OH MY GOSH THANK YOU!! ✨ i tried everything. the tuna juice, separate feeding, EVERYTHING. but a few days ago, i was patient, and i saw my turtle actually grab the food and swallow it right when i put it in! he’s a baby and i have never seen him do this! thank you for this.
Lol my turtles are so greedy. If Bubba dosent want to eat lettuce then I stick Bonnie in there and Bonnie will eat everything so the minute he sees this he will start eating lettuce. It’s like a competition to see who gets to the end first. They don’t strike at each other when I do this with lettuce. How ever with strawberries it’s bad. So I learned to hand feed them each strawberry slices so they do not fight. It’s working really well so far. Great video! I’ll remember the tuna water trick. That is awesome trick!
If you have a smaller turtle you can let the pellets soak in their water and they will eat the particals of it and the main piece of food after they get a little taste of it first. It is a great tip.
my turtle hasn’t eaten in several weeks, and she used to eat alot ever day. She’s pretty big, and we think she needs a larger tank but we dont really have the space. Any tips?
Your not supposed to feed turtles everyday from now on feed your turtle on Monday. Wendsday. Friday. Treat on Sunday. They should be supplied a nice tank or Kid Pool. If you find that you don't have the requirements for him or her perhaps rehoming ;( It could be a result of Stress and Overfeeding. The obesity the Turtle feels could keep it to sinking into Depression. Yes turtles can be depressed. Try hand feeding tho it works for turtles who havent eaten in a while. Be careful for those fingers! Make sure you allow a basking ramp clean water some nice and cleaned with Hot water Riverstone Rocks rinse them with cold after. For enrichment try small seashells. A water filter, and the correct lighting must be in order if you need help consult in your local Veteran! Make sure the temperature is the correct for the Water Temp and The Basking Temp you may do this with a specific tool look up something similar to temperature marker tool and you should find something you can use to determine the degree of water. If the temperature is too hot it could burn them if it's too low it could make them pass away and both hot and cold could cause a turtle to pass away or be stressed.
Water dragon When I first got my turtles that ate fine then when I changed there enclosure to a bigger one they suddenly stopped eating I was so worried but I decided to give it time. I’m happy to say they they eventually did start eating after a long time (three weeks) yes I was scared. Also make sure you don’t over feed it, feed it depending on it’s age. Plz keep in mind that I am not a professional and this is just my opinion.
So I’ve had my box turtle for almost a yr now. She just started to refuse her food. The tuna water trick just might work and I will be trying to live food as well. My four yr old son will have a fit if anything was to happen to her so thank you so much for your helpful tips!!

Although my turtle has become stubborn recently, I’ve found that using tongs will cause your turtle to associate anything that is held in the tongs as good. My little guy typically just spits stuff out anyways but sometimes he’ll find something he likes and he’ll eat it.
Got mine 4 days ago from pet store, it’s not eating anything, not even dried mealworms and shrimp. I think they were used to live fish. They were feeding them Minos, and so it’s refusing pellets, and now too weak to swim right and showing signs of distress so I put it in a shallow tank away from my other turtle, and trying to get it to eat eventually. Thx for the tips.

If your turtles are having trouble eating vegetables just take away their pellets and other foods for a month if they an adolescent or adult. Baby turtles don't need vegetables, but if they eat them that is good. Also, make sure baby turtles get plenty of protein. I have plenty of experience and they may beg and beg, but don't give in. They'll be fine and will eventually eat vegetables. Also for those having trouble getting your turtle to eat, just make sure they have adequet swimming room and a basking spot with enough heat and they should eat.
What are you feeding them? If they are young try feeding them the really really small turtle pellets that you find at like petco or petsmart. As long as they have a basking spot to warm up their body and water for exercise they should eat. Adaquate water allows for proper bodily functions and metabolization. A basking spot increases their body temps so they dont become sluggish and lose their apatite.
No, just have a basking area. It will increase their metabolism. Making them hungry. Feed them in water. They need their food to be wet to properly eat it.
