I think the distribution of the rooms is much better after the change, BUT, the style of the furniture does not coordinate with the rest of the house at all. The furniture in the entrance is horrible and blocks the way to the stairs!
This couple always scares me when they work in old houses with so much character
I agree! I also didn't like the modern light fixtures at all!
@@marianalvarado4193 and the little piece of decoupage wallpaper, gag
I like her design style, but not what she does to neat old houses. Hands off!
@@marianalvarado4193 Those light fixtures look like they came from a 1960's dumpster. Gag.
Yes, they r out of their depth in old stately homes
They ruined the interior of the front room house and an insipid dining table. The warmth is just gone. They just did not have any sense in maintaining it's beauty and furniture. What a mess. I would never take them on ever!
Many years ago there was a designer on HGTV called Candace Olsen. I always felt she was very good at mixing styles -- modern, vintage, antique pieces put together in an interesting way that worked...I don't think this worked.
Yes she was the best I would watch every episode don't know what happened to her. Always had classic timeless looks.
She rocked.
leanne only has one gear.. sometimes stunning and others...this.
Agreed
Loved Candice!
It’s fully horrible, the only thing that style matches the rest is the kitchen tap…That dining room made me grind my teeth.
Looks like college junk dining room, what the heck were they thinking. The poor guy must have been thinking, $80,000 for this junk?
@@zach16 to me it looked more like dumping some 70s style crappy furniture in the dining and living room in the middle of a beautiful victorian home. Also, that white sofa (?) was beyond tacky and completely out of place.
@@zach16 yes I wonder if this show has to redo these terrible designs?
Omg! The before house is wonderful & after the renovation it is a weird house with mismatched furniture. & the entrance furniture really makes me question about the designer 🤨
The kitchen doesn’t match the rest of the house, worst renovation of this Channel 🤮
Yes everything now looks cheap. The husband couldn't fake it
The floor plan is better. They need to hire decorators though. That is not their strong point. What happened to all those lovely chandeliers? Those 60's light fixtures are so ugly. I've seen other decorators take ones like that OUT.
Seems like she's ignoring the homeowners requests shouldn't be allowed to even show this on TV
lol, horrible... just horrible... such a beautiful house and they didn't do it justice at all
floor to ceiling white tile like a morgue
Totally agree.. such a strange makeover. I think the husband doesn't like it 😕
It's not that they didn't do it justice. They literally ruined it. I'm actually angry, and I rarely get worked up about anything.
All of the mismatched materials and ugly furniture she brought in to away from the natural beauty of the home.
Absolutely horrendous, he didn't look too enamoured either.
Oh man so bad 😂😂😂
This was just a disaster. Ugly furniture that don't fit into the rooms at all. Could have done so much more and so much better Those designers are bad, soo bad. I would have cried if I came home to that crap.
totally unbelievable
Yes the brother is great at what he does but I feel she does what she wants without considering the home owners . These people don't look happy and I bet you lunch they brought back all their furniture only good came out of this is kitchen and bathroom since it's open now. $75k to open a wall and move the bathroom. Why did she not take the kitchen cabinets to the ceiling that kitchen seems lacking cabinets and all such a fail.
I absolutely love to watch renovation shows, but have never been more angry. I can't say one nice thing about any of it. Nothing. The kitchen wasn't horrible, but it didn't belong in that gorgeous historic home.
"Doesn't" or "does not". A little grammar goes a long way.
I was afraid they were going to butcher the character of the house by mixing modern designs with it. And they exactly did that. All this house needed was functionality which they gave. But they destroyed the charm! Those furniture looked hideous!
I second you in that.
agree, the old house looks way prettier :(
Butcher? That's a bit dramatic. The furniture is just what the family needed. The smooth, glossy top on the dining room table gave lift to the atmosphere and co-ordinated beautifully with the large, color-adding sofa and fabulous mirrors in the living room. I bet their children love living there and the family will aspire to continue to embrace the new, sophisticated direction.
Absolutely, all the character and historical charme are gone. They even messed up the beautiful entry hall.
What are you talking about?? You didn't like the chalk paint fainting couch in the entry, the mid- century dining table, orange sofa, and pile of pillows on the floor?? Lol
Seriously one of the worst renovations I’ve ever seen. Such a disservice to a wonderful house.
Sorry but NO !😩
You know when they left the family redecorated. The spaces they created worked, the furniture and the placement are not only unattractive, but not functional.
The kitchen and bathroom are nice, but the furniture that was put in the other rooms just don't blend with the rest of the house. YULK!
I would have never hired the Fords for this particular project. Ugh!
