I think it's also important to mention that all turtles are different and it's important to pay attention to behavior and habits of your individual turtle to understand what they need, how much to feed them, what they prefer in they're enclosure, etc
I just found one and was thinking of releasing him since he was slightly stressed but figured he might become road kill or fall prey but after this video I will keep him his name is mitch.
My son found a painted baby turtle also in a pool they were closing for the winter. He took it home and then had to move , and had nowhere to keep it. So I ended up taking it. Cause it was too cold already to let it go. Still winter here so I was wondering if someone wants it or is it ok to let it go in the spring? Next I just heard they're not legal to keep in New York.
Thank you for posting this! My 4 month old musk turtle has the same setup! Everyone’s always on me for a heat bulb and no one believes me when I tell this this same thing!
We had a turtle lay eggs in our front yard. It’s the red eared slider. This has helped getting a temp setup for them before we take them to the pond. The mom came from the pond, so they are wild. All we want to do is make sure they are ok as newborns. If we take them to AC, they will just be put down.
Man just came across your account and really appreciate your content. Been into to turtles since I was a kid. Now I have a red eared slider and a Florida softshell! I'm lookin to add a diamondback terrapin to the family. Loving this content!
Excellent information, thank you for explaining this so clearly. You provided all the details I was searching for to care for my little turtle correctly. I appreciate the fake plant idea, that will simplify the process of keeping water clean. One suggestion, please note measurements in both versions. Degrees in Fahrenheit & Celsius or size in Feet & Meters. Wishing all abundant Blessings!
We found a baby American slider at our front door. We are not sure how it arrived there but was want to provide a healthy environment for it. Thank you for such amazing instructional videos.
I agree, it's critical to specify Degrees, either Fahrenheit or Celsius! Never know who's watching & where they live. It would be helpful to state both. I watch other content with measurements & they provide both, Feet & Meters.

I have a baby mud turtle I found a year and a half ago. it was really wierd because I found him in November, which means he is like 5 months old, but was still smaller than my thumbnail! It's the one in the pic on my thumbnail, that's the day I found him. I can't imagine how small he was when he hatched. He loves tubifex worms, those cubes. I usually keep a few right next to the tank because I have to break small pieces off for him. He now has seen them and knows they are there, so he is constantly digging down into the sand, thinking he is going to find a way to get to them!
Mine lives in a fish tank 💀 10 gal filled up more then Half way with plants and rocks and stuff in the water they sleep underwater with their heads out and love to swim with my fishes

@@Anime_Dono okay, thank you so much! what would you think a good start out would be if I just got a baby turtle? I've never really had them so I don't really know the size of them
@@mayamurphy6834 a baby is about the size of a quarter if you buy it so you won't need a container more than 10 gallons but turtles can drown so honestly you'll need like a plastic container maybe like 10 in wide and like 1 in to 1 1/2 in for water so they don't drown. Also you'll need something they can get on top of and bask on. I use a rock that's taller than the water height and make sure he can climb on top of it. I got my rock from my yard but not all rocks are safe so you'll have to test it with vinegar and if it bubbles then the rock is no good but if it doesn't then you can use the rock. You'll also need a uvb light above where it's basking which you can find at the pet store or on Craigslist. I personally don't have one for my baby since I only have one and use it for my adult turtle and I would have bought another one however I take my turtles out of their tank a lot and let the walk around my house and outside freely, when I can watch them, so they are already getting from the sun what they would have gotten from the lights
