Finally the street triple gets an option for cruise control. It’s such a useful option to have when on those long highway rides.
You wouldnt need it with the smaller tank ;)
@@Doubledeepfried Yep. They need to rebrand it as the "Track Triple". It's really not a Street Triple anymore. The RS is crap and the R was infinitely better until they neutered it.

Dyno chart seems maxed out, looks to me that a far-future update will have to raise the rev limiter. Glad to hear the TC/LC (lift control) is updated to Speed Triple levels -- '18 765 was bad about hard fuel cut. MT09/D890/Z900 ... 765 Moto2 is same price as Monster SP should have included that, as MSP also comes with launch control, steering damper, individual control settings, and a better screen BY FAR, it's a few whp off but what a fun machine.

Had a test ride of this bike today, the RS. very nice bike. Id definitely go for the RS, worth the extra over the R. Only issue is there's a wait till September for the yellow
I have a 2020 765R model and I’d love Cruise control being in Australia. Often I have to do 20+ kms of constant revs on highways and the numb hands are a pain. A set throttle and lighter touch on highway cruising would be most welcome

months back. Hoping to upgrade to a street in a bit. They look better and better. But were a bit intimidating to start on with the traffic around here 😂

@@speedtriprr537 It is! Very easy to ride, simple to use, and neutral controls. Can pick up and run much better than my old 500 in China haha just doesn’t have the kick of the bigger engines (or the normal Daytona engine)…too bad one can’t engine swap 😂

I don’t reckon there anywhere near the bench mark for a road naked.. Road riding isn’t about revving a bike to 12000 rpm. It’s more about low down torque and power. However, I’d say the street triple is about the best naked bike on track. Then, there are better track bikes.
What do you reckon is the benchmark for a road naked? I can't decide between this and the 2024 mt09

@@zzzap4778 As a beginner, you can take any bike on a track and have a good time. The MT09 could embarrass a few sports bike riders in the right hands. If you only going to do track days occasionally, it’s a great bike.

Great review and the Street looks to be a weapon. I'd look at this as a potential replacement for my 16 Speed S
Only worry that Triumph have learned lessons from the launch of the Speed 1200 and many teething problems that had.
Forums were awash with them but I have noticed fewer posts about it recently so hopefully they've been addressed.
Otherwise wait a year for updates and fixes to be carried out.
What issues did you have with your speed?

A great review and a well presented and comprehensive introduction to the new Street triple range. Not sure I’d trust a gearbox held together with elastic bands though. (time stamp 2:06).

It’s absolutely beautiful. Love the bike and would spec it with everything offered. Two years ago I chose the 890R.. don’t think I would’ve made the same decision had this 2023 model been available.
Why the 890 is more street Usable bike with more torque down low better gas mileage and light weight too ? The triumph seems to be more top end PowerBand track bike, plus electronic wise it's the same

@@thejailbrokenbiker usable torque is very subjective. It's what every reviewer says when one bike has lower torque than the other. Yes, the RS is more revvy and focused on the track but it does not heat up as fast as the ktms. KTMs enginec always blow hot air on my legs very fast when riding in the city , while the RS stays cool towards my legs comparably.
300 bux for cruise control is totally worth it. I paid 200 for a atlas throttle lock that I love btw but nothing beats oem cruise. Smart move Triumph. My next bike for sure, this or the speed twin.
$300 for the module, budget another $400 to install from the dealer. And for the US just figure $1000 with tax.
I've got a speed twin but owned a striple. The twin is the better daily, whereas the triple is the fun weekend bike. A little aggressive on the street (always wanna go fast), whereas the twin has a great rain mode to cruise and wait behind traffic.
Pegs are actually pretty good on my speed twin. You can ride down to the edge of the tire without scraping anything! Quite nimble too!
For me and those who've had the street triple. Up and down shifting is heaven. Cruise control is a very welcome addition that we have been waiting for. Other accesory that is necessary for me are the heated grips, but I have no need for the Bluetooth stuff, because a) thev've been known to not work at times and gimmicky. b) all of have cardo/sena systems that take care of calls and maps navigation through voice. and quadlocks are used by majority now, so we can just look at our phones.
Maybe you could do a very short vid on press bikes. What happens to them after. Are they pre production? Do they go on tour for you guys locally after the launch, etc. cheers 👍