OMG, thank you sooo much The Turtle Girl! I’ve been waiting for this video soo much! My male yellow belly slider is 6 years old and randomly decides to go off his food. After I watched this video, I fed him with his most favourite live food, Wax Worms. Right now, I hide a wax worm behind a pellet and then gel eats the pellet instead of the Wax Worm! Thank you soo much. You are my favourite animal UA-camr! Keep doing what you are doing! 🤩🤪
I GOT HER TO EAT YES!!! Let's see how we got here. I went to petco a week ago and got a red eared slider. Little did i she was lazy so she didn't want to follow the food. I tamed her in 3 days. You're a lifesaver, thank you for your tips Turtle girls! #turtlelife I've have my two baby #res #redearsliders. ...Turtles Rosie, and Joseph, I've had them for about a week. I think they are both male but, I still pretend one is a girl. He likes it so Rosie he is LOL, got to make my turtle happy right. 🐢😁
Thank you for this. I'm going to definitely try this out today. I just adopted a blind turtle and he's been really difficult to feed as they said he was a picky eater. I've been so worried since hes gone a day or 2 without eating. Your videos have helped me a bunch!
for some more tips, this is how I got my aquatic turtle to eat: just wait it out, they will eventually get hungry change the water temperature, a warm 70-85° is a perfect temperature she/he might me a picky eater, so try to get different pellets or live food that’s all, I hope you learned something!
Thank you so much. This VDO is very useful to me. My turtle is 16 years old and she has been stop eating for a week. She cannot breathe properly. After taking her to the vet, I found out that she has problem about the lung. But the major problem is that she stop eating. I dont know why until I have watched your vdo. Tomorrow, I'll try feeding her with new brand of turtle food. And if irt still not work. I will put then into the tuna as you did in the vdo. Thank you so much.. U light up my day ^^
I too, would like to teach Tyler how to get out of the tank, take off the lid to her food, eat the right amount, put the lid back on, and return to the tank.
It's been four months my turtle is not eating anything..now thanks to you dear I got the answer what to feed my turtle...thank you so much you are the life savior🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
My turtle doesn't eat anything, I leave food on the basking rock every day, so does he eat at night? He is alive but I haven't seen him eat anything in weeks. He is a Mississippi map turtle
I'm sure you know this by now already, but just in watching youtube videos, it's a no no to put their food on the basking rock. Turtles need their food put into the water.
THANK YOU!! THIS REALLY WORKED!! I WAS WORRIED BECAUSE IT DIDN'T ATE FOR DAYS! BTW,I HAVE A BABY RED-EAR SLIDER!!AND THXXXXXX A LOTTTT!😀😀😀😀😀 I DON'T KNOW HOW TO THANK YOUUUU! AND YOU ARE RIGHT...PATIENCE IS THE KEY!
If your turtles won’t eat definitely try live foods or greens. They’re more attracted to brighter colors and its also fresh but do try to get some vitamins in your turtles diet so live foods would be great in that aspect. I’ve recently gotten my turtle and he refused to eat the first week but then I switched the pellets with greens and he started eating he temperature will definitely affect how much your turtle eats
honestly thank you ! Been watching you for a couple months now while my turtle has been growing and honestly you helped me learn so much ! And it’s extremely entertaining 😎🤙
So I'm currently feeding my turtles in their tank and I really want to start feeding them in a separate container so their tank won't get so gross quickly. Did yours have any problem when you first started doing it or did they not care?
Bianca Perez also i recommend not just giving live food, good pelets actually give a really balanced nutrition for your turtle (but you will have to cut them if they are too hard or big for the baby turtle to ea.)
Hey my turtle is not eating for a month. I took it to the vet and he gave some eye drops 3 times but it was not effective. I tried force feeding it but it was reluctant to open its mouth. What should I do? Plz help
Thank you sooooooooo much! My sister brought home a baby turtle from a lake. And she took it from its home! So thank you and she's feeding it blue barries!
Thank you so much for the tips!! 🙏🏼I'm soo gonna dip little Joshua Jr's pellets in some Chicken of the sea! 😆😁🤙🏼 I also started trying different brands of pellets and different types of fruits and vegetables 😊
no wonder i just shifted my 10 yr old red eared slider turtle to a new 80 gallon tank i waited for days and it started eating thank you so much for giving me tips
You’re exactly right he is very stubborn when it’s feeding time he doesn’t like eating the same foods he eat my Chinese food but has quite he love grilled fish and chicken 🍗 smh 🤦♀️ he is extremely spoiled
I have a plastron turtle and he wouldn't eat so what I decided to do is just watch different videos about how to get him to eat and yours is the first one that helped
Patients is key I got my turtles a few weeks ago and there was a small one and a big one the Big one hated eating and I was getting worried so I watched this video and it said patient and so I was patient and then my turtle started eating
Judge chacon omg same!! My turtle tata died and then ny other turtle, louis, slowly stopped eating. It’s been like two weeks now and she completely refuses to eat. She doesn’t even touch the food.