The tile in the kitchen doesn't look installed correctly! That close up shows so many crooked tiles on the floor. 🥵Cute idea just need the fine details to be perfected. also way way way too much subway tile. so sad this is a beautiful home. Also where do you put a tv in the living room? looks good for TV but not real life. I do like what they did in the dinning room but now is wont fit as many people. I would have leaned more into that bench under the window. i know this isn't also renovation but a painting couch? what's that?
This couple is a discount version of Chip and Joanna Gaines. They took a nice home and took all the class out of it.
I am going to be honest as allways...the entrance looks terrible, absolutelly terrible..it looked better befor...the dinningroom looks okay, I am not so sure about the livingroom...but I do love the kitchen, the smal bathroom looks good.
So sad. 😭
Big nope. They stripped every bit of charm and cohesiveness out of the house. Ugly. That white fainting couch is atrocious. They should have designed a kitchen within the footprint of the old kitchen. The family should have brought in a restoration specialist and left the charming wallpaper, etc. That ugly coach in what had been a beautiful, formal dining room is just horrible. My God, tasteless.
What left me confused was why did they buy such a beautiful Victorian home if he didn’t like the style?
The kitchen and bathroom seem sympathetic to the house. That plastic dining table is ... I have no words. And the new family room? No. Big miss.
The first one of the Fords makeovers that I don’t love. They usually do such fabulous work.
That house is truly magnificent though.
ALL projects of this designer = Black &White .......the world is more happy with colors and textures
I feel like LeeAnn and Steve are wonderful and it’s like watching Frank Lloyd Wright’s work. They kept the lovely wood and architecture of the house AND made it more functional! Bravo
This makes me have a new respect for Victorian homes!
The new kitchen is even worse than the old one in terms of matching the style of the house. Awful.
The house WAS gorgeous 😢 then they put this awful white couch that covered up a large portion of the beautiful staircase 🤨🤦♀️ the kitchen is nice but a TOTALLY DIFFERENT STYLE than the Victorian house which makes it look terrible. It does NOT blend together at all in my opinion. But to each his own, if they love it that’s all that matters… 😅
I totally LOVE the energy they gave this home! They took a beautiful home with Civil War decor and used their budget perfectly. I was really nervous about the tile in the kitchen at first- it reminded me of a public school bathroom. Leanne has incredible vision - when they finished the tile in the kitchen, I saw Paris. The kitchen looks like a classic French kitchen in a grand home. They successfully replaced the previously dark, dated interior with light, function and joy and they fixed the sagging floors!
I have only ever lived in vintage homes. Current home is from 1907. Love a vintage, antique home. This man keeps saying "wow" and the woman "this is not my home" -- yep, that's what I think. Not a great renovation of an old, beautiful home. Thankfully, they left the front part of the home alone, except for that hideous fainting coach. If you want to see vintage renovation done, in my opinion, the right way, check out FOR THE LOVE OF KITCHENS. They do incredible work.
The house is ruined. Even the updated kitchen is not beautiful.
Good job. I would have preferred cabinets all the way to the ceiling in the kitchen.
I do like the kitchen.
That was totally awful. It was a beautiful Victorian. Do renovations always have to be modern? Is that the only style they know? It was truly, truly disgusting. It totally did not work or mesh at all. Two thumbs way down!
What a majestic house. Well done for buying it when the opportunity came.
This is a crime scene.
Hate the furniture
I love everuthinf about wjat they did 💕
Terrible. No feeling for the history and heritage of the house. The new kitchen and bathroom are okay, the rest should better have stayed untouched - and I would not have taken down the wall, either.
I'm glad they love it because I absolutely hate it🤮 Wtheck was going on with the entrance? Not to mention that wall in the new lounge? Crikey!! The kitchen..don't get me started🤢The rearrangement was the only thing dine right..
The only way I could have hated this more is if they'd painted the woodwork 👎
Very nice
Love the entry, love the kitchen!
The house is gorgeous. I would have done a dark academia vibe. I actually liked the kitchen, but I would have had painted cabinets. I also am not a fan of the furniture choices. The place needs color. The Fords are not who you look to if you like color.
When you renovate a house but do nothing to it
This interior designer always skips upper cabinets in her kitchens so so impractical I can’t emphasise enough uppers are so useful for all age grp to keep things away from children , on a tired day you can’t keep walking to pantry or bend repeatedly & for older ppl too …. Furniture looked out of place, just layout improved !
Some of the great things: retaining the original woodwork; opening up the kitchen; running a dusty pink curved stripe (to go with the barstools of the same color) across the wall from kitchen to dining room. Some of the not great things: the fainting couch (looks like a stage set); the decoupage wall in the family room (silly); the washtub for a bathroom sink (too clever).