Need a900 street triple with more torque low down .next year maybe
been looking at these for a few years now, but having not owned this type of bike for some 15 years or so, I wonder if I have grown out of the speed and more into the comfort. I think a test ride will have to be booked up!
I had a 2020 street triple rs and ended up selling it and am more happy with my gsxr 750. What they dont tell you is the wind is brutal not having a faring, The bike feels very light and easy to ride but I was miserable on long rides. Wasnt much more comfortable then my gsxr if at all
I guess it needs additional 100cc to compete. I would say there is a reason why the other middleweight road bikes have similar power specs

Great initial review - thanks. Like others I'm very interested in the real life view for road riding which the vast majority will be used for. Hopefully that review will make clear what benchmark Triumph meant because I suspect though the RS may lead on the track it may be too focused with firm suspension and revvy nature for the road and if that's the case the R model has a lot more competition on the road.
My 2011 675 STR is great and I'd love to replace it with one of these, but need convincing the RS is not just a revvy supersport and that the R is 'enough' in relation to what else is out there for 100% road use.

I own the 22 RS and it's not super track focused. With the fully adjustable suspension you can dial in the comfort setting with spring and dampening rate and it's good for streets (as good as SS and street fighter nakeds can be - if you want couch comfy then get a neo-classic, cruiser or adventure bike). The engine has enough low end for street cruising and anyone who says otherwise is probably lying (the STRS can reach 60ks - the legal limit in most countries and most city streets - in 3rd gear at about 4000rpm), in fact you'll probably be worrying about speeding and the cops rather than worrying about revving the engine, this isn't a 4 cyclinder 250cc bike you are dealing with it's got 130horses on a 190kg frame, the power to weight ratio is honestly speaking, already ridiculously high.

I agree if I wanted to very comfy I should be looking elsewhere but my experience of the very first 765 RS put me off as it was very SS like. I'll be giving the new one a test ride when it's available for a demo 👍
@@MrEunuch I actually traded in my SS bike (a Honda CBR) for the STRS because I find the STRS more comfortable in the riding position due to the higher bar handle vs clip ons. The suspension is stiff out of the factory but once I dialed in the comfort setting as listed in the manual I find quite nice without sacrificing the handling much, with the plush cushion seat doing a good job of making the ride comfy especially compared to the paper thin seats of SS bikes. I used to get tired riding my Honda in about an hour and have to take short breaks by then but I have no problems riding the STRS on streets and motorways for 2 hours straight because I can adjust my posture accordingly. The 22 STRS is a wonderful "does it all" bike - you can ride it very hard and sporty but also very leisurely, if comparing it to cars I would say the STRS would be like a Porsche 911 which are known as "the daily super sports cars" unlike the hardcore Ferrari/Lambos. The issue I think with the 23 model is they actually made the seat higher so the riding position is probably more aggressive (but still not full on lean in attack mode aggressive, unless you buy the Moto2 Edition which has clip on handles), but that would also depend on your body size and shape etc.

Feels like we have similar form in a parallel universe as my 2-wheeled background has a part coming up thru a CBR600RR that I loved over 2 good years and after going to an '08 Blade (this was 10 years ago) speed was too sanitized, I started collecting points and simply didn't have as much fun. From there I went to a '11 STR bought new that I still own. Usability and fun factor is still my sweet spot. I've taken the STR around Europe for a week at a time where it held it's head high around other sporty bikes and if the '23 continues to offer the same type of thrills without taking any backward steps it deserves a much closer look. I like the 911 analogy - these days that's exactly the type of ride I'm looking for 😎. Ride safe and if I pull the trigger I'll let you know 👍
@@MrEunuch Yeah definitely sounding like we had similar motivations in choosing our bikes. The Honda CBRs are very nice SS with a long legacy but just too hardcore for my needs as I got into two wheels purely for leisure as bikes makes you to be "in the moment" which allows me to unwind from work so I'm looking to do longer exploring trips where I'd get out of the city and into small country towns to relax and maybe stay a night or two, and I plan my trips to have some fun twisty mountains roads while on the way. So something which I could lean in and carve up the roads when I need it to be, but can also let me sit upright and ride it slow to enjoy the scene when I want to relax, plus plenty of go to overtake anything on the motorways quickly and safely. When I test rode the 22 STRS I knew it would satisfy all my needs. You should definitely go to the dealers and test ride one if you can I think you won't be disappointed.

