  • Today's video we are re-visiting the Bluetti product line to test the performance of the AC300 with 2 B300 LiFePo batter modules. While I was given the units to test, Bluetti did not say how to test them, and most comments I receive say that the systems are great during the day, but run out of power at night so I wanted to see if these would challenge that assumption. I do apologize for some of my sleepy appearance, it's been a very busy 2 weeks. Again a huge thank you to All Star Storage and the crew there for the constant help and support!!

I gotta say, this video has been the most informative description of what this system can do. I love your real-life tests and applications, especially overnight. The only test I wish you would have done was a, "what can't this do" test where you try to kill it with too much draw over day and night.

Thanks, James! I find these devices (systems?) So Revolutionary! Imagine just 10 years ago this wasn't even feasible for RV'ers. Also, thanks for going over the applicable uses. I'm sad that I'm not a candidate for this system since I have a DP, but look how far we've already come! I watched to learn and know that soon they'll have a system that is able to integrate with our rig.
Agree bluetooth needs to be the standard communication channel! Expecting Wi-fi to be available when their target market is off-grid folks is asinine.
I appreciate your time spent on this review!

Thank you for your insightful comment! It's truly amazing how far technology has come in just a decade. The Segway Portable PowerStation Cube Series sounds like an incredible addition to any RV or off-grid setup. With its massive capacity, fast recharging, and versatile sockets, it's definitely a game-changer. And I absolutely agree, Bluetooth should be the standard communication channel! Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and I hope you can find a system that integrates with your rig soon.

Thank you so much for the tremendous time and effort that you put into this test. This is exactly the test I was looking for, before making my decision to purchase the Bluetti system you test here. Continuous Air conditioning is my main concern, along with food storage, then juice for technology for work and entertainment...all while living totally off grid in a 16' box truck. I'll be utilizing a mini split, which I hope would be more power efficient than that window unit. Thank you again for creating and posting this fantastic video. I enjoy you and your style very much...never any wasted words, every sentence was useful and entertaining in some capacity, yet you're in no way robotic or dull. In fact, you're very personable. Liked and subscribed :)

    • @AZExpert
      @AZExpert  11 місяців тому

That is incredibly kind of you to say. Mini splits should be much more energy kind for sure. I think the biggest key to the system working is having as much solar as possible so the batteries stay charged during the day and then of course managing the energy on rainy days, which should hopefully be much cooler anyway.

@@AZExpert Oh, You are most welcome! I meant that sincerely, too, when THANKING YOU. If you only knew how many hours and years I spend researching all my interests on youtube and on all sorts of social and other media type sites. Some hosts, such as yourself, are naturals at presenting good information in an interesting and captivating way. Others...not so much,. Even though they may have some good information to impart, sitting through their youtube presentation may still not always be worth it; and I'm being kind, leaving it at just that. Anyway, that's what I was able to take away from your video....get as much solar as possible for the batteries to stay charged, and, as you say, managing the variables...like sun exposure and unexpected need for more power, etc. I forwarded this video to a friend and his comment was that your video hit the nail on the head. But, he was saying to go with the ACA500. I checked the price for that and a couple of B300S's, and that is a big price difference. I guess I'm wondering if living in a 16' Customized box truck I would even need the 50Amp capacity that the AC500 offers, or is 30 amps totally enough? Any thoughts in that regard?

I use to drive dealer trades and I can understand that tired feeling. That is a really awesome set up for many applications. You sure go the extra step to test things, bluetti should thank you, I could see many situations that the device would take care of power needs. That storage building is also really nice that would be excellent for a off grid even as a "cabin" for an off grid RV parking rest stop, hunting, construction, etc. Stay safe and healthy and hope your drive is fun.

Best hint I can give is to get your solar panels used and save a fortune. Santan Solar was the best I found. Now I run my tv, refrigerator, induction cook top, Kuerig, fans and phones from the chargers for free. Keep up the good work!

One of the best honest reviews I've seen. Most of the other UA-cam people are being paid to tell you this Power Station is the best thing since sliced bread! They are pretty neat but out of my price range. I guess if you are off-grid it's really cheap. I personally use a component system; that way if something pukes like an MPPT or an inverter I can switch it out in a day or so, whereas a complete unit would have to get shipped back to who knows where to be repaired.

I also live in AJ up towards the Superstitions. We have a lot of very old above ground grid power infrastructure out this way and live with significant power outages every monsoon season.
This setup is very similar to what I have done, just with the AC200Max and B200 batteries.. I just need it to run my refrigerator, freezer, and a window AC to get me through sometimes up to 24 hours without power. I have a fairly low use Yamaha gas generator that i was relying on but during the last outage it cut out at 1:30am and would not restart. Found the problem a few days later, a stuck valve which was easy to fix, but i cant trust it. So Bluetti is my new solution with the generator as the backup. The added bonus is before I was not able to leave during the outage so I could monitor the generator. With the Bluetti its no longer pinning me down.

