Dirt Cheap Copart Wreck! Is It Worth It?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 13 жов 2024
- After driving big trucks and SUV's for a long time Tosh decided that she would like a litter cheap beater car to go to town and take the kids to school that would be easier to park and cheaper on gas. So she bought this wrecked 03 Subaru Forester that my buddy bought from Copart. Can we get it fixed up and looking better on the cheap? and is it any good?

Its interesting. How many 12 (ish) year olds can drive the car to the shop, change oil, and plugs, unsupervised, and with a level of competence not found in SO many adults. One of my favorite parts of your channel(s) is that you are building not only life time memories, but also real world competencies.
🎉😮
It's called critical thinking not the y
My 11 year old Grandson does it
True even tho those kids will be driving electric cars
Loved to see Ralphie doing work by himself, setting up camera angles, changing earl, plugs and wires, his southern drawl accent..
And we got some awesome closeups of his hair as well😁. Ralphie you did really well on your videoing. That was the only thing you might wanna keep in mind next time. Great job.
Ralphie is The Duke Of Earl!
The accent sounds put on. But I ain't mad at it.
Ralphie is gonna own a string of dealers and car repair shops in 10. Yrs
love watching Squeeze learning to drive - her facial expressions are just priceless and such beautiful eyes
Subaru advice: every 100,000 miles you MUST replace the cam belt ! Wise owners do a complete kit, which includes the water pump and tensioner. My daughter bought one in Australia where they're very popular, the Dealer kit was a thousand bucks, but the mechanics and gear heads said the aftermarket kits are better and are $350.
Up til 2006 the lateral expansion of the engine caused premature intake gasket failure, watch for leaking antifreeze. Word is, replacement intake gaskets are better than what's on pre-2006 engines.
Also, some "experts" will tell you to adjust the valve followers when they get noisy. You can't take the valve covers off with the engine in the car...but good news is, noisy valves at startup is normal on a boxer. If the ticking goes away when the engine heats up, no need to adjust anything. Subarus are good quality long lasting vehicle's, worth fixing.
Head gasket failure was up until 2009 10, mine blew at 200,000 kms which is about the miles this one has, Subaru would never admit it as being a factory fault with there cheap head gaskets.
"can you reach the brake well".... "Yeah"....."which ones the brake"
🤣🤣🤣👍
Priceless
Oh my God I about lost it and had to pause the video. Priceless just priceless
Easy way to remember... tall and skinny is fast, short and fat is slow!
Cracks me up.. Wawa loves working on the cars and Squeezy doesn't even know the right pedals...she's such a princess...lol
She definitely needs windows tinted. Kudos to Ralphie for his maintenance work.
Thank you
Ralphie did a bang up job on the oil change, tune up and the paint job.Youre teaching him well.Keep up the great family videos.
I love the terror on everyone's face when Marge put her foot down.
No kidding
@@sleeperdude2690 I probably laughed way to much. It was just to funny. Thanks for the great videos 👍
Ralphie has it handled ...like a pro
🤣🤣🤣
Ralphie gonna be a service writer at major delarships.
It was kool seeing Ralphie take the initiative and start wrenchin'!
Monday sleeperdude? Impeccable!
Awesome
I saw a video while back, where this girl drove up to the fuel pump, got out, realized the tank was on the other side of the car, so, she pulled out, turned the vehicle around, and, went to the other side of the pump. She got out, walked around, and, the tank was still on the side away from the pump. She did this three or four times before someone took pity on her, and, parked the car at the pump correctly, so, she could pump her gas. 😂😂😂😅😅😅 It was so stinking hilarious to watch!!!
For people with spacial issues, things like that can be very frustrating.
Kudos to Ralphie for doing an awesome job on the tune up. He's a great kid.i would definitely take my car to him for service. Most kids his age have no clue how to fix a car. You have shown your kids real values. Glad they arent glued to cell phones. This is the stuff kids should be learning. My husband did the same stuff with his dad when he was ralphies age. Love you guys. ❤
I just did the plugs on my 04 Ranger with a 5.0 stuffed in..I feel his pain, my hands look like I lost a vicious cat fight !
The gas meter on the dash has an arrow, show which side the tank is on😂😂😂😂... the small things in life.
