I learned more in this video from you then from my own messages and dispatch office. No one has said anything to me about this dispatch but if its true Im gonna like it but hate it at the same time and the Pottsville Dispatch are local people and they know the drivers are most are local out of Pottsville area. As for the inward camera's for the longest time I was against it but every company I spoken with as soon as the key turns off the inside camera goes off but the outside goes into standby (10 hour break) and only comes on if movement of the truck (if the truck gets hit). Many drivers dont want the inside cameras BUT YOU are driving the truck not suppose to be doing other things. With AI we don't need cameras we need eye sensors IMO. The windshield is the sensor and monitors eye movement. You close your eyes to long or take your eyes off the road the breaks start slowing you down just like the following to close sensors. If you look even with QualComm companies were able to if they wanted to record inside all tablets have cameras I believe the ones on our tablets are left hand side in the middle. Id rather have a protect your ass moment then try to have someone lie about what happen cause as the story goes its always the fault of the truck driver.
At first I didn't like that distance warning on the new volvo's but yeah.... It worth it. The only part I don't care much for is when pulling a hill and it goes off. We are given 5 seconds to make adjustments to our speed.. Im sorry Im not slowing down when im crawling a hill and go from 30 to 5 mph and end up being at fault for someone hitting me.
Drivers that Ive spoken with inside and outside of Tyson don't like the speed limiters that if the sign says 35 the truck is only doing 35. Do they save the drivers money from speeding fines? YEP. Do they make the driver late for location drop or pick up? 8/10 drivers Ive talk to said yes. When I would ask them how they done a pre plan they would walk away... That GPS might say its gonna take you 4 hours to get from point A to point B why give yourself 4.15 when you can give 5 hrs? They don't wanna talk about it.
Most of all Walmart's new trucks are coming with the e smart system. One of my friends was telling me about his. He got a 2025 day cab cause he is home every night he absolute refuses to go down to Phila. or anywhere near Phila because it picks up the signs on the side roads If he is on Rt 1 and its 55 the side/exit roads are 25 he is at 25. If he goes into the left lane it will keep him at 25. The company that designed the e smart says its a state sign issue not their issue. He said the other thing is yellow curve signs if it's 15 he can only do 15. He did get hit a few weeks ago and the driver of the car got hurt pretty bad because he didn't hit the breaks or come off the fuel for his jake the truck slowed down to 35 from a 45 and the break lights didn't come on. The car driver was fined for unsafe driving and following to close.
I told him the only thing I don't like about the following warning on my truck is if the car in front of my exits off the high way and they are in their own exit lane my warning goes off. They are not in front of me and not in my lane of travel. I brought this up a few times and all I get is a yah a lot of drivers are mentioning that. Heck, mine goes off on a curve too. Going up 84 near hartford CT around that turn near the over pass. nearly 10 beeps I called it in I was told yeah just take it easy they might have metal in the concrete not much can be done. Most construction sites that have jersey barriers it goes off too because they are connected with steel.
Prime example Pottsville up to Cheshire,Ct (just off 84/691) 241 miles about 4.5 hours. Needing to get fuel and it's raining (this Sunday) I left at noon for a 2000 appt. I got to the location at 1930. Over 2 hours in traffic no accidents just slow traffic due to weather. Now I could have left at 1400 and then be calling in saying Im late and its every thing and ones fault but my own (this happens a lot from what I hear) but if you can't pre plan you shouldn't turn on that key.
As for the new ELD I used them before. If they set it up like it should be we will be able to log in and off threw our phones. But can't go into drive or anything like that unless the company gives permission (its a secondary set up if the main tablet goes down). With the systems Ive seen as I said you can put in all your load information, truck, trailer and even get routing but you can't hit the driving option. It will not work in your personal vehicle as it needs to be sync with the tablet ( In other words you can be in your car sign on or sign off the truck but if you are driving your own car it wont put you on the drive line. On duty/ pre/ post trips wont work either because its not in range of the actual tablet). IDK how Qualcomm was but these new tablets bite. No matter where I am Pottsville, New holland, Tville, Portland Maine and even Springdale it takes forever do have the system generate the pre and post trips and then askes if you wanna wait or if you wanna close the app. Only happens at the terminals.
FYI as of this past Monday 8/19 if you go into Pottsville under 3/4 tank or a dirty MT they will turn you away. Happen to me I was just under 3/4 he said nope new rules no dirty MT's and if you are even like you are a hair under 3/4 you got to leave. So I called in and they sent me down to ex 100 for 8 gallon that's all it taken. I'm like I just burned over a hour of my day for 8 gallon plus 9 gallon of truck fuel. When IF we were told about this I would have stopped in Pittson on my way threw. In the shack the paper said anyone excluding Tyson under 3/4 are turned away. Now its all companies. As far as washouts you got the BB in Carilse exit 54 i think, Old exit 5 in NY on 84 and the one in jersey off 295. I don't think New Holland has a hose and I know down in Wilks boro depending on who's working you can even show them the wash out receipt and they will say well that's fine but now its gonna be washed out again.
Well when new truck stop opens across street of Pottsville dispatch can get fuel card turn on for emergency fuel / reefer fyi.
@@ralphstrucking Hopefully soon that will open. They didn't do much the last two weeks only put up the BK sign. They need to take out more of the mountain and explain that lot for tyson trucks to park and a fuel island would be nice even if it was just one pump and a make shift bay for the guys works on the trailers. Cant recall where I was at but I needed work done on a reefer and they said yeah go around back theirs a shop. I went around back the shop was and I kid you not a half of covered pole building just enough to keep the repair guys out of the weather. Im like well this works better then Pottsville.

This one reason I decided not to return to trucking had enough A hole’s on road I know in it's in your blood as you told me but just don’t want deal with it anymore. sick of people always blaming truckers like people in car so innocent had out with lady other day on FB said she hates us I said well don’t buy things or stay off the road problem solved. Just tired being stressed out all the time also I started commercial cleaning business more on road I was less I get time working on my business a person once told me when work for someone you make them rich live their dream not yours.

Ralph the reason grocery prices are high is because of companies like Tyson Foods have become big monopolies with little competition and now they can charge whatever prices they want greed is fueling inflation
Well feed prices are up but crop prices are down and right now cow prices are at a highest it ever been.

Tyson keeps product prices low because they have their own fleet. If they got rid of their trucks and trucking insurance and brought in mega fleets they would have to pay more then having their own trucks. So to keep prices low and business running they are only doing what is told to them by the mega insurance companies to keep their insurance rates low. It's a business choice.
Just look at all these owner ops without the technology (ELD, Outside cameras, speed limiters, side and front sensors) as ask them what they are paying for insurance. I'm sure it's a lot more then the o/o that has that technology.
I personally know a man that upgraded his entire fleet from early 90 trucks to early 2010's because it would have cost him around 40 grand more a year for insurance without having ELD's. Insurance companies are in it to win it. Another thing is most of those pretty long nose KW's and Petes have some form of ELD most likely depending on the trucks age its on their phone because the trucks don't have the computer systems to support the ELD programs because insurance companies wouldn't cover them or companies wouldn't give them a lease.
Take yourself. You have two cars lets say a 85 F150 and a 2025 F150 which one is giving you the discounts? Which one in the long run is cheaper on your insurance? Both BTW have full coverage. 85 no technology and only lap bets. 2025 sensors and yes they do have ACC (adaptive cruise control)in cars too that you can turn off (my 22 bronco has it and my 22 RAM 1500), 6 billion air bags and plastic bumpers (HA). The insurance company looks at the technology so that 2025 is going to be cheaper then that 85 although id take that 85 over that 2025 any day.
