Feels like OnePlus is back on track with the launch of OnePlus 12 series and OnePlus Open. Things are looking good for them! 💯

i like the 10pro, and 11 wasn't bad, but this new series 12 and 12r seems like so much more bang for your buck.

Nah.. I'm okay if it is just 2 lenses..main wide camera and telephoto..keep it simple..making extra room for probably even better cooling of perhaps..other hardware like memory card slot..

Got the full 12 myself. But it was tough to make the decision not to get the 12R for that price. Camera isn't a huge deal to me. That camera (12R) is on par or better than my Note9. Which is all i need. Love the 12 though. It's camera is excellent.

2:39 Just a heads up oneplus came out and said the UFS 4.0 spec was an error on their website both versions come with 3.1.....thanks for the video always love your phone reviews!
I truly understand and appreciate what 1 + has done this year. They've done away with terms such as Pro, Plus and Ultra and they're moving forward with a much simpler classification system. Moving forward, the numbered models will be the flagship and the R versions will be the scale down regular variance. Of course, you could tell they were taking steps towards this by calling last year's flagship the 11. Although, for whatever reason they didn't release the 11R globally. At least, the R variance are here now.

Try to include a new test. 2x on default mode(12mp) vs 2x in high-resolution mode. Generally budget phones dont crop from high res images in default mode.

OMFG THEY'RE BRINGING BACK IR BLASTERS!!! It might be upgrade time. Turning the TV's off at bars was my favorite past time when I had my old LG phone.
OnePlus confirmed that the 256 isn't ufs 4.0 and as a result of their advertising that it was they are offering returns.
Excellent phone all around, just hope they skipped the 2 MP camera....lessens the phone's value a bit. Also an IP67 would have been nice.

I bought mine for the Aqua Touch. I use hiking apps and live in a wet environment.

On bottom, its got a port to add your own micro SD to add storage right? You just push the hole with a paper clip and it pops open for an SD and SIM card tray?

Camera?
No mention of the aqua touch feature? That is the main reason for me to get this phone since I mount my phone to my motorcycle and sometimes ride when it's raining.
I've seen that cute snail statue like in all videos it's become a core memory for me now😅.

I'm considering upgrading from oneplus 10T and this has basically the same specs,except higher battery than my 10T (which was criminally underrated is actually a great phone except for the fact that got ran over by a car and the screen is cracked but it still works fine)..biggest difference between the 12R in the 12 that I see is the wireless charging which I don't care about anyway.. I'm not an avid photographer just need a good enough camera to take social media pics and it's crazy how much this phone and my 10t keeps up with only a 8 megapixel ultra wide and no telephoto. and I actually love the macro camera because it helps me read fine print on things like chargers, exercise equipment and otherelectronics.. I have a 125 watt charger with the 10T and I wonder if it will have this phone charging at 100w instead of 80w u.s. standard

I'm still on the Oneplus 7 pro. looking to upgrade, saw the 12R and loving the color over the regular 12 green. I'm waiting for the 13 and/or 13R to come out to see if any significant upgrades are made and if not, then I'm just gonna bite and buy the 12R. It's damn good deal and a big enough jump from the 7 pro for me. I was really just holding out for another new phone to have the same hidden selfie camera as the 7 pro does but no luck. thoughts?
On 7 pro too! Have not taken a leap into the newer models yet as my 7 pro still performs brilliantly with no issues at all plus the hidden selfie is an epic feature which all manufacturers have stopped doing (I wonder why...)

I think the OnePlus 12R is the best "midrange" phone to get in 2024 I've had 2 OnePlus phones in the past and they lasted about 4 years. I can't say that about my Samsung phones as of yet, I really enjoyed the new skin on OnePlus phones as well. I think this is a good grab for the money. I wouldn't get the Samsung FE now that this phone is out or the pixel 8 pro but that's just my thoughts.
Agreed. I bought this phone as a backup to my s21 Ultra for 350.00 tax included with trade in. Really can't go wrong.
One thing I haven't seen in a review yet is if it still has touch to wake or facial recognition 🙏 ?

Macro camera instead of telephoto camera is silly. Ultrawide or telephoto camera can double as macro camera. I also prefer flat side panels like that of Xiaomi 14 or Apple 15 series or Samsung galaxy s24 series. But design is subjective so it's understandable.
Fantastic phones. No nonsense, clean, fast, efficient and half the price of Samsung and Apple equivalent. ❤

Doesn't say whether it has a microSD card slot, headphone jack, or optical image stabilization. Will have to look at a review that mentions these.

OnePlus 12r is awesome,with a metal frame ,has sturdy design language and screen is really very bright 🔥

GSM reception is great, the hotspot is hardware accelerated, very fast, no overheating. GPS positioning is as great as ever on Snapdragon, almost 100% tracking, no delay, 3m accuracy no matter the weather or the tall buildings in London. Little impact on battery life at high refresh rate. And most importantly, it does have the slider! No slider, no deal!
This phone is the real show this year. no real weakness and an unbeatable price
I want to ask your opinion, should I buy a phone Honor magic 5 or OnePlus 12R
CNET dislikes Oneplus like they do with Moto. They recommend Apple, Samsung and Google, however they want consumers to buy the Apple Max or Plus, Any Google Pixel phone, Samsung Galaxy Plus and Ultra because they offer 5 to 7 years of OS updates, 5 or more years of security patches, have great pictures and video, and wireless recharging. Which is why I would never buy any of them. Why should I have to spend up to 1k to buy a high-end phone? What I like about Oneplus is now they're offering the R class in America, which is much less but offers a great experience. Granted that this phone offers 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security patches, but I prefer to buy phones every 3 to 4 years instead of holding to one phone for five or more years. Also, Moto and Oneplus tend to lower their prices all the time.
Maybe I'll give Oneplus one more shot, after my Oneplus 8T and the Pixel 6 Pro as my current daily driver. It has an overall good package.
Im setting this for my mom. Her one plus 6t is still good, but it's definitely showing its age.

My Pixel 7 has garbage battery life and I'd really like to switch to the OnePlus 12R. I'm not sure if I'm ready to give up on the camera quality though.
Camera is certainly worse but you can at least get the contrasty look of pixel photos using a gcam port

This is the perfect phone for me! I rarely uses phone camera (since I own a sony camera lol) and I always feel that the wireless charge is somewhat of a gimmick .. like why would you slowly charge your phone with wireless when u can fast charge with wire? lazyness? lol
So I guess OP11 is a better option for a similar price, but all depends on what is the price of it and 12R in your region 🤔
The OnePlus 11 is about $200 more in the US. The OnePlus 12r has a super cool cooling system in it too. It has the same as the 12.
OP11 has no Aqua Touch
