I didn't think Q&A's could actually be enjoyable, let alone this enjoyable. Great channel btw you guys complement each others perfectly, so even if I don't completely agree with one single person, I'll always know whether I'll like the bottle before I even grab it. You might want to do more blind tastings/comparison where you don't know the (other) bottles so you don't get influenced by the label; makes for more content without the need to go unicorn hunting so it's more relatable for people who can only get their hands on the basic stuff (especially for people out of the US like me in Europe). That sub $40 video was awesome, grabbed 3 bottles of Eagle Rare thanks to it. Cheers.
Hey guys, first of all, I enjoy your channel and all episodes are nice and entertaining. Watched most of 'em so far but didn't see any Jack Daniels review so far. Can you please make an episode with Single barrel and Gentleman Jack comparison?
You are great and fun to watch in between real life. Your scoring system is inflated as mentioned and some of the bourbons come out too high in my opinion. I do love the fact you do cheap and expensive bourbons. Aren't you going to run out of bourbons to try this year? Keep it up!
Great Q &A fellas! Can’t wait for the Rare Breed review and hopefully more Wild Turkey in general! Some have stated try some completely blind reviews and I think that’s a great idea because seeing the bottle can definitely play tricks on people. Cheers fellas!🥃👍
I'd really like to see you guys find a middle-of-the-road bottle you all agree on to use as baseline to reference to during your shows. Say, Four Roses yellow label (or what not) to have a reference sip sometime throughout for comparison. Time after time. It may add some objectivity. But the show is loads of fun as is too. You guys do a great job.
Thanks for mentioning my comment! I may have had a pour or two when I wrote that. :) Sorry Dillon, I am dyslexic, so spelling is not my strong suit. I do look forward to the show and was excited to see a bonus one this week. My wife and I are on the Bourbon Trail as we watched this, you guys have added to our vacation! Thanks for all that you do and keep the reviews coming! Please bring back Mr Dillon. 🥃PS. Is there a history of all the scores complied somewhere? That would be nice.
Please... more videos. U guys defiantly have more then 3 viewers. N Defiantly have higher quality content then Reviewers with 10 times your subscriber count. By far my favorite whisky channel on UA-cam. N I follow them all. I have seen every video in your library and need more. Please. Keep it up boys. Cheers.
Great show, thanks for using my question🥃. Suggestion! When I travel I like to try bourbons I see on your show, but won’t spend money to buy a whole bottle unless I like it. I always take a picture of the bottle (if bartender let’s me) then I put the picture in my note app and make my own rating. Wouldn’t it be great to have a Bourbon Guild app, that lets me take picture, use your rating scale based on my opinion, then having it compared to other app users and yours, I’d even pay for an app like that.
My impression/understanding is that the Eagle Rare 10 is "mostly" a single barrel but the bottling system might mix a some barrels together. Also, how about branching off into mixing bourbons(Makers 46 and Maker Cask strength) and trying other whiskey's or spirits; just a thought.
Excellent Q & A session gentlemen, just wondering what you fellas drink when not reviewing bourbon like what was in the glencairns in front of you as you answered these astute and hilarious questions?
Question: You have mentioned buying bottles at "Flash Sales".. Please let me know where these "flash sales' take place. Asking for my friend @gotanywhiskybro. If you choose not to share with everyone here, message me @gotanywhiskeybro :)
I know this is a older video but my question would be have you guys ever done a video in which ben didn't use the phrase "astute viewers" several times.
Big fan, you guys have great chemistry. What’s the significance of Schwarzenegger characters? The irony of your detailed analyses is most of your scores regardless of the quality, age or price end up between 7 and 9, basically telling us that all bourbons pretty much taste the same.
I dont mean to be so off topic but does anyone know a method to log back into an Instagram account?? I somehow lost my password. I love any assistance you can give me!
@Simon Azariah I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
So Donner Pass Whiskey needs to buy one of each = GTS and WLW? I would disagree with Dillon's score comments. No schools grade so 1/2 the students under 50 and the other half 50 to 100. Dutch needs to get his nose into the bottle to even get close to smelling anything! Like this format and hope you do every couple of months. Happy International Whisk(e)y Day and Cheers.
I've always been conflicted about the argument that 5/10 should be average. It's simple math, so I get it. But I also know that distilleries by and large don't release crap (the 1-4s of the world) very often. So how exactly are we judging this stuff? Are we grading all of this on a curve where the worst commercially-released whiskey is a 1? Or are we grading a bit more objectively, where a 1 is literally undrinkable and palatable spirits start to hit at the ~5 mark? In the second case it does make pretty solid sense that there would be many offerings clustered in the 7-9 range as most distilleries will be striving for quality releases, even on the bottom shelf. I would argue that at the end of the day the exact scale you use isn't relevant - so long as you define it and maintain consistency with it. Also, d20s and Star Trek references. You are so my people. =)
Your scoring system IS invalid. It should be out of 100 points. That way you have 10x the flexibility and you'd be able to account for more (or less) nuances.
I agree with Dillon. Their ratings are often inflated. They rated Blanton's at 8.5. Blanton's, despite it's popularity, is a pretty mediocre bourbon. It's nowhere near an 8.5. I would give it anywhere between a 5 and 6.5 rating. It's not the best bourbon, it's hard to get your hands on, and the price is often inflated. It's probably one of the most overrated, allocated bourbons you can buy. Also, Eagle Rare is and isn't a single barrel. Most bottles are going to be a single barrel, but since the bottling process has been automated, you might get the last bits of one barrel and the rest of the whiskey from the start of another barrel. Most bottles are single barrel, but some will be a combination of two.
I would say based on your scale you are not harsh enough. Possible score 11, so 5.5 is average, I think I have only seen a couple of scores there which tells me all the bourbons you are trying are above average. I still love the show,!
I heard Mila sought out to endorse a liquor (any type) and was not truly a bourbon gal before teaming up with Beam. I'd rather reach for a Rare Breed, but watch Mila Kunis!
You guys really have a high production quality, cool backgrounds, unique Bourbons to review, but I cringe when Ben rants as if he is better that the three of you. I have a couple of friends who watched once and caught a rough Ben episode and no longer tune in. You can be harsh on the bourbon but don't be harsh on the opinion of the rest of the guys. Because you like or don't like something don't bash your fellow panelist. Ben just state your own opinion because it is who you are and don't judge the others, just the bourbon. I want to watch you guys and share the channel.
Say what you want. If you enjoy it and I enjoy it, there is no way you can make your friends enjoy it. Dont be one of those people that say, you have to watch this, that's a sure fire way to make them not watch it.
I love these Q&A vids.
That Iron Maiden shirt though...solid