I kno this video is a lil bit old but, I just now stumbled across it as I am having a really hard time getting our new painted turtle to eat. First I want to say THANK YOU so much. This video helped us tremendously! We have a juvenile painted turtle that we "rescued" from the wild & this lil guy just will NOT eat. We've tried literally everything. Pellets, meal worms, live earth worms, you name it.. We've tried it. It's only been a few days but I was extremely worried when the lil guy wasn't eating but after watching the video I feel confident if we just wait it out, he will eventually eat once he gets used to his new environment & gets hungry enough. I like the idea of soaking the pellets in tuna water. That's a really good idea & one we will definitely try if he continues to not eat. I'm going to subscribe to the channel to keep learning everything I can to give our turtle the best home possible. Thank you so much for all the info provided in this video. Like I said, this was a huge help & I look forward to more videos like this in the future. Also, what kind of turtle is featured in this video? He/She is beautiful 😍 Anyway.. Thank you again for all the helpful information and hope you have an awesome day! 😁
@@cosmosungorus We have had him for too long now to even consider releasing him. He has become dependent on us & would undoubtedly not survive in the wild. The problem with no eating is definitely no longer an issue. He eats alot! Pellets, frenzy sticks, fresh greens & an occasional worm or two. He has a nice home & is very active and seems happy. Speedy has become a part of our family now & has grown SO much over the past several months. He literally has quadrupled in size! But yeah, releasing him into the wild is not an option at this point.
Great video! We brought home a musk turtle who needs a little TLC and were getting anxious since she's been refusing food the last couple of days. We'll be patient and try the stuff you recommended. :>
We have had a hatchling painted turtle for a week. It wasn't eating worms or hatchling food, so we watched this video and got a varitety of things and fed it in a shallow bowl. Still, we spend about 2 hours throughout the day trying to offer it food. It was more active and now it is getting lethargic. We did see it eat a fiber or two of tuna fish. It did try to eat a worm, but couldn't figure it out. So we moved on to adding a wider variety and putting it in a bowl with food everywhere. It did absolutely nothing...didn't even move around. Yesterday, it looked dead. Barely moved or opened its eyes all day. I went to inspect it a bit and noticed it had hatchling food stuck under its shell. I started to look more and there were pellets stuck in the leg sockets behind each leg. I had to gently pull out each leg and flush the food out. It has been basking most of the day, but isn't interested in swimming. It was so much more active at the beginning of the week. We are feeling really worried that we are watching it slowly die. Do you have any other tips that might work to get it to eat? It's tank has the zoo med dual dome light with a turtle dock and driftwood with java fern on it and is heated to about 78 degrees.
I'm so glad I saw this and I have a new baby names Issy Miyake, he's only 3oz, 3" Shell and he is a great swimmer and very picky eater. He doesn't at all like greens, he will not eat any of the 5 varieties I have brought for him, the whole of chopped up. He is in love with Pellets the Zoon Med Aquatic Pellets and gobbles those up about 20 per feeding. I tried feeding him Zoo Men Red Shrimp, he picks at it, but I haven't tried feeding him anything live yet. He is a rescue and came with 5 fish in his tank. He didn't even bother with them at all and they eventually all died. So I'm looking for great options to get this boy to eat and I started him on a schedule this week, every other day greens only, nothing else, he doesn't eat them, he doesn't eat, 1 day a week Protein and 3 days a week Pellets. Any suggestions Turtle Girl?
I just take care 2 turtles in 3 days, they seems like nvr eat the pelet at all, just abit and throw it, they seems to eat dirt, and one of them trying to eat the turtle leg, may i know why? One more can we put direct sunlight, what if too hot, it is good?
