They've worked on and off with a few notable names in the business, and you can see it paying off with the progress they have made. Lots of improvement. I did notice a few bugs, but hopefully they get them worked out in the near future.
Not unless you're the one who made the model - the model files are encrypted into a bespoke file format (.GeoPcDx) that can't really be opened outside the sim. I'll admit, I've tried and failed to grab anything useful. I've used NinjaRipper and managed to get the models, but the issues are: A) it grabs the whole scene, so track models, grass, buildings, etc. You can make a quick scene with nothing but a strip of track, but it still grabs more than it needs to and the meshes will need to be removed from the exported scene. B). The shapes are skewed. They always have a bias to one side and are more trapezoidal than square, and it is very noticeable. C). They come out mirrored! If you rip the model of an American locomotive, and the control stand should be on the right hand side of the cab, it comes out totally flipped. If anyone has any fixes for any of these issues and would like to chime in, I'm totally down to listen... I don't want to use them for anything nefarious, I just wanted to use them for my own personal use in Garry's Mod using the Prop2Mesh tool...
@@PowerTrain611 Thanks for the detailed response - I build steam locomotives as well - mine are nicely detailed at like 50K polys - but pale in comparison to these fine models - looking at the detail - they must be well over 100K. I actually ordered the Model Railroader with the plans for this same loco - been on my backburner for years.
@@DIRTYdeeds613 I'm not great at making models with blender - but as I stated I have a tendency to borrow models from other sources (Like Minecraft's Immersive Railroading mod) for personal use in Garry's Mod. That's how I discovered the joys of DTG's bespoke file structure. It's a mess... But as such, I do have a profound respect for people who model crazy detailed models like these. My time spent in blender looking at other people's models makes me wish I had the level of patience required to create such a masterpiece. I have a collection of locomotive blueprints and documentation which I use to build working locomotives in Gmod, but I really need to start using them with blender...
I’ve already got two scenarios built but unfortunately I can’t publish to Workshop because the “blueprint” is not recognized. On a side note, how does one get the caboose interior to work with this a particular model? Hitting the 5 key only allowed me to do the usual front and back platform view.
So I consider myself to not be a foamer, but instead a massive nut for WM steam since I grew up near Cumberland in the 90s so I grew up with 734 and the WMSR. Wasn't super thrilled with the H9 to be honest. Inaccurate modeling such as the headlights and piping just disappearing, inaccurate sounds despite multiple recordings and schematics I sent over. H9 Id give em a 6/10. The I2 however, their modeling has vastly improved, the cab looks pretty accurate to photos I have of the I2s cab. Sounds, bell doesn't 100% sound right but its fine as is since its not a super fast ringing. The whistle, while also no being 100% accurate and considering the multiple recordings of WMSR 734 wearing I2 1114's whistle in the 90s but, the one it does have isn't bad and fits pretty well. All in all, in my opinion, Id give the WM I2 a 9/10. Great vid as per usual Schnauzah. Time for me to get back to my Railroader I2 lmao.
Why are American steam trains always all black, not even any logos or anything to break it up... if something is crying out for some graffiti along the rails its these 🙂
Because Black is class, and our boilers run a lot hotter and at higher pressures, these things ran more miles, more tonnage than anything in the world, maintence was already time consuming and then you add the very expensive high heat resistant paints and then you have your answer. Black was cheap and classy.
Enter key quills the whistle
@@Kanawha epic revelation
Wasn't in the manual when i looked...
I always love the sidecam where its placed by the running drivers, glad to see there is more of it
Machine Rail's progress since the H9 is clearly visible.
great video
could you possibly cover the promontory route in tsc?
It would be nice to have these in railroader too😂
Plague Doctor is actually making the I2 for Railroader. It'll be a while tho, cuz his main focus is remaking the H9.

I’m curious. What changed? Who are these notable members?
NICE - as a Blender Modeler for a different sim - is there a way you guys can see a poly count for the locomotive - just curious.

Now if only DTM and the rest of the typical group would up their game... I guess that's asking for a bit to much however.
Yeah, their hr is at the 10th floor

Thank you for review. What route did you use for your review please?

9:00 The ribs are correct. Idk who said they didn't look right, but whoever said the ribs were flat was looking at the wrong hopper or needs glasses.

Man - if only they would make the logo paint more realistic.
Psst....It's RED-ing, like the color.
