We ( my son and I) had to say goodbye to our cat ( Pebbles) on September 12th. Reading stopped. Now I can only reading romance and something with a guaranteed happy ending.
So happy to see a video from you. I'm in Asheville and I can't focus enough to read either. Booktube videos are my go-to for decompressing, and you're my favorite. Take care of yourself!
As someone who reads a book a month or less: You're still reading a lot! 😂🥰 Picked a horror book you really liked last year, "The library at mount Char" and I can't wait! Given up on Ruth Ware's The turn of the key. The protagonist is a nanny, page one is her getting accused of murdering one of them, and it sounds like we're back to the gaslighting of The woman in cabin 10. And I sooooo can't get into that nonesense again!
Hooray for the Paladin books! I am excited for you to get to them! They are such great fantasy-romance-humor-horror-adventure stories! They got me through the pandemic. I hope you enjoy them too whenever you pick them up! I too am in the mode of stress leads to anxiety leads to chronic health condition flare up leads to brain fog/inability to focus. Take care of yourself, the books will be there when you're ready! ❤
Brain fog and stress really suck. I hope that things get better for you soon. Thanks for sharing your potential reading plans! What felt rambly to you came off very organized to me :) The different buckets were clear and you have such exciting books on your TBR. Take care!
During our 60 hour power outage due to Hurricane Helene flooding, I read "We Solve Murders" and "The Guest List." "We Solve Murders" was fun, and I like the new characters. It sets up nicely for future sequels. But, I liked the Thursday Murder Club series better. It may be because I am 70 years old. I am glad to see you are getting your drive back, kinda sorta.
Oh man, totally in the same boat right now. I've had extremely high stress this month, and my brain is utter mush, making reading difficult. Really wishing you a break in the clouds coming up.
Heather Graham, the series The Krewe Hunters. They are short and read quickly. They all have a mystery and the group solves them using regular procedure and ghosts sometimes help. 😊 They were Harlequin, go figure. Feel better ❤
So happy to see a video from you this morning! Also, I’m all for you taking care of yourself and if that means less videos, I support you! I preordered We Solve Murders but it was delayed. I couldn’t wait so I bought the audiobook. I loved it so much! I’m already casting the movie in my head (actually I think there is going to be a Netflix series so there may already be a cast). My physical book came in and I am planning to read it but slowly to savor it. I hope you enjoy it when you get to it!
I’m almost finished with We Solve Murders. I’m loving it. I was worried because I adored The Thursday Murder Club series and feared the new series would be so different, but it has very similar vibes, so I think you’re in for a treat. ❤
That intro is definitely relatable for me, especially this year. I work in IT, and it's been an absolute nightmare. Reading has been so hard, just time and bandwidth wise. Anyway, I hope things get better for you! And love that eyeshadow colour on you! 💜✨️
Hiiii, can u do a video on themes discussed in Christie novels as I love christie.Whenever I am in a reading slump I take up a christie and it rejuvenates me❤❤❤❤❤love ur videos🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
i've also experienced a long period this year with a health-related vicious cycle causing an incapacitating brain fog, and i wish you all the best to recover from it :) on another note, i’m so glad to have started supporting you as a christie patron ! i've been watching you for a couple of years already and your videos have been a huge comfort to me. it makes me sooo happy to have finally found a creator who enjoys reading as much as i do with literary tastes extremely similar to mine ! i always look forward to your videos (and have been going back through your catalog of older ones), but i hope you also take enough time for yourself to rest physically and mentally in order to be able to plainly enjoy what you do and share with us again wishing you all the best ;) IMANE
Welcome and thank you for the kind words! I hope you are on the mend from your brain fog cycle- it’s hard to describe to folks who haven’t experienced it but if you know you know 💛💛💛
This was the push I needed to finally pick up Paladin's Grace. I just bought the Richard Osmand for a family member's birthday so I'm looking forward to it circling around to me when they've read it. I read Fourth Wing and the sequel recently and immediately bought it for friends. Great popcorn book, I can see how my emotions are being manipulated and I love it! 😂
I do hope you feel better soon. I have lived with depression and anxiety for 30yrs. It is managed and I live a good productive life. Please don't put pressure on yourself with too many targets, it will make your anxiety worse, especially if you don't meet them. Focus on recovery and the rest will follow. ❤❤❤
you've inspired me to do some rest of the year tbr planning too! i think i also function best as a mood reader within structure, so this was a fun video to watch.
I am new to your channel and glad i found it! I can completely relate - my focus is shot due to a family member's illness. I just joined storygraph so i can check content warnings, and I unapologetically rejected books from my TBR that could be triggering. I have still be DNFing books all over the place, but I have found a few that keep my attention.
I would love to hear what you think of A Witch's Guide to Fake Dating a Demon - I've loved those books!!! Sending all the good vibes to you, anxiety is so rough ❤❤
I'm intrigued to hear your thoughts on the new Richard Osman. I fell out of love with Thursday Murder Club after the first couple of books, but a new set of characters could be a good change! Wishing you the best of luck with health stuff, I can fully relate.
My work is in it's busy season. I had been planning on a Brandon Sanderson re-read before the end of the year and his new book release, but instead I've been listening to the In Death series again because those require less focus for me to get through. And there are a lot of them, so I don't have to switch worlds between books.
Good luck with your reading and general stress. I'm feeling burned out with reading, especially nonfiction. I've got to finish one nonfiction book. Then I might just read fun fiction for a while.
I just finished The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy this week, which I expected to enjoy but didn't anticipate loving so much, so I had to buy Twyla and Frank immediately 😂 There's definitely a third one coming out next year, and I considered putting it off, but I think I'm just going to jump into the sequel first thing in October, lol. Although I also need to start the Paladin books. The only thing I'm debating is if I should pick up A Sorceress Comes to Call first since it's a standalone and I'll get through it quicker, except I recently (and unintentionally) read another Goose Girl retelling and I don't want that to affect my reading...
I’ve caught up on my cozy mystery series. The books are so fast paced and silly that they’re easy to fly through. I also kinda lol’d that I was reading authors named Rachel in September. Creation Lake was awesome, Us In Ruins is the best YA of the year, and Black Sheep was good for horror that wasn’t hard horror. Was wondering if you might feel better if you tried some litfic? It’s the fantasy and thrillers that are sucking this year - the good authors who released last year are all taking the same year off.
I completely understand the want to read, but your brain not being in the right place to do that. It's very frustrating. I hope you get better soon. There a few book I want to read, but my brain won't let me concentrate enough to read them. I really want to continue and finish The Forbidden Heir Trilogy by Emilia Jae and continue the In Death series by J.D. Robb. If I could ever get myself together and set aside any fears I'd love to do a podcast on the In Death series because I love it so much. Your podcast about Psy-Chaneling was really enjoyable and I love how you talked about the series, breaking down why you loved each book, but also being honest when a book didn't reach its full potential as well. You can love a series and not love every book as equally. Take care.
Pace and Balance :) Taking care of you is so important! Best wishes Mara, and thank you for inspiring me to get back into reading!
We ( my son and I) had to say goodbye to our cat ( Pebbles) on September 12th. Reading stopped. Now I can only reading romance and something with a guaranteed happy ending.
I’m so sorry for your loss 💛
I'm so sorry about your kitty 😢
I hate when anxiety makes it hard to focus on things, hope it does end in October 🤞🏼
Things are looking up 🤞
So happy to see a video from you. I'm in Asheville and I can't focus enough to read either. Booktube videos are my go-to for decompressing, and you're my favorite. Take care of yourself!
Hoping things work out for you!❤
You have the best Agatha Christie videos on UA-cam.
Wishing you all the best 🎉
Mood reading within structured reading ❤🎉 Yes, exactly.
I always appreciate your thoughtful reviews and recommendations. Thank you!

