out of "friendly priced flock" . I hoped for this comparison
Not yet but I'm planning to

lovely lens, lovely video as always
I have the 50 0.95 . Wonder how it will compare if I set it at 1.2
it will be probably very similar
Great video! Best one of this lens!
Thank you!!!
hola, full frame o apsc?
full frame
I have this lens and love it
me too 😉
Once Meike made an AF lens, I would jump and buy it. Hope they made in future for Sony.
Wow,looks good for the price.
It is!
This lens not bad 👍I’m interested
It's better than most people think
This looks quite sharp at f1.2.
it is OK, not amazing but OK
E compatibile con Nikon d3500 ?
No
top video
thanks!
50mm ultrawide? I think not, ultra fast maybe
I never said that it is an ultra wide lens - ultra wide aperture at f1.2
Ultra fast, not ultra wide you mean
yes
Wait - is this thing inner focusing? so i can put my heavy matte box and filters up front for video work? for 370€? with very usable image quality? shut up and take my money meike!
yes - theoretically speaking