O lord I hate that front room! That dinning room looks horrible 😢
What a disaster. Unfortunate. Some good elements opening up this space but the furniture and styling is disastrous. I would like to have seen a country kitchen that has painted woodwork that blends with the era of the rest of the house.
This is just cool as all get out. The object was not to do a restoration. It is a renovation.
Nothing like living in a house with a hotel kitchen...and that abomination of a table in the dining room has got to GO. The wife likes antiques and they place a table in there that looks like it belongs in a 60's "antique" shop. What was wrong with the original table?
The Fords' designs are not meant for houses like this
Horrible. Apart from the kitchen, who needed it, the rest...
Anytime I watch these designers, I feel like they just chugged a beer and took a couple bong rips lol. Don't get me wrong, I love to party, but like.... They don't feel very professional.
On top of that, you walk in and the place looks exactly the same besides the furniture, and the furniture has a completely different vibe than the architecture/bones of the house.
When you add all that together, it just feels like a couple of intoxicated slugs that barely put any effort or creativity into their renovation.
I try not to comment negative things online, but I just really feel like these two don't deserve their own show.
Move the fainting couch to kids room
the furniture at the entrance... is ugly
Why is everyone so mad? They respected the woodwork. All the furniture can be exchanged if they don’t like it.
No
The polart furniture is awful. And why are there no carpets or rugs anywhere?? Makes the house look so cold and unfinished. Victorian houses need rugs!!!!
It looks better without the wallpaper, but the furniture in the entry room was pretty shockingly tacky. Her antiques & more modern pieces would’ve looked much better - IMHO
We got lucky to not have to sit through watching the full episode of this. I would be furious and demand my home fixed. Wonder what the show does when homeowners are not happy with the results? Do they bring in someone else or return the money. The brother does all the labor and I would assume the show pays the crew. They can't make us believe this was $80k home makeover no way
I feel like I just witnessed a crime against this beautiful Victorian home. The original character of the home was not respected. The new furnishings are horrendous and look cheap. It's shocking and sad. 😥😢😭
Sorry to say this but don't really like the transformation 😔
Are we being punked? At first she said she hates it when a historic house is remodeled in a way that doesn't go with the home, and the very next moment, she mentioned going modern. Wait, what?
It all looks like the "before". The entry has got to be the worst I've ever seen in my life. It's as if the furniture had just been delivered, but not set up yet. So, guests will enter into this gorgeous historic home to be greeted by a white fainting couch with drawings all over it. The furniture placement makes no sense at all. Then there's that weird sketch on the wall, two of the same dumb tables next to each other and that horrible light fixture.
There is nothing redeeming about the dining room. Nothing goes with the home at all. There is no cohesiveness whatsoever.
The living room is embarrassing. Decoupage on the walls??? She can't be serious.
The kitchen is okay, but does not go with this historic home at all. Stark black and white does not go with all of that gorgeous woodwork. It does not look like it was done by a designer. Then open the giant double doors to enter a powder room??
To be perfectly honest, it's rather offensive to that home. Everything they did literally takes away from the beauty of the home. I've never been more angry after watching a renovation show. It harkens back to Hilde putting hay on the walls on Trading Spaces...if anyone is old enough to remember that. I'm disgusted.
👎👎👎
The only good thing is that one of the homeowners seemed to genuinely love it. I'm not sure he did, but she did. Actually, once she got over the shock, she may not have loved it as much as she thought she did. She seems to have better taste.
Terrible setting, the furniture is just beyond
the white looks to modern but I think they did a good job
Nope
The after looks so bad 🤣🤣🤣
Horrid. the kitchen was nice but those lights ruined it.
I read the comments before seeing the reveal. I thought "how harsh", but I now understand. Horrible design choices.
Um no.
Gourageos Reno!
Apart from the kitchen and bathroom, and the layout, what they did is UGLY. I'd be furious!
You have to be seriously nuts to butcher a house like this. I don’t get people buying old homes just to try to make it modern. Might as well just buy modern built homes. You guys totally butchered it. Looked beautiful before. None of the new furniture even match. Unbelievable.
🤬😡This made me so upset. They truly ruined this. They should’ve been fired. This is Hideous 😫😭💯🚮
Kitchen was made better but the rest of the house.....yuck.
i think these guys are high....
Hahahhahahahahahah those comments are haahhaha
I don't like it.
What the hell have u done!!!! Horrible 😢😢😢
yuck!
Yuck sorry not a fan
This was a job for Nate and Jeremiah - NOT Leanne and Steve.