Look at the gas pump gage and it has an arrow to show you which side of the car the filler door is, that's on all cars,,,,,,,,,
@@jimmymccracken9702 only in america they have that
@@mindedchaos funny thing is my xtrail in Australia has it
Watching Squeezy in the back of that Scooby-Do while Mom was driving was the funniest thing I've seen on UA-cam in the last 3 weeks!!🤣😂 OMG! Her expressions are priceless!!😱😳
That’s great glad you like it
Squeezle is so beautiful! All the kids have such varied interests and reactions! Talented too!
Keep your eyes on her , 4 years from now she will probably be a famous artist or a model in some car commercials. It is good to be interesting to see what direction the channel goes as the kids grow up and get boyfriends and husbands and wives and then have children of their own in a few years .
That spray can paint is not a catalyst paint and is not going to be durable and won't match because it is a base clear factory paint. White is actually a tough color to match. You would not believe how many different shades of white there is. At least they didn't use the rattle can paint on the inside part of the doors but for a 20 year old Subaru it's good enough
The kids acted like vampires when she opened the sun roof😂😂😂
You should get Squize to paint the whole car as she want.
Van! Whole murals!
i feel a flower power vibe coming on!
Yall are literally my family 20years ago. It always makes my day watching your videos! Reminds my of my childhood. You are a great father and building something great for your children. Don't ever stop!!!!
Same here my friend!
No more snow days now that’ll go through a blizzard. Subaru is very popular here in Alaska.
🤣🤣🤣
Like stated before water pump and timing belt, i do them when I get them just to be dang safe ..keep up the good work sleeperdude and family
Ok thanks
My Father-in-law swore by them they live in Maine and he had one from the early 80's until the day he passed. He would drive them until the body was falling off and then he would go get him a new one. I don't know much about the new ones but the 80's and 90's were great cars. I hope y'all are doin good! 👍 Ricky from Waco Texas.😁
🙌 Hooray, what a surprise! Another Sleeperdude video! Now let's watch it.
Hope you enjoy!
@@sleeperdude2690
Thanks for replying and especially for giving a heart to my comment. As you might know meanwhile, I always and totally appreciate both very much. 2) Yes, of course I enjoyed it (see my long comment).
Sincerely yours.
Where's. Rocky??
Awesome video love squeezy learning how to drive
Hi Sleeperdude family. My brother bought a ’98 Subaru Outback with a 5-speed manual,2 years ago, and he loves it. Found it at the Subaru dealer in Downtown Chattanooga.
Awesome
Josh that air freshener has gotta be on point!😆
Tosh gets in and just plants her foot on the accelerator, just the usual. LOL.
Yep
The misadventures of Ralphie! I love it! He's such a great kid😊
That will be a great little car for Wa to drive or at least learn to drive on. Her bug is super cool but it might not be the most practical daily this day and age.
Yeah for sure
Safer. Fer sure!!?
Tint them. Windows
Everyone did a great job bringing this car up to snuff with all the basics. Nice new acquisition.
Yeah I have a 2000 legacy.. 274,000 MI, still going.. next to unstoppable in the snow.. has power almost everything.. been really really good 😊 squeezy finally got her Subaru.
I think Mum needs to do a school run driving video. Never seen anyone hang on for dear life when she hit the wheel. Bless you Tosh 😀
A guy I worked with had 3 of the Foresters over a 20 year period. He loved them all! Never had any issues with them at all.
I was just commenting about a subaru swap in WAWA’s bug on the last video too!!!….along with the mystery machine for squeezy…..nice little subaru….looks like a great copart find!!!
Pressure check the cooling system to check for Head gasket leaks . The head gasket usually leaks to the outside . The left is the most common one for leaking. Those cars have a fuse slot to put a fuse in and make it 2 wheel drive for better fuel mileage. Any amp fuse works.
And see if the timing belt has ever been done!!
Pretty nice vehicle for the price. Needs a little bodywork, but it seems sold mechanically. Ralphie did an amazing job with the maintenance and painting! You are blessed with three Great Kids! 👍
love your videos, i randomly found your channel a few months ago and had zero interest or knowledge of cars, but i've learned so much watching you. such a great role model, appreciate you and your family!
Awesome, thank you!
