Absolutely hilarious! Thanks for reacting to this. Harry Enfield performs many characters including his ‘American Tourist in London’ selection. Try them next perhaps. Best wishes to you both 👍
Harry Enfield is a gem. These clips play on the stereotype of the Afrikaaners are very blunt and to the point - a trait inherited from the Dutch. Harry Enfield "Homophobic Dad" is another good one. Actually there are so many as he did many series on BBC over the years playing many different characters..
Do you remember the NOT THE NINE OCLOCK NEWS Sketch , ‘ I’ve never met a nice South African ‘ and that’s not bloody surprising , that will make the sketch even funnier
Harry Enfield is comedy gold. I would head for this one too, women know your limits and so many others. American tourists in London. Kevin and Perry. The old Gits.
Funniest thing I ever heard in the queue at checkout..The lady in front quietly said to the server, "Have you anymore Tampax Large, as none on the shelf" The server rang the bell, and a young man came over, the server told him to get some Large Tampax out of storage...rather long wait, and he came back empty handed "Did you mean the ones that you press in with your thumb, or the ones you hammer in?"
Check out Harry Enfield & Paul Whighthouse, not every sketch is a killer but all are well written and performed, i'd suggest The Fast Show but you really need to know the different characters to get the full benefit, though there is one sketch they did with Jonny Depp, he loved their work and asked if it would be possible to have a cameo in one, he plays the part perfectly, well worth a look.
I know that you guys get this but the difference between yourselves and most ordinary Brits is that on hearing this for the first time, we would likely burst out laughing at both the pharmacist's lack of decorum and the embarrassment of the customers, whereas i guess most Americans would be shocked at the former and horrified at the latter.
Without trying to "stereotype" every single South African male who came to the UK in the last 30 years, the ones I have met so far are all straight talking, no nonsense individuals who get right to the point. ie, not very British! I love this sketch and was chuckling away to myself in the pharmacy this morning when I had to wait a few minutes for my monthly prescription.
That’s what I love about British humour. We find hilarity in all subjects, from the sublime to the ridiculous. It’s all fair game. Keep clam and keep taking the piss 😂😂😂😂

Kevin & Perry Go Large - A movie from 2000 written by Harry Enfield and Dave Cummings and starring Harry Enfield and Kathy Burke. It's a great spin off from his Kevin and Perry sketch from his shows. You should watch it and do a reaction to that.
A short while ago the UK govt was pursuing a policy to get people to go to Pharmacies instead of Doctors for basic things to free up appointments in GP Surgeries.. Obviously people are not too keen on that
If this your first time watching Harry Enfield Then You are in for a treat / or bumpy ride watching British humour. as other commenters have mentioned try watching “ women know your rights”.It may just have the perfect cringe factor for you both. I loved your reactions and now know you will have to seek out more ! All the very best to you and yours. Rab
Harry Enfield is pretty much the GOAT of British sketch comedy, "women know your limits", American tourist in London", "Homophobic Dad" just to name few.....fill your boots
What separates British humor is that it is often as ridiculous and absurd as it is funny. There are no boundaries. You have then got something like The Office which can be quite an uncomfortable watch because unlike the American version it is not played for laughs. Brits don't do gags. They do situations that often make you squirm. Much of Monty Python's stuff was utterly surreal. Nobody else produces stuff like that.
The character that Enfield is playing is supposed to be Afrikaans there is a perception that they are very blunt and far from discreet so he is exaggerating this perception , I don't say it's a correct perception however I have definitely met a few that lack sensitivity. To be fair it's such an aggressive sounding accent that even mild mannered Afrikaans can sound aggressive . Harry Enfield produced so many funny characters and sketches back in the day.
If you're looking for more Harry Enfield sketches, find some 'Kevin & Perry'. ua-cam.com/video/dLuEY6jN6gY/v-deo.html They were so successful, a film was made 'Kevin & Perry Go Large'.
This is as funny as f`k. But our Pharmacists don`t act like this ( whose would ? ). First, I must say it is true that I find many Pharmacists ( Pharmacological Chemists ) speaking Spanish - or another European Language - as their first language over here in the North of England, at least. But none of them would be allowed to get away with being so rude to their assistants !
Harry Enfield was a hugely prolific and successful sketch writer and actor, there's plenty of material to mine. Another commenter has posted four links to some of his most popuiar clips to react to. Have fun!
This would have been made in the 80s or the turn of the 90s, when South Africa still had the racist apartheid regime and was widely unpopular around the world. This may be why he does the accent.
It's more that Afrikaans have a reputation for being very, very direct and blunt. Nothing is sugar coated. Diplomacy and discretion are in short supply hence the irony of him being in a role that requires both.
Another good reaction to a sometimes cringeworthy collection of sketches 😂. You might like to have a look at a clip from the Monty Python film A Life of Brian, set in the years of Jesus and has the Roman army in Jerusalem. The clip is known as Biggus Dickus, and the ruling Roman has a problem with saying the letter R, which is a source for fun with the oppressed citizens. ua-cam.com/video/HrcbCW4y9Dw/v-deo.htmlsi=74coeuSeyeVptozJ
Enfield is playing an Afrikaner (I just call them `Dutchmen`, but thats just my prejudice). This would have been recorded sometime soon after the fall of Apartheid. A lot of them left S Africa because they did not hold out much hope for the future. The bulk of the apartheid era racists including the politicians were the ultra conservative Dutchmen. Many who left, or stayed remained racists, but pretended they were not as it was convenient, but every once in a while they would give themselves away. When Harry Enfield, the pharmacist shouts "Mina"! sharply at his assistant this is exactly what is going on. This is precisely how they would address an employee during apartheid in order to assert their superiority. In this case the pharmacist has not broken the habit. A bit obscure but that is what is going on here.
Hi, I like watching you guys reactions, but why is the sound dipping when you laugh or comment, it really spoils it. Noticed it on some of you other reactions.
Please do more Harry Enfield!! The American tourists is a must!! I still ache from laughing whenever I watch them!!
Absolutely hilarious! Thanks for reacting to this. Harry Enfield performs many characters including his ‘American Tourist in London’ selection. Try them next perhaps. Best wishes to you both 👍

A short while ago the UK govt was pursuing a policy to get people to go to Pharmacies instead of Doctors for basic things to free up appointments in GP Surgeries.. Obviously people are not too keen on that
Harry Enfield was the gem of 90s humour, prior to all the latest overly sensitive woke crap.
Do you remember Bottom with Rik Mayall? You won't get comedy like that again.
If this your first time watching Harry Enfield Then You are in for a treat / or bumpy ride watching British humour. as other commenters have mentioned try watching “ women know your rights”.It may just have the perfect cringe factor for you both.
