What a beautiful canal the lanky is. Mind you some of the boaters look like they’re more used to towing a water skier. That really looked like a hairy moment. Great filming as always by Chappy.
Well done another fantastic video full of tips .and shows there is more to fishing than commercials.. James and Alan well done. The cadence tackle is great A massive 👍👍
Hi James, Alan. Yet another excellent video. Chappy's camera work is well up to his very high standards and it is a great pleasure to watch. Cadence have set a very high standard with its video's and in my opinion they are the best on UA-cam. Keep up the stunning content, tight lines.
Hi so good to see you back fishing again and hope to see plenty more of you on the bank. Hopefully there will be a fishing show this autumn and we can catch up Bill
The videos of Alan fishing some of my local venues have been a real highlight of this channel. I'd love to see him tackling the River Crossens near Southport. It seems like the sort of venue that he would enjoy fishing.
Thank you Alan, James and Chappy for yet another fascinating and informative video. Going to try a few on the tips when I fish my local stretch of the Birmingham Worcester canal next week. Oh and of course the fabulous cameo appearance from Monty in the opening scene!
Enjoyable, as usual. Our local canal still recognises closed season. but I'm hoping to be in a new car soon, ( my 21 yr old Focus died on the way home from a good days fishing), by that time it could well be 2021. between a rock and a hard place. Do I save for some new wheels? Or save far a CR10 first. Tough choice eh? Oh well, tight lines Jamie.
Really enjoyed that thank you , James I know you fish the grand Union around the Warwick area but have you tried it around offchurch , bascote and Stockton it's full of small fish loads of roach Rudd and skimmers
Im totally new to fishing, Infact i dont even have a pole or rod yet lol Was going to begin fishing on my local canal. No chance if there is a chance im gunna catch a bloody eel! haha
Find one of my best experiences catching bream on the Grand Union Canal at Marsworth. It was a club match and we had a walk off drawer I wanted to get into a noted swim they called the animal House I drew third or fourth and one of the best Anglers in the club thought he had sat in the Peg that I wanted. There was a big willow tree in between the two pegs ,he sat to the right and I knew that he's sat in the wrong place .The real swim was to the left of the Willow I sat down in this Pegg and he asked me of all the canal why do you have to sit next to me thinking that I didn't know what he was up to. I said to him you've got it wrong Tony you're in the wrong spot mate he said to me what am I talking about I said the animal house you know .With this he got up and marched off down the canal said I'm going to fish when there's nobody around me. To my great satisfaction I won the match by fishing chopped worm and caster at the bottom of the far slope which was about 4 1/2 5-ft deep I had a technique of catching these one-and-a-half 2 bream by having quite a heavy elastic a number 8 through 3 sections quite loose when I hooked the fish I was immediately throwing the pole behind me on the roller literally with the pole being thrown back this just immediately made the fish move out the swim without spooking the rest of the shoaI. To my great satisfaction I won the match hands down I think it was 48 pounds of bream in 4 hours and also a few bonus Cup making 56lb in total, which were at the top of the far shelf which I caught with a bomb and a 6mm pellet it was absolutely great when the weigh-in came he was a Club secretary Tony and he would not even come and see me get weighed in we all had a laugh about it later in the pub though. great times never forget it
James - any tips for fishing the Grand Union near Northampton? I've signed up for the National Championship and wont be able to get much practice in, so any tips greatly appreciated.
I'm sure these 2 are great anglers and their methods are clearly effective but I'm afraid this style isn't for me. I just couldn't be bothered shoving that pole backwards and forwards. And as an angler who also loves walking and cycling the towpaths, I'd find it very irritating to keep having to negotiate these obstacles. Give me a rod and reel any day - may not be as effective in these situations, but I'll take that. Also, why put an endangered species like an eel in a keepnet?

Thanks James, Alan - nice video, its good to see that fishing isn't always a bag up day. Mind you I would not complain with canal bream like those..
Always lessons to be learnt 👍

Well Alan you've some lovely water over there, but I think it was the fact that Monty wasn't there, that it Jinxed your day, 👍👍

Good work, the canal is an underrated place to fish, I'm looking forward to more sessions on my local Pocklington canal
Another great vid James with some excellent discussion.
As a Dog fanatic and trainer it would be great to see your Monty again Dad. Plus, your luck will be better. :-)
Great video gents

Nice!! Any perch!

Great video as always, I thoroughly enjoyed it! Could do with some anti-speeding measures for the boats it seems...

British waters!!! Best!!
A shame it was bright sunshine as it definitely kills it at present.
nice 2 see bream on the cut rather than commercial carp waters that are all about money n laying down pathetic rules
Signets
Bream are ok but sluggish!
