Nice job Dave. You just washed that out a few days ago. Good job in convincing the customer on the change-out. Tell the customer your viewers compliment him/her on making the decision to change it out as well.

David...it is so satisfying to know there are techs out there going the extra mile for their customers...techs like you are far and few between...after being in business for 47 years...it was about the customer not...how much money I put in my pocket...I made a very good living with a large customer base...keep it up brother!

I was always told those “quick connects” were 1 time use. Good to know you can remove and re-attach them without leaks.

I put those on new back in 2015, I would not recommend reusing them, keep doing it the way your doing it.

I was going to ask if there was something to stop the corrosion on the coil, but you6 already ahead of me. That's a good tip. I doubt I'll need it here in Michigan, but you never know.

I've watched this channel for the last 3-4 years i think so what's another 5 years haha. I used cal shield on a lot of coils and it seems to work decent.

good old galvanic corrosion, with aluminum being the weak susceptible metal in the mix, add in some salty ocean water and you have a perfect rapid oxidization, with shortened life span disaster :)
copper finned coils come to mind for those locations, that's what pool heaters and other direct fired high efficiency heat exchanger are made out of, of course nothing will hold up 100% when there corrosive gasses or liquids, in pools you get chloramine gas build up down low on the deck which eats the equipment outside and inside.

Hey Dave, you think copper fins would last a lil longer than aluminum fins do? Wonder what the price diffrence vs the elapsed time of deterioration from the salt would make it worth while...i know they have the blue coated fins now but....

Dog pee will take a condenser coil down in no time. Salad dressing will take a cooler Evap coil down. I don’t Live near the coast so I have never seen sea salt damage in person.

  • @kingofthecrease30

now you have to start using viper coil cleaner...NSF approved for food processing areas...cleans condensers & evap coils with no rinse...its good stuff 👍

Hello Dave, why the walk in cooler has a suction pressure of 50Psi and a walk in freezer has 30 Psi suction? How is the 20 Psi difference obtained? Is it the TXV calibration or the compressor being a LBP type? And why cant we use Medium temp compressor for low temp applications?

You should rinse and wash away the dirt under and around the coil on the floor before restarting the ice machine cause it will suck back all the dirt

Dave, when you change from R-22 to 404A what are your thoughts on flushing the line set? I haven’t flushed either and have had some guys scoff at me. I purge it well with nitrogen and have not had any issues.

    • @shadowbanned69

No...coating the coil prevents the salty air from deteriorating the coil...they only last around a few years because of the salt on the coast of cali!!!

@@shadowbanned69 thank you, I have meat plant where many evaporator coils are corroded due to chemical used , what you think is best method to protect the coil ?

    • @shadowbanned69
      @shadowbanned69 4 роки тому +2

@@mikefreedom5612 they make coils now with a special coating to inhibit deterioration...its alot more expensive...but cost benefit analysis says it will even out over time. Also like Dave did...there are sprays that they make to slow down the process but for how long and how many coatings is up to your maintaining it. Usually condiments and acidic products eat the fins in walk in fridges
So there are steps that help...

I trust brazes I make blindfolded from 6 feet away after a bottle of tequila and a half oz of shrooms before I ever trust a quick connect 😩😩