Tried all different kids of pellets, blood worms, etc. he wasn't interested in any of it. Soaked some pellets in tuna water and it did the trick. Thank you
I work in a seafood restaurant and get my crawfish fresh from louisiana.i dave a baby red eared slider about 6 months ago in one of the bags of crawfish.he was missing a toe and had a gash of his head.ive kept him ever since and i can say its not easy.he eats sometimes mostly when ive freshly cleaned his water.ive got pellets and the dry shrimp.i did feed him live cricket once and he devoured them haha but i live in a small town and had to travel out of town to a petstore which isnt easy for me lol im going to try the tuna water sounds like a good idea.thanks for the help in the video i thought i was doing it all wrong but i feel more at ease now.your really cute too haha
I had a western painted that had mouth surgery on a 'crusted' area; they can be fed if needed organic baby food green w/ their pellets/reptomin crushed in it with a dental flushing syringe or eye dropper. Warm mixture in bowl in bowl (like a double boiler) of warm water before feeding and have second syringe of good/clean water to aid them flushing food down.
Wow 🤩 I appreciate you’re knowledge and wisdom. This video was very informative. I have a very tiny turtle and , I really want to nurture it, the best way, u can. Thank you. Unfortunately, my turtle does not eat just yet. I been trying veggies and wet turtle food. I believe I will attempt you’re way of feeding it. Thanks once again.
Hey Turtle Girl, I've been watching your videos for a while now and just recently received baby musk turtles and a baby southern painted turtle - I love them! But they would not eat when I put them in a separate bowl to eat. I even put a piece of backdrop around it so they wouldn't think I was spying on them and could eat in private. But after 30 minutes, they hadn't touched anything, just still furiously trying to 'find a way out'! I did this for a week. But when I put the food in their habitat tank, they ate just fine. My question is what sinking foods would you recommend for the musk turtles? Thanks for the great videos - they're really appreciated!

Thanks for this so much I was very worried for my little Chica she hasn't ate in 4 days but now I know to what again thank you I really appreciate it
You're a lifesaver, thank you for your tips Turtle girls!
Your videos have helped me a bunch!
for some more tips, this is how I got my aquatic turtle to eat:
just wait it out, they will eventually get hungry
change the water temperature, a warm 70-85° is a perfect temperature
she/he might me a picky eater, so try to get different pellets or live food
that’s all, I hope you learned something!
Thank you for sharing!
U light up my day ^^
My turtle was eating alot and now he is not eating its been a noth or two and its abit scare
He is not moving alot opand his shell is seeding
This really helped! Thank you for the video, the turtle girl!
I have a question how can I train my turtle to eat when I'm gone?
I too, would like to teach Tyler how to get out of the tank, take off the lid to her food, eat the right amount, put the lid back on, and return to the tank.
There is no training required.
For it is natural. All you require is a filled up food dispenser for them.

Tysm!! This worked my turtle did not eat for weeks and I tried this and worked!
Thanks. I never thought of tuna fish water
dose it work with dry baby shrimp in tuna fish water ???
It's been four months my turtle is not eating anything..now thanks to you dear I got the answer what to feed my turtle...thank you so much you are the life savior🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
My turtle doesn't eat anything, I leave food on the basking rock every day, so does he eat at night?
He is alive but I haven't seen him eat anything in weeks.
He is a Mississippi map turtle
I'm sure you know this by now already, but just in watching youtube videos, it's a no no to put their food on the basking rock. Turtles need their food put into the water.
Yoooooo put the food in the water not in the basking place
Update: He started eating after being more comfortable, I have no idea why I put food on the basking area. Thanks for the help
THANK YOU!! THIS REALLY WORKED!! I WAS WORRIED BECAUSE IT DIDN'T ATE FOR DAYS!
BTW,I HAVE A BABY RED-EAR SLIDER!!AND THXXXXXX A LOTTTT!😀😀😀😀😀
I DON'T KNOW HOW TO THANK YOUUUU!
AND YOU ARE RIGHT...PATIENCE IS THE KEY!
Awesome tip TG!
I know, I'm smart LOLOLOL
Haha! For sure!
I got a red ear slider fr pet co and he hasn't eat I've had him for 3 days I got him fish and banana and. Cricket s risk what to do
honestly thank you ! Been watching you for a couple months now while my turtle has been growing and honestly you helped me learn so much ! And it’s extremely entertaining 😎🤙
I'm so glad to hear that!