You are ao right 😂👍🏻... I own the Tuono 660 Factory, which is such a fun to ride ❤ and did a test ride on the new Street Triple R and RS yesterday. The RS would be a competitor for my 660 Factory, but unfortunately the quickshifter on the testbike did not really work well 🙈. Other than that, it is a very nice bike and a nice ride 👍🏻, but I'm not sure, if it is worth 3.000€ more than my Tuono 660 Factory. I feel like the 30 horses more are not really necessary on the road (I am not a track rider). Here in Germany you get the Tuono 660 Factory for 10.250€ and the Street Triple RS for 13.000€ (both new).
Moto 2 limited edition...weird. you are the first youtuber I see talking about it...and I would expect it to be like a yellow street triple RR... it has everything except the fairing.
About the clocks of the R... they are the same as the trident. GOOOD choice!

I'm always wondering, is that smoke coming from the exhaust, oil being burned? I've seen that in many street triple RS.
I like this machine, my Sprint ST with the beautiful 1050 engine is putting out the same amount of power as this bike....lighter....I would love one !!!

Triumph does a great job making the exhausts sound good despite all the regulations and all the bullshit.
its still very lightly sprung by the looks of it unfortunatly , plastic tank is a no from me , also the welded systym also downside, will test ride one and maybe in a few years might upgrade my 2018 rs

They make very pretty bikes. I have an old Speed Triple.But here in Australia wouldn't buy one. The dealers are thin on the ground. All parts come through Melbourne. Which if you don't live near Melbourne is a pain. And most non Triumph work shops won't touch them with a ten foot pole.

No - they never have press bikes for the limited editions. Plus they’re sold out anyway so makes sense for triumph to focus the event on the bikes they can sell
Great review again Bob. I’ve got a 675R 2016 Street, which is a fab bike. 2 of my mates have put deposits on the 2023 R/S in yellow and red.
I can’t believe they left the stupid unusable tachometer options. That’s the reason I sold my 2020 RS, I want another one but I don’t understand why they can’t update the software and give us the same option that the Daytona moto2 has, with a sweeping gauge style tach.
Same thoughts on the tach. All comments I’ve read on the butterfly tach are negative. I haven’t heard anyone say how much they like it. So why did Triumph stick with such an unusable design? I hope I can be remedied by a firmware update.
@@VincentTL This is called Survivorship bias - just because you only read complaints about the tachometer it doesn't mean the negative opinions are actually representative of the majority's experience as there might be a far bigger portion of users whom are satisfied with it and don't talk about it. So say if Triumph sold 10000 STRS, and you read 100 very vocal complaints, that means it's only a 1% dissatisfaction rate being misrepresented as a majority on the net. Then you don't change it without knowing what the other 99% actually thinks. Triumph might have done their own internal close group study and found that opinion of the users are actually the opposite of what is said on the net.
@@nanaholic01 agreed, I kinda like it. But yes it's not perfect. RPM is basically unreadable, one for the low contrasting colors, it would be better if it is more fluo colored or something like that, it's kinda dull, so I usually keep the numbered widget to show RPM. But otherwise it's kinda fine. Design wise I like it more than what was on previous model. I have also changed from Trident to STRS and altough much simpler I liked Trident's tacho for it's readability in direct sunlight. I think they should invest more in the readability. The design is otherwise quite ok.

Btw I'm pretty sure that other 99% would rather an exhaust that allows the owner to throw on a slip-on to trumpet out the music and not this new single piece item. @@davidebbs2797 It's not bait - rather it should be something everyone should keep in their mind when reading "reviews" on the internet because you might fall into a small echo chamber but think that's the majority opinion. Twitter currently is suffering from that exact problem right now as Elon Musk is trying to "correct" the platform for right wing conservatives which were super vocal on the platform and ends up driving the platform into the drain - so that should tell you a lot about Survivorship bias.
I'm a '22 STRS owner myself, and tbh while the tacho in most modes aren't the best I also find I rarely actually need to read the tacho digits either. After just owning it for a bit the speed and gear plus the engine note pretty much tells me what ballpark rev range it's in, which would be the same with an analogue gauge of old anyway. The colour bar is good enough for a rough estimation and after that my eyes are on the road again. It's good enough and serviceable. Could it be improved? Yeah I suppose. But is it SO BAD that I must have it changed? Nah not at all.
Thinking of selling my GSXS 750 and KTM 450 Supermoto for a more premium bike, this looks pretty promising, especially with the cruise control option