I got the AC500 system with 2 batteries when it came out. I moved it into one of the bays in our ClassA. All I did to integrate it was run a 30 amp cable to the bay where the power cord is. I installed a 30 amp receptical there. When we are traveling or off grid, we plug the RV into the 30 amp outlet that I installed. It runs both AC units just fine without soft start. Together with the 900 watt of solar on the roof, we make it through the day easily.

If you happen to have an older 1969 early 70's RV with an Onan gas generator to use to test the charging ability of the bluetti AC300.
And you have the time to check and see if it will charge your unit.
Please let us know how you set it up so that it would work with that generator to charge the Bluetti AC300.
Some of us do not have as much solar and sun as we would like to have and have.
So we need to use our gas generators as a backup for the AC300.

For clarification while the gas generator is running I can use my air conditioner and whatever extra power it produces to charge the AC300 using one of the 15 or 20 amp circuits in the RV, that are powered by the Onan generator.
So I would be powering my air conditioning unit on one circuit and charging the AC 300 on another circuit while the gas generator is running.

Your Bluetti might be able to start your AC unit when it's new but after a few cycles, typically less than a year, you'll turn your solar generator into a brick. The reason for this is that these units all use high frequency, transformerless inverter technology that is not designed to repeatedly start inductive loads, especially when powering high inductance loads like full sized refrigerators, large power tools, portable AC units or large microwave ovens.
The reason for this is that all these high frequency inverters lack a very critical component. That critical component is an iron core, copper wound output transformer. Without an output transformer to act as a buffer to absorb electrical surges provided by the “Flywheel Effect” inherent in the physical amount of a transformer’s iron, these surges and damaging reverse voltage spikes must be handled directly by the inverter’s MOSFET transistors, essential shortening their life.
High frequency solar generators run much hotter than low frequency, transformer-based solar generators which makes the low cost, off spec, Chinese made components such as capacitors, diodes, resistors and ICs that are used in the cheap inverters that are used in these solar generators, far more prone to early failure.
Another major consideration with these high frequency, transformerless solar generators is safety. All it takes is for one of their MOSFETs in the inverter's H-Bridge circuit to short to ground or the waveform control circuitry to fail, and these units will can dangerous, high voltage, high amperage DC current straight to your connected AC loads which will not only damage most AC appliances but can also set those AC appliances on fire.
Another consideration that is never mentioned by those youtube, solar generator hucksters, is that the vast majority of these solar generators are non-repairable. After the warranty runs out, you're not going to be able to ship these units back to the manufacturer in China and have them repair them. And at a typical shop rate of $125 per hour here in the US, with no schematic and limited parts availability, it won't makes economic sense to even attempt to repair one of these units. Once the FETs have fried and have burned a good portion of the inverter's PCB, (And trust me, sooner rather than later, they will fry.) they basically become a brick.
A far better alternative is to invest less money and purchase a hybrid, low frequency, transformer based inverter charger and an LFP battery and build your own real solar generator. Low frequency transformer based solar generators last many years longer than these toy high frequency solar generators, and can easily power high surge loads without being damaged and without damaging your appliances. That's why the big name brand inverter manufacturers like Schneider Electric, Outback Power, Sigineer, Magnum Energy, Victron and others, all use a low frequency topology in their offerings.
I know this to be true because I've spent the last 23 years repairing inverters. High frequency solar generators/inverters simply don't last when powering inductive loads and can set your appliances, van, EV and even your home on fire.

Thank you for the very thoughtful insight. RV A/C's are really among the worst designs but it's the most common question I get in the RV world

Was looking to get another two (2) LifePo4 300 amp batteries. The BLUETTI is a little more $$$. But may be worth it. Only thing is getting a large enough solar array to charge it that is portable.

An eg4 all in one and a 5kw battery and all the things you need to wire costs about $3500 and can be wired in line to your 30amp shore power will run your rv and is capable of 5000w of solar. This solution is good if you don't want to think about it, but with 10kw of power you'd be right around the same price

Hi!! First I'd like to say that you have an excellent channel. Priceless information that is very well narrated. Great humor too!! Excellent character. But! I have one concern. Bro, Stop grabbing the toilets with your bare hands, makes me squirm!! Leave people's dirty toilets alone,no one needs to see the inside!! Lol. Keep up the awesome work you do! Bless !!

Thanks for the information. It's amazing how far these systems have come. I think a lot of the tiny home folks might look at this system for long term usage. even though gas is cheaper here in Texas we know it's going to go up in price until we start producing oil and gas like the previous administration. If the current administration stays in power we will need to do something like this to survive their green new deal since they are saying electricity prices will naturally need to go higher.
You do a great job on these videos! they are appreciated!!

Oh, You are most welcome!