Good afternoon from Cape Cod ⚓ good luck with your new car Tosh. You guys are always a joy to watch and may God be with you all ✌️🇺🇲
Good afternoon from Cape Ann
I like it when you have a second channel your videos are awesome to watch since there all family friendly 👍🏻🇨🇦
What a way to start the week. A surprise Sleeperdude video waiting when I got home from work! Impeccable!
Yes hope you enjoyed
Really nice to see squeeze drive for a change
Yeah she liked this one
Very cool ralphie watching you work on the car
The outtakes are the best part of every video
Thank you
Thanks for sharing, and enjoy your little car. I'll see you later.
I’m so happy today. My f350 project finally drove. The clutch was stuck disengaged after the engine swap but the old 93 crew cab dually finally moved again.
Awesome
ABSOLUTELY-------> OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!. 🙂
We have a 2011 outback. 320k and counting. Its been all over the country from yellowstone to Georgia up to Canada around lake Superior. and everywhere in between. Great family car. You went right on the spark plugs. They dont run well on the cheapies. I tried and changed them in like 5k miles.
Looking good 🎉 nice job on the earl change Ralph
Wow Squeeze not only has on shoes but they also match!
Once in a blue moon
Nice little gas saver and agree it will help WaWa better acclimated to driving
20:26 AMAZING in the snow. At least my Crosstrek is lol. And yes a LOT of Subies up north here where it snows.
Best wishes on the new purchase. Looks like a winner for sure. Ralphy did a great job.
I love the Forester! I'm on my 3rd Outback, so I am a big Subaru fan 😊
GREAT JOB Ralphie!!
Welcome to the Subaru family. I got my 2024 Subaru Outback Touring XT exactly one month ago. I traded in my 41,000 mile 2010 2SS/RS Camaro with supercharger and track/suspension (553 HP/505 Torque to the wheels).
Awesome thanks
...on purpose?
Subaru forester the best car. It is first crossover car. It good on offroad and in the town driving. It steering really good because opposite engine is a cause of low center of gravity. And as long as we talk about engine. It was produced for the US market, so I guess it atmo EJ25. It is mega reliable engine. I have now forester sf5, it issued long long time ago... in 1998, but still in very good condition! So my congratulations about this purchase! And it will be the best twice if it have a TV series transmission.
Love all the channels. Keep up the good work. God bless you all.
Thanks, you too!
Ur welcome
Ralphie trying to lay down and drive lol
I used to have a Subaru and someone told me to make sure all the tires were all the same or it would mess up the AWD system. It was unstoppable in Ohio snow
Great job Ralphie!!!! I love the new car for Marge!!!!
Your Lad has got skills, and smashing his knuckles he now has the war wounds we all have, You've done a great job passing your skills down to your children .You are a great role model ,
We had a 2005 Subie Outback. We gave it to our oldest for school . He drove it to 228,000 miles when the head gasket finally blew. (LH). I did one timing belt change previous on it and wasn't super fun. They are super reliable cars , though.. . enjoy it. Also good job to Ralphie for the awesome tune up tutorial.
That is awesome!
Hay Josh, if your interested in rice burners! Try find a unmolested RX7. Derestrict it and you have a 180mph 0 to 60 in 4.2 seconds. All from a 1.3 engine. I regret getting rid of mine so much fun.😊
The PANIC on everyone's face when Marge drives is so funny....🤣😅😆
Thank you soooo much for the bonus video it's been a ruff day I need a healing touch!!!
Glad to help
looking good , that twenty footer .
Sleeperdude Jr. coming soon. Good job Ralphie!!!!
Subarus have “IMO” the best AWD systems!
I am pretty impressed with the Mazda MPV
Looked really fun😁 squeeze did so good👍 great video guys🙏💯
4:05 You got a Subaru! Nice! Forresters are decent cars. Looks to be about an early 2000s. Boxer engine is good too. Those things will last forever.
I drive a 2016 Crosstrek. Just hit 75k on mine today. But yeah. I have a friend who drove those older Subies for years.
Those car wash brushes work great at home, cleaning your shower, house windows, dusting walls.... They give you some real torque on shower walls and bath tubs without much effort, so feet on the floor scrubbing.
Love seeing the kids working right along or without parental supervision, Ralphie Rocks!