So I'm currently feeding my turtles in their tank and I really want to start feeding them in a separate container so their tank won't get so gross quickly. Did yours have any problem when you first started doing it or did they not care?
They both did not like eating in the container at first, but after a week or two they started actually eating ;)
The Turtle Girl will baby turtles eat live things and do they need a filter
Bianca Perez yes, you need a good filter, turtles are very messy. Watch turtle girl's filters video, she explained everything very well
Bianca Perez also i recommend not just giving live food, good pelets actually give a really balanced nutrition for your turtle (but you will have to cut them if they are too hard or big for the baby turtle to ea.)
Thank you, patience is the key! my turtle started eating!
glad to hear it!!
Dose it also work with a red ear turtle🤔?
I believe so.
Hey my turtle is not eating for a month. I took it to the vet and he gave some eye drops 3 times but it was not effective. I tried force feeding it but it was reluctant to open its mouth. What should I do? Plz help
Thank you for the tips my turtle hasn’t been eating for almost 5 weeks this will sure help her!!😃😃

no wonder i just shifted my 10 yr old red eared slider turtle to a new 80 gallon tank i waited for days and it started eating thank you so much for giving me tips
But I had my turtle for almost 2 months and it’s not eating
Pls take it to a exotic vet , because there's a big big possibility that it had an illness

Why not release him back into the wild? I’m just curious
Patience bish mine bout to die
I couldn’t believe the tuna water recommendation...but I tried and it worked!!!
Thank you for putting this video on your UA-cam channel I shall appreciate that cuz I love my turtle so much and I was so concerned about them eating
“ I can’t words” 😂😂😂😂😂
Great video! We brought home a musk turtle who needs a little TLC and were getting anxious since she's been refusing food the last couple of days. We'll be patient and try the stuff you recommended. :>
Wow what a cute and sweet turtle...
I love Hoku’s little beak like thing😭😂❤️
Lol I feel like it kind of makes him look lie he's always smiling :P
Id it a baby turtle should eat once a say EVERYDAY
@@MsKarunga I no longer have any aquatic animals, it was too much for me.
I just take care 2 turtles in 3 days, they seems like nvr eat the pelet at all, just abit and throw it, they seems to eat dirt, and one of them trying to eat the turtle leg, may i know why? One more can we put direct sunlight, what if too hot, it is good?
Hafshah Hashim Please don’t put your turtle direct sunlight cuz one of my turtle died few days ago from putting them outside .
Thank you so much because of you my turtle started eating 😊😊
Thanks that's very helpful.👍🤗
your channel is so helpful 🥰
Tried all different kids of pellets, blood worms, etc. he wasn't interested in any of it. Soaked some pellets in tuna water and it did the trick. Thank you
Glad that it worked! They really like the scent :D
Omg! This worked immediately and my turtle hasn’t eaten for weeks! Subscribed!!!!
Thank you so much! I just bought a turtle a couple days ago, and he hasn’t been eating! I was getting worried!
🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 I'm going to try this tips and see how she feels! Thank you!!
Thanks once again.

thanks for the teaching advice you have
you're welcome, I'm so happy to hear that!
Best advice. Thanks
We need more people like u
Thanks for the very informative video! Do you feed the turtles in a separate tank, so as not to make their homes to messy?
Just ordered a bunch of stuff for my new turtle after watching this lol thanks for the vid I appreciate it
hi I just aquired a very small mud turtle and she hides in her fake plants and yes actually buries herself in her sand, her temps stay at 74° to 78° that's where Google said they should be she has a 75 watt basking light and yes I know mud turtles don't bask I just use the light to keep her warm and she has a sand substrate and very low water cause they are bottom dwellers, anyways I have tried giving her bloodworms and hatchling food...nothing,one forum told me to give her 2 weeks to start feeling comfortable and then she will come out and eat...I know nothing about mud turtles...I have a 21 year old female red eared slider,a 15 year old female eastern ornate box turtle, and a 6 year old male sulcata/African spur thighed tortoise...plz help this baby is so tiny..I found her in a parking lot that's why I took her if she would have been bigger I would have left her in nature...where she belongs! I don't believe in taking wild turtles home!!
