Wow this seems like a extremely good budget module
Picked this up today 😮❤
Good weather so I'll add to cart.
Great review. I have recently ordered one, so this was very useful. Thank you.
Thank you very much, this was a great demo.
I love this little thang!
Nice module. Like a whole unique synth voice. Good weather out indeed!
+Sysex|Studio yes! The features seem pretty normal at first sight, but they go well together in a quirky drony way :)
Fun that Eowave are going DIY, and nice demo as always :). We didn't have good weather in Sweden today.
Inte idag heller
@@Koettnylle Inte ens idag
Great weather! I have one on the way...
Awesome! Enjoy :)
Thanks for the video/info on the Weather Drones, it would have completely passed me by otherwise. The pull of DIY eurorack is now too strong - I have one coming next week (good weather)
+jon whitty good to hear! Thanks :) hope you enjoy the modular synth DIY world :)
I have now reached this point as well. Here goes nothing!
Graet waether.
Another excellent tutorial! The urge to start building DIY modules gets stronger and stronger! Only question: are there any good tutorials explaining slew? I can't wrap my head around it...
Yeah, this one especially is a really good deal in my opinion. Affordable, easy to build yet giving something really unique to play with. Slew really just smoothes changes in incoming values. So if you picture a square wave with sharp corners, slew will round those corners. The more slew you apply the rounder everything gets until you basically get not change anymore.
Sounds great is it possible to use as a stand alone sound machine ?
Thanks
Absolutely :) Here's an example of just the Weather Drone through a spring reverb: ua-cam.com/video/HR-01uVu2Vk/v-deo.html
@@tuesdaynightmachines that’s fantastic I need the module a case and power then out of the output into old tape echo or spring reverb maybe a ring modulator
Just want it as a stand alone found machine
I have a swarm and it’s fantastic 🪐👍
Any recommends for a small case and power ?
Loving your channel 👍🪐👌
A Doepfer Mini Case (32hp, 200mA power) is probably the cheapest case, that you can probably also get second hand. A bit "nicer" are the 4ms POD cases (e.g. POD 34X powered).
@@tuesdaynightmachines thanks that’s fantastic 👍🪐
hey, your video convinced me to get the weather drones a couple of days ago but im slightly confused.
maybe its a editing-thing but in minute 2:44 you explained the vca and used the direct out from the vco.
in my drones ( rev 1.5 ) the vca only effects the master out.
maybe you know why. best wishes and thanks
Strange. It's surely not an editing thing. Maybe they did indeed change something in newer versions? Don't remember which version I got back then, but I think it was close to the module's initial release, so definitely an early version.
@@tuesdaynightmachines hmm. Strange - because it makes absolutely sense to me to apply the vca to the main output… I learned - 1.0 is the diy, 1.5 is the presoldered version. No further information. But against - great work:)
I just bought one recently too, and mine works the same as yours, the VCA only affects the master out.
@@videotrexx thanks for letting us know
Is it me or does it sound very noisy? Even when turning the small pots it seems to crackle like an old vynil record?
The digital oscillator section definitely has such a dirty character to it :)
Would this be a bad first diy module? Last time I soldered was 4 years ago. But as there’s 0 assembled modules online, seems to be my only option
I think it would be alright for a beginner. No complicated parts or work steps as far as I remember. Just take it slow and concentrate and it will be fine. Generally, I find soldering/kit building very easy when you have the proper time and place for DIY. It’s all about keeping distractions away :)
Audio input is mono or stereo ?
hello, it's mono