@@abymathew295 last thing I need is a POS to break down on me. My superduke was broke non stop and my wife’s Husqvarna 401 is such garbage. Throttle will not work and bike needs restarted, dash will turn on blank and need restarted, front fork seals last 400 miles on a new bike and the battery is being over bolted and they can’t figure out why so had to change batteries twice last year.
Cruise control is about the only feature I'd want as an extra

Nah, I use heated gloves. A much better option in my experience.
At this price point you have available the inline four engine based on the all mighty GSXR-1000 K5 with 150 ponnies and enough torque to chew anything who cross his path. I can't imagine someone chosing the RS over the GSX-S1000.

In terms of mechanical design and finish, i can agree.. but reliability and after sales support (depending on country) is still slightly behind..
It's nice but I'm keeping my 2021 model :). Some "improvements" are not for my liking, I don't like the front mask, plastic tank cover with lower tank capacity (even with 17 litres) I'm too often at gas station already :D. What I like is the more power and IMU, but I still don't get it why Triumph don't allow separate setup for wheelie control and traction control. It is stupid that with the technology you can't set wheelie control loose and traction control strict. Which would ultimately be safer on road when you occasionally want to go nuts :D. You still with IMU have to completely turn traction off to really do some wheelies. Sad. Otherwise nice upgrade, Stylema callipers are sweet. Wish there is option to have Ohlins front as well on RS with wide handlebars.
Having ridden the last generation Moto 2, and the KTM 890 Duke, just 2 weeks apart, I can't get behind the Triumph. A decent enough track bike, but on the street, the lack of bottom end compared to KTM, that it's just not as fun as the Duke. Most of your comparisons are against the previous generation Street Triple. While you show and tell us the improvements over the older bike, it's still not up to the competition IMHO. I would like to see the Triumph compared to the MV triples... where, despite being so much smaller than Triumph, they have a full line up of 800 Triples on offer. This could be the last gasp for the Street triple.
The weight of both the 2023 R and RS are actually down compared to the 2020 to 2022 model as MCN and Bike magazine weighed both at 189 and 190kg wet respectively.
@Paul B They weigh the bikes with 2/3rds full tank so difference would be minimal plus as someone who's on his third 765 RS I can guarantee Triumphs claim of a 17 litre capacity on the up to 2022 models is nonsense, I always wondered why I got no more than 15 litres into the tank even 30 miles after the fuel light came on so a friend who's also got an RS and I drained our tanks and the recorded refill was precisely 15.45 litres for both bikes. so it'll be interesting to see if Triumphs accurate with 15 litres on the new bike.
What about the quality of the bike ? I know it’s manufactured in Thailand.

They say triumph listen to their customers. Not so sure, where the TFT is concerned. Or rather the rev counter. Too complicated to see at a glance. Other than that, a great looking bike. Cheers for the video.👍🏻

It’s a no from me. Reduced range and increase in seat height isn’t great on normal. Fine for track but I doubt the normal consumer is going to throw this around a track. It’s a bit of a meh update
As this bike is high-revving like, they should've kept the Daytona as the regular production model, and it's gonna compete best with only RS 660 & R7 on its segment

Heated grips and cruise control - once you've had them you will always want them.
If all bikes had cruise control, bluetooth connectivity, I'd have thought it wouldn't add much to the cost. It's extra mucking around by the dealer to fit. The bike has to be pulled apart again and thus a lot more expensive than just fitting it at the factory on a standard build.
As much as I'm a Triumph fan boy. I guess this is something that annoys me. Most japanese bikes in the same class, they'd get things like those as standard.
BMW are also very guilty of "options price inflation" on their bikes (and cars !).
Yeah, I guess both Triumph and BMW know their markets, but still. Please don't be tight with minor bits of electronics !
Things like luggage and the mounts, fully active suspension, having those optional seems fair enough, but not some small bits of electronics, that's just "tight" !
That silver srew at the back of the sreen sticks out like a sore thumb (the small fly-screen will solve that)

