They are releasing an update tomorrow adding a countdown timer for the still camera.... I asked customer service if the drone has that feature, they said no... Then they contacted me two days later and said, because you brought this up, we will be incorporating this into our next update.. So that's pretty neat that the company is adding a feature for everyone just because I asked about it haha. You're all welcome I guess lll

Infact looking at this little guy he did very much well. The only issues they have is the horizon tilt and the tracking mode. The camera out put is excellent. They look alike to fimi X8 mini the difference is the fly app.

Saved up for a rainy day video! I love the Idaho Quadcopter Time Machine. Somehow I don't think the Atom is gonna get to 88 mph! It does a lot for the money, but Potensic would do well to get the basics down. Signal. Horizon. You know... the IMPORTANT stuff!

Hi Marcus! I am new at the drone world.. Have flown cheap drones in the past and I picked up a few good ones (cfly mini for $149 and Fimi x8 v2 for $249) for me and my kids for Christmas. Your detailed reviews are fantastic. While I am very cautious and will be checking FAA... there are a lot of problems with geofencing from the DJI drone in my area. Now you have me considering a return on the Fimi for the Atom. A comparison of the 2 at this similar price range would be fantastic! Thanks again!
If Geo Fencing is an issue, I'd look at the Autel Nano. It is a great drone!

The Atom has a nice selection of quickshots modes, and they seem to work fairly well. But I wish they would focus more on the basics, such as better signal, more dependable connection and maintaining a strait horizon. Once all those things work 99% of the time, than turn your focus to the advanced features. Great demo and tutorial, thanks for sharing.

As of Feb 24 I believe there is an update for exactly those points gentlemen 😊
Waypoints is the most interesting feature to me. This seems to be the new budget drone of choice - “humble-looking” camera notwithstanding 😉. They also seem to be getting firmware updates out in a very regular basis as well. One might even say frequent.
Yes, I know waypoints are a must have feature for many!
Potensic have the potential to be a player in the hobby grade if they improve on this model, it's not that bad. 👍

Get the mini 2se the atom is getting better but it’s not DJI quality just yet.

For my money the Mini 2SE is what I'd choose. I applaud Potentic's effort with the Atom. It's just not quite where it needs to be yet.
The problem with DJI is they can't put their app on the Google Play store because it doesn't pass their security requirements. It has encrypted code that Google can't test. This is a huge red flag. They have had plenty of time to fix the issues but they refuse. I would not buy a DJI drone because of that.
@@W_T.Fthat is the exact reason I did not buy DJI and bought the ATOM. DJI has been flagged by the US for posing national security concerns. No law enforcement or federal agencies or US military branch are allowed to use DJI drones. Tons of articles and stuff on it you can find by doing a quick Google search
Since the drone doesn’t allow the app to manipulate high res video, what pc software do you use to make cool videos?
Final Cut Pro is a good one. DaVinci is a good choice too.

Did you know that you can move yourself while making all the features? The drone will still do a spiral for example and follow you. Don't remember if it works on all features...

If i want to use these modes when I’m on top of a 3000ft mountain, what settings do i need to change? Altitude, etc? i just got this drone recently and am taking it hiking.

You shouldn't need to change anything. Make sure you RTH altirude is set high enough to get over any obstacles in the path of the drone.

You should be able to fly without it.
Does this have remote ID or need to register with the FAA? I just bought one
No, it's sub-250g.
@IdahoQuadcopter The language on the FAAs website makes it sound like all drones need Remote ID and registration with the FAA
Sub 250g or .55lbs do not need RID unless operated commercially.
@@IdahoQuadcopter Do need Section 107 or any remote ID or registration if operating in restricted airspace where you request a clearance from the FAA?
Registered or not you must comply with all FAA drone regs including flying in controlled airspace. Use LAANC to get air space approval. @@asdaven1
It's a great little bird, unfortunately it's so good it will be compared to dji products, and it's not comparable for a lot of reasons, however it's a winner in its class none the less
It's in the bagain class for sure. I agree it's a natural comparison with the Mini 2 SE.
Well from a guy who does not fly DJI when you do a side-by-side comparison of the SE the potential atom actually has better features specs

It still is a long way way to go. The tracking on that drone like most features have a lot to be desired. The colors are not accurate. I still can’t believe that anyone would compare this drone to any DJI. Drone. Even the mini2 se at 2.7 K has much better videos and pictures. Can’t believe they don’t offer ND filters or accessories of any kind, what a shame .
I love people who make the comment "the colours are not accurate" and yet the video presented no comparison footage from other devices and you certainly did not visually in person see the actual colours on that day to make that assumption....

I have watched 10 or 12 reviews on this drone, side-by-side with many other drones, including DJI ,holy stone The video quality and picture quality that drone puts out.Is five year old technology being repeated.

The drone's performance is somewhat off that of the market leader in several respects but it's not a bad unit for the price. I'm not currently in the market for a unit like this but I hope they are successful, as competition is sorely needed in this market. Competition always benefits the consumer.

I use this ATOM drone to film videos for my UA-cam channel and the quality and colors look fantastic. I've only seen one comparison video between the DJI and this drone where the DJI actually looks better. In every video (and I did a crap ton of research) the image quality looks the exact same if not brighter and more vibrant than the DJI mini 2 and mini 2 SE. If anything they look identical. All depends on lighting too and time of year/season. Honestly the footage from this drone looks high Quality professional. If I paid someone to make a video for me and they used this drone, I would be none the wiser and thought they filmed it with some $1000 camera drone
Man I totally did the update just the other day and I don't have any of those options to the right of my screen?? What doing wrong? I also cannot open my flight log?