Awesome video! We all need more of these videos in our lives.
Will you guys ever make new content? I hope so, I really enjoy this channel!
Why does Ben introduce himself as the Butcher of Bakersfield?
Running man! See the movie you will understand.

I say everyone should wear their favorite rock band t-shirt episodes to come.

Next Q&A : each of you name your top 3 Bourbons irregardless of availability and money...

Question: why is Dutch the only one NOT wearing a The Bourbon Guild shirt?
Just saying
Let's see a distribution graph of your ratings and review the deviation pattern.
Enjoying the channel guys and i am a scotch drinker.

I agree with the comment that the grading scale being way too harsh. Jules never gives any bourbon above a 7.5 most 7.0s.
Loved the segment. And you were pretty close on the last name.
Question: You have mentioned buying bottles at "Flash Sales".. Please let me know where these "flash sales' take place. Asking for my friend @gotanywhiskybro. If you choose not to share with everyone here, message me @gotanywhiskeybro :)
Best of all shows. And useful.
The real question is... Where is Mr. Dillon!?
I know this is a older video but my question would be have you guys ever done a video in which ben didn't use the phrase "astute viewers" several times.

@Simon Azariah it did the trick and I now got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thank you so much, you saved my ass!
@Adrien Dakota happy to help =)
Another great show!!

Why would Chewbacca live on Endor? That does not make cent!

"nothing edible" lmao!
Can Ben never say “give me your wheater “ever again? Haha.

You should invite Whoopie sometime.
My last name is French lol. I bet if Jules owned his own Distillery he'd rank his own bourbon less than a 6 😂😂.

I 1st watched when Ben was what you call rough. I knew I had to watch again when I seen that. Maybe your friends should stick to The Big Bang Theory
Charles aka Ben's best buddy