Hello again very nice to see you all today and will be there at around 4 PM 👍👍👍👍👍🤗
Thank you
Squeeze is coming around and it’s nice to see her interacting more.
And a little something for Wa to think about.....Subie 2.5 turbo will fit in that bug with a little help from Dad. Talk about passing the torch. She'd be known as Sleeper girl. Quickest VW in Tennessee.
👍👍👍😳🤣🤣
That engine swap is fantastic, it works great on VW bus's, alot of them in California.
The Ralphie service portion of the video was SOLID GOLD! Super enjoyable TV.
11:56 That could be the source of the old joke that when you buy a Subaru, you best make sure to buy the optional six-pack of spare engines with it.
🤣🤣
Excellent job Ralphie! I know a LOT of full fledged adults that couldn't do what you did.
the squeezle sass this episode had me rolling 🤣🤣
She’s a mess
Nice ride guys. Ralphy you go boy !!!!
THE BEST CAR YOU EVER BOUGHT
It's the best car I've ever owned, 128,000 and only changed tires, and 1 battery, still original spark plugs, 1 set of front disc brakes, you can't do that with anyother car period.
I love subaru foresters they are great cars you can't go wrong! They are easy to work on parts are affordable you can't beat them
Sqeezie is a natural-born Subaru girl.
Bonus sleeperdude and watching Ralphie shine! Great way to come home from a long monday!
The problem I've come across with them cars is the timing chains or a guide go bad and wipe the motor out. And Squeezy is Adorable ! She has the ability to fly around back there and never mess her hair up lol, You Guys are Awesome and I enjoy everything ya'll do.
🤣🤣thanks
What! Bonus video again. You guys are the best
Thanks so much!
OHMYGOSH JOSH!! MORE vehicles??? Can't watch just now...covered up with work today! Love y'all! me here at Thrif-T body & paint in Wyomin'
Ok buddy thanks
@@sleeperdude2690 My car is a 2000 Buick LeSabre with 124,000 mi...VERY nice condition, bulletproof drive train, a luxury boat that gives 30mpg!!!
@@sleeperdude2690 That Subaru is a good buy!
I love how you have all your kids driving way before they are old enough. We always done that in our family and I know it makes them better drivers when they grow up. Nice little ride Marge.
WaWa- looks like mom
Ralphie- looks like dad
Squeezey- looks like a combo of mom & dad
Nice work Ralphie!!
I half expect to see Mike and Ivan from Niko bros to show up. Hello Sleeperdude family
🤣🤣
I think the whole family loves it. Squeez did good when she figured it out. Ralphie did dang good on the wrenching and painting. Be a good driver for WaWa til she has a few miles under her belt
I just did some service on a Mazda 2013 cx 5, used wix oil filter, iridium plugs. The plugs go for 50k miles plus. It was a 2 L engine. 2K is a great value for sure...Nice score for Marge..
That’s a nice crossover SUV and a great buy. I can picture it hitched to the back of the Minnie Winnie on the next family trip.
7:36 I love Soobs! I had an 02 SAAB 92x a while ago. Pretty much a Soob Impresa, but SAAB exterior. Head gasket busted and busted my rad because of the plastic reservoirs. Really miss it. I would really love a mint Forester.
Boxer engine valve cover gaskets leak directly onto exhaust, so you'll know when(not if) they start leaking.
The road noise helps cover up the rattles. Great little cars, but they are not quiet inside.
Out of the UA-cam channels I watch you guys are the best, I like seeing the kids have such an interest in cars, looks like Squeegy is starting ti get into the cars. I really get bored when I don't see you guys
that 2nd gen forester is sweet! My parents had 2 of them (03 & 05) when i was a teenager - always loved the design. great interior and that all wheel drive is unstoppable. Bonus points for the big ass sunroof!
My Nephew has a smaller Subaru. He has done a bunch of aftermarket upgrades. It is turbocharged of course .runs pretty strong. Sounds like a pissed off Bumblebee though. It's great in the snow.
Ralphie is going places as he gets more and more experience. My dad done the same with me as a kid! Covid took him out back in 2020! RIP dad! Anyway as always great video family 👏👍
Awesome video good job Ralphie on the tune up😊
I love my GMC envoy getting in and out of parking space is a dream. Great job Ralph on all the hard work.
