  • Check out this amazing, never-before-seen footage of Big People kicking ass at the Rockin' the Hills festival at the Wild Rose Amphitheater in Bottineau, North Dakota. The band took the stage on Saturday, July 1, at 2:15 pm. Ben's health was declining and he was losing weight rapidly, but his attitude was strong and he was still jamming like a true rocker!
This footage was generously given to me by Joe Dlearo, and is shared here with permission. There is more to come as we approach the 22nd anniversary of this incredible bit of Big People history, so please stay tuned.
Did you know there is a Big People Facebook group? It mainly serves as a centralized collection site for all information, photos and memorabilia of the band, as well as biographical tidbits and current happenings of the various members. Join here: www.facebook.c...

I feel their hearts as they play! Giving it their best musically while keeping a discreet eye on Ben and loaning him their extra energy. Derek and Rob are so well-matched vocally, too. My favorite little part was the beginning of the "waiting, anticipating" bridge because we get to see Ben's long fingers add a little sparkle to his part. Thanks so much for posting each of these songs as the jewels they are!

I've driven the state three or four times and know whereof I speak: I really like North Dakota. If you ever have the choice, skip SD and drive ND.
The mosquitos? World class. Epic. Monsters.

Its so unfortunate the Derek got buried and frustrated in his early career with Nugent. Great underrated vocalist.

All of Ted Nugent albums without Derek St. Holmes all flopped. Ted Nugent hampered his own career with jealousy. Because he tried to completely bury Derek St. Holmes and replace him with Charlie Huhn.

This is fantastic. I really wish these folks had a studio album together. Can only imagine the greatness exuding there. But so thankful we have these clips. A great song and performance. The song as well as Hold on Loosely was co-written by Jim Peterik of Ides of March and Survivor originally done by 38. Special and one that always gets me back in my 8th grade seat where i first heard it. . Ha. BIG LIKE!

I've also thought the same thing. All they could pretty much do was get out on the road. Considering they didn't have time enough to record an album with Ben.

Can someone tell me who Rob Wilson is? I haven't read it anywhere unless I missed something. Was he from another band or just a friend of Bens who happened to know how to play guitar? Anyway this band was so good. Ben was such trooper. I admire him so much. He is forever my hero. ❤

Unfortunately we don't see him much here; he's sitting on his stool toward the back. He is front and center during other parts of the Bottineau show... You'll find the complete footage here on my channel. 🥰