Its a great all around bike, and very good on the track. But I think the 890 duke r is way more fun and hooligan. This bike lacks huge amounts of power down low in the revs, excellent when revving it on the track tho. But I just think must people will enjoy the torque and fun factor of a 890 duke r, monster 950 or mt09 😊
i owned a duke 890r and will ride the first time the rs in a couple days.. i sold my 890r because the 890r had some big problems with really badly worn lobes of the camshafts also the 790 Dukes. There are more reasons why i sold the bike but i will give you some informations about how different both bikes are in a few days.. But i know what you mean when you say the 890r is more hooligan .. Low and midrange torque are absolutely insain from the 890r..

Have you ridden the new one with the gearbox and mapping changes? This STRS isn't the same as previous years. I'm curious to see videos of the old vs new in real-world performance.

Yes. The direct competitors are the Z900 and MT09.
No doubt the street triple rs has evolved into one of the best naked in the class. But to claim it as the benchmark in the class is a little bit far fetched but I'd forgive them as the MV agusta brutale 800 rr is somewhat too exotic it flies under the radar but it's a fact, the Brutale rr is still the bike to beat in this class.
Still can’t come around to liking those headlights. Bumblebees?
Top of the power league but giving away cc’s to all its competitors and so inevitably well down on torque. Lowering the bottom gear ratios shows that Triumph know the bike is gutless. No issue of course if you want to thrash it everywhere but as the old saying goes there is no substitute for cubic inches.

What does this bike offer over an MT-09?
Better suspension, better looks, more track-able geometry, lighter, better build quality etc. The mt-09 has a more adventure bike style seating position, great engine but the rest is a "meh" for me.
@tubejorrit seems like for the money an MT-09 is the far better buy. Better reliability, more power, more fun powerband, comfier ergos, good suspension with the SP model. Guess I'm just looking for somebody to convince me to buy one of these over an MT-09.
@@DB-sd3cw I had a Street Triple R (the 675 model) and sold it for a first gen mt-09. The engine was great, the rest wasn't and I could not ride the corners as hard as I did on the Triumph, yes it has less power but the triumph sounds much better and feels more lively. A year later I sold the MT-09 and now I have the Street Triple 765 RS again and the only reason to get rid of it the the new 2023 model (in yellow).
@tubejorrit I had a 2nd gen MT-09 but from what I hear the 3rd gen is drastically improved in the handling department, just curious how close it matches the street triple now
@@DB-sd3cw I have ridden the gen 3 mt 09 and did ride all the other bikes in it's class except the street tripple. I also rode a mt 09 gen 2 last week. The handling has become really good and everything else feels alot more polished now. I ordered the mt09 sp model and it's comin this month. To be fair the only reason why I chose this bike over the rest is simply because of the engine.... and price. You get basically everything you need at a really good price thats hard to beat. I am sure the triumph would be a better bike on the track but I'm not so sure on the street. It does look better though but it's just too pricey.

most fun bike the mt 09 because of it's engine. ( Everything built around it does feel in some places cheap and the gen 2 looked alot better!)

In India much cheaper bikes get Bluetooth connectivity and cruise control....
And so they should. Not everybody wants or can afford to buy a big bike. But everybody ends up on the freeway or wants phone connectivity sometimes. Not a hugely expensive thing for the manufacturers to do.
@@xpantz I own 3 Triumphs with all the bells and whistles including Triumph connectivity. I don't need it because when I am riding I DON'T want to be connected! If you need this, stay home and watch TV it's safer for us REAL riders! I can't talk and ride at 100+mph and have fun and don't give a shit about phone calls.

I’m more of a retro fan and like my Streetmaster. I don’t understand what is the fascination with the insect look. I think it’s positively hideous and many of these bikes would look so much better with a round nacelle for the headlights.
Why would they make the tank smaller? Triumph already has small tanks on many of their bikes. Sounds like it performs well, but I stilll can’t love that face. Keeping my Z900.
I agree that the Triumph street triple is a good bike, but so much than an Mt09 that it worth the difference in the cost.