Enjoyed The Mystery Writer.

I’m so excited for them!!
I have reached the emotionally numb stage of anxiety so I am just reading to feel anything for a short while
Brain fog and stress really suck. I hope that things get better for you soon. Thanks for sharing your potential reading plans! What felt rambly to you came off very organized to me :) The different buckets were clear and you have such exciting books on your TBR. Take care!
Whew, I am glad it was reasonably coherent!
Don't be too hard on yourself! With illness and stress comes a lot of life side effects. Just keep going and I hope it eases soon.❤❤

same to you! 💚
sorry, last comment 😂 Ursa Dax’s Married to an Alien Cowboy is about 270 pages and the second book is less than that if you need something shortish!
I absolutely LOVED the paladin series. I hope you do too!
Heather Graham, the series The Krewe Hunters. They are short and read quickly. They all have a mystery and the group solves them using regular procedure and ghosts sometimes help. 😊 They were Harlequin, go figure. Feel better ❤
Yes! These are my go to easy reads for that procedural formula. I also love the random bits of local history thrown into the books.

Just what I want to hear!
Great tbr for the end of the year!! I totally hear stress causing brain fog. 😶🌫️

Thank you!
I LOVED The Luminous Dead. So atmospheric and creepy!

I’m glad you made this video. 🥰
Hope everything gets better in the coming weeks ⭐️⭐️
Excited for We Solve Murders and also hoping to get to The Spellshop in the next few weeks.
I would love to hear what you think of A Witch's Guide to Fake Dating a Demon - I've loved those books!!! Sending all the good vibes to you, anxiety is so rough ❤❤
Ahhh, the Paladin books! You should absolutely get on the rest of them.⛓️🗡️
Crazy! I'm doing the same thing right now :) Great earrings!
Yay! Thank you!

Thank you for the video
You bet!

Oooo an In death reread sounds lovely 🥰
Good luck with your reading and general stress. I'm feeling burned out with reading, especially nonfiction. I've got to finish one nonfiction book. Then I might just read fun fiction for a while.
Ooo yes, some fun fiction sounds like just the ticket
You must include at least one book of author Sobers Rodrigues if you like thrillers. His books are so awesome.

YES I think Undertaking is very underrated in the cozy fantasy/light romantasy space! Very well executed

I’ve got a couple of those on the docket for when I’m in the mood for really good writing 🥰
Drop everything and read Paladin's Grace. You will not regret it.
I completely understand the want to read, but your brain not being in the right place to do that. It's very frustrating. I hope you get better soon.

iirc The Mill House Murders has the same detective/main character but the stories are unrelated
😊
not to lead the witness but Twyla and Frank felt SOOO different from Hart and Mercy for me
