Tyson does but Otr can refuse it. Not sure on regional. They asked me once I said no not doing and run out of my 70 in the Bronx if I could made it to them. Was that tight. Never asked again

Hey I got one question i hear that 60% of driving is at night are you forced to drive at night because im not a night time driver i mean i will drive in the night till about 930 but i wont drive all through the night

Depends on delivery times. Lot of places are middle night delivery. I prefer day then night but do what I have to get load on times.

As Ralph said it does all depend. And that all depends on your HOS too. Some deliveries I do are for 6 AM some are for 2 AM. When I leave home on a Thursday I can leave at 5 pm or midnight. 99% of my week I see the sun going down and see it come up. It's just the way it is. NYC deliveries all day time hours that I have done so far. Walmart DC's are anywhere from 2 pm until 2 am. Only wanting to drive til 930 pm isn't going to work for Tyson or many other companies. I've gotten to a delivery location at 3 pm thinking Id be done by 7 and get parked by 9 pm.... I didn't get released until 8 pm and parked by 1130. It does bite from time to time but it's the way the industry works. When you get a dispatch for a pick up you have a window so that window may be 1330-1700. 1700 is the latest you can get that load and leave. IDK what happens after 1700 never ran into that problem in 4 months. Delivery times at customers other then Tyson you have a set time. You can not go onto property before the hour prior to that appointment time. Ive watched so many drivers get turned away even up at the Pottsville location. With that said if you do come to Tyson that pick up window time throw that out the window and step on it if going out of Tempersville VA LOL I though it was just me but Ive seen other for the last 4 years say that location never gets you out on time. I had a 0100 pick up that wasn't released til 5 am with a 10 am appt in Dunn NC. With rush hour traffic and going over the bridge and threw the tunnel that wasn't happening. I called in and they had to get me a later appointment. I've yet to run into a company driver that only runs during the day. Not saying they dont have them but I highly doubt for OTR and regional.
Mostly every dispatch I get they have it down to a science of how many hours you have to drive after I deliver load and how many hours to get to the next pick up then figure out the 10 hr break for the next delivery.
They do expect you and the DOT allows you to go off duty or in SB when at a customer because you are not unloading the trailer (unless you want to to make the extra money, only some places allow you to do that). After 2 hours of waiting your clock resets the 2 hours waiting until it comes to your drive time. So you start your day 15 miles away from customer 15 min pre trip 20 min driving 10 min check in and back into dock. You used 45 minutes on the 14 you then sit for 6 hours getting unloaded. You have something like 8 hours on your 14 left for the day. if you stayed on duty not driving you would have You be down to around 7 hours on ur 14. Tyson already knows and in most cases you already know your next dispatch because if your are regional they like to shoot them all to you the first day out ( I get everything from Thursday to Tuesday by Thursday morning) For PA regional its 1450 min pay a week as long as you are available to drive. You can get a entire week of 200 mile days and be like crap I got no pay. You have the guaranty paid of 1450. So you leave Sunday and get 15 miles from delivery sit for 6 plus hours drive for 3 more to get to a parking location but you are 2 hours from your next pick up and have another 3 hours on the clock to get down to the road you may not get the 1450 because you had the time to get the load but you stopped and waited til the next day to get it making you late not only on the pick up but also the delivery and with it being forced dispatch that might of ended up being the last dispatch. I can't say for a fact because it's not happened to me. Any time I go to a delivery my butt's taking a nap dont matter if its for an hour or 4 hours because I know I need to drive after sitting for hours and that crap tires a person out.

@@littledocter01662 so true most Walmarts is middle night and take 45 min to 6 hours each usually 4-5 hours and food lion plan of 6 to 8 hours waiting. Dispatch only looks at computer says you can do this but don’t know real life. Load wrong or late traffic etc. and with these truck wrecks lately shut down interstates for hours they ( computer ) don’t see this. I’m in Pottsville now for food lion Butner nc and delivery at 6 pm today and 415 paid miles but I just used hour to get here but load not ready DDT is 7 am and I’m on dispatch saying dc can cause serious issues. Asked him yesterday have you ever left Arkansas? We can not go by what computer says. And I been out here 24 years and know what can happen. He been having me deliver on edge of my drive and 14 hour clock and he keeps saying pc or go over hours. Think I’m call safety in morning on him and his helper who told me this twice.

@@ralphstrucking there’s been times I parked with seconds left on 14. Food lion got to be the worst. The only part I absolutely hate and I’m doing this 17 years is you have a time to be at a location. I’m their 2 hrs later they call for the door. If ur late you need a new appointment but if they screw you on 2 hrs because they don’t have enough people to bad so sad.
