I always get so excited when I see that you upload! You're one of my favorite booktube channels ♥️ currently working on crocheting Christmas presents for my nieces while I watch this
The television adaptation of The Marlow Murder Club just aired here in the US on PBS, and it was quite enjoyable. Lovely to see Samantha Bond back on the screen portraying the protagonist, Judith! Hope they continue adapting more books from the series.
Loved this vlog from you, Mara!! I think you have inspired me to do my own at home ABC challenge, it sounds like fun and I'm trying to read down my physical TBR too. I hope you are doing well too and can't wait to see your next video
Loved the vlog Mara, so good to see a new video from you. I don’t read much YA but that opening note in Queen of the Tiles got me, so now that’s on the wishlist. Thank you for sharing your book thoughts and recommendations as always 😊
Really liked this video and its format. You seem to have read several books that you liked. I have been wanting to read "Queen of the Tiles" for some time now. I started "The Marlow Mystery Club" a while ago, but I watched the PBS adaptation before I had gotten very far into the book; now I don't want to finish the book until enough time passes for me to forget major details of the story. The film is wonderful. Happy reading, Kay
Looks like you had some pretty good wina in this video. I love Simone St James and i do think her older historical mysteries read a bit different, but as you said ive never read a bad book by her. If your looking for another fun MG/YA historical mystery then I highly recommend The Scandalous Sisterhood of Prickwillow Place by Julie Berry
I admit sometimes the suspension of disbelief really can interfere. I had issues with Ice Planet Barbarians (one I was listening to the audiobooks and well, like many series they use the same narrators but I listened to a couple in a month and it felt everyone was the same) and the main was the population size was just far too small for long term viability :) I am sad that my library does not have poison is not polite.
I didn't like Jar of hearts as well The first chapter started very intriguing and I was thinking that this is potential 5 starts, but after that it went downhill. I could barely read the chapters in the prison. Through all of the time I was indicisive between 2 and 3 stars, but the ending was ridiculous.
Hi Mara, I’d like to recommend to you The Swifts by Beth Lincoln. It’s a middle grade closed circle murder mystery (and treasure hunt). Please ignore the bad reviews on GoodReads it’s all angry adults about there being a non binary side character.
Uuuu…loving your content Mara (is it your name? Cannot find it anywhere). Where is part 1? Also, feedback: the “background sound” when doing a voiceover was too loud. I think it sounds differently to you when you edit than to us when uploaded. Or am I the only one? Could be. Cheerio!
Part 1 of this project is here!: ua-cam.com/video/BYeVWlbwzrk/v-deo.html
“What’s your favourite part of the alphabet song, Holmes?”
“LMNOP, my dear Watson!”

So perfectly cozy - books and fiber arts!

Delight prefect description of Marlow Murder Club
Nice vlog! I was missing a Q for my alphabet challenge so also thanks for the rec ❤
I loved Jar of Hearts, Lost Among the Living and the Marlowe Murder Club! Simone St. James is one of my favorite ghost story authors!

Never say "I know all your secrets" to a group of people...even birdwatchers.
He honestly kind of brought it on himself at that point

I stuck my toe in the River Thames in 1996-it was a wee bit yucky.
see that's what I'm thinking...
👏👏👏👏👏
Please come back to Ninth Rain, I guarantee it's not what you think it is. 👀
Really loving your sweater, eyeshadow, hair tie combo at the end!
Oh thank you!
