Since there’s one or two things in the video that may irk some viewers, lemme say this- This channel is primarily about me getting drunk in the woods while hanging out with dogs, offroading, documenting the experience of going from content consumer to content creator, and making dumb commentary along the way. It’s not that deep. I was actually born in Albuquerque. I love New Mexico. And I love you. Unless you don’t use turn signals. (Then it’s debatable.)
That was an epic campsite you found the 2nd night! Beautiful sunrise! Great scenery all-alround. New Mexico is probably the most underrated state for overlanding and outdoor recreation in the West. Probably followed by Nevada and then Arizona. My early years of off-roading/camping are from the Southwest and I miss the public lands dearly! And yeah, it is a lot of work setting up the cameras and I also deal with the fear when I'm out alone (especially in remote areas). I often feel a lot of self-guilt for not having my family with me. I have found that talking to the camera helps ease that anxiety a bit. 😂 I'm sure having Sandy around helps to keep you company as well. Keep these coming! Your channel is taking off! It literally took me forever to hit 1000 subs and you're nearly there already! Cheers!🍻
@@MotoringAdventures_KE7SAI it’s so awesome to go out there to explore and just “find” a campsite. I’ve done that a few times over the years in New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah. We really miss that here in Texas. New Mexico is great because it just feels like there’s barely anybody out there. Even when it’s perfect weather there’s no issue finding great spots. I’ve got a couple more videos filmed. I’m just pacing myself a bit on editing and releasing them.
@@RamCruiserOverland That's a smart way to do it. Take a longer trip and split it into several videos. And that "finding" is what I miss the most; not need reservations to camp somewhere. I got some of that vibe when I camped in East Texas a few weeks ago in the national forests. I did that whole trip on a last-minute whim. They may not be as remote as the forests of the West, but you did feel more off the grid and more "free" to choose your own path.
Good video! I'm wanting to head out to NM for some exploring from East Texas, where we don't have HEB.. I enjoy your content, and it's nice seeing another TX fullsize overlanding. Also, I enjoyed that BFM video too.
My company sent me to New Mexico for work. When I landed I lucked out and got a 4x4 F150 rental. Let’s just say I didn’t work OT on weekends like they wanted me to. Enjoyed the video. My wife and I camp just about every weekend in Texas “we’re from Houston” and I’d like to start getting into the Vlog thing but man it looks like a lot of work.
@@brandonmorrison-q3b vlogging is lots of fun and i’m enjoying learning the editing process etc. But I definitely move a lot slower on the trail when I’m trying to record the trip. There’s a LOT of footage that doesn’t make it into the final video.

What do you mean I-40 doesn't have anything we have a buc-ee's in Amarillo now. Although although unfortunately for you it was still not open yet when you went through 😂
@@That_Paul_Guy i have been starting to use it more for filming driving shots. But it has a few limitations- setting it up, battery life, doesn’t capture audio, and it’s hard to pilot and drive. A lot of my drone footage of the truck is with it on active tracking. I’m trying to get away from overdoing that, but it’s easy to let it follow me for a few minutes and get a nice 10 second clip somewhere in there. I know a lot of the big name overlanding channels are using mostly drone footage, and it looks great. I’ve also watched some of their filming equipment vids, and let’s just say they have a bigger budget and more badass drones than me at the moment 😆 In the meantime I just keep my primary camera on the passenger seat and throw it down when I get inspired. And I could use the exercise!
I camped in some random section Cibola national forest first week of October 2024 and I've wanted to go back and explore the region in depth. I was en route to the Front Range on a time crunch so I was unable to do this then, hopefully in 25.
@@curtshelp6170 I’ve been camping in NM a few times but that was my first time exploring Cibola. Not as many trails as some of the other forests, but that’s what’s great about the state. There’s so much to check out!

@@RamCruiserOverland Yea, Texans love NM because Texas doesn't have any public land. They're all over the damn place.
