- The Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson has been diagnosed with skin cancer.
Fergie, 64, was hit with this shock health scare just six months after she was treated for breast cancer.
Medics have now removed a mole on her body which tested as a malignant melanoma.
A malignant melanoma is the most serious form of skin cancer.
Royal expert Kinsey Schofield says it feels like some senior royals are "tightening up", as Sarah Ferguson is diagnosed with skin cancer.
"They invited her to Sandringham for Christmas, they wanted her near... she remains in good spirits."

People who think malignant melanoma isn’t serious, should think again. This will be a very tough battle for her. I had a friend with a suspicious mole. I called my doc and they got her in that day due to my urging. She was sent directly to an oncologist from her appt and her battle began. Her cancer had spidered into her leg and they did an aggressive surgery only days later and removed a huge area of her thigh deep into her leg trying to save her leg and her life. That would have been the first of many surgeries that would have left her in horrific pain and no quality of life, for the remainder of her life. A few months later she showed me knots on her back that popped up everywhere seemingly overnight. It had spread aggressively. She chose not to continue to be cut on, instead to spend the remainder of her time with her family. She went entirely too young. Sending healing prayers for Fergie.

That's really sad , my husband went to the doctor about his slipped disc and while examining his back noticed a crescent shaped mole , he sent him straight for tests and yes it was skin cancer , but he had had that mole nearly all his life and it suddenly turned cancerous, lucky for him his doctor noticed the change in it .
Unfortunately those of us who are freckled and fair skinned, have a 7x chance of getting melanoma. Wanna believe I pay attention to any strange looking spots anywhere! It is lethal.

It will be the same doctors that we would see if living in London. The only difference if that she will be having private care. So a lovely room and a menu.
@@futoooobMy 94 year old mum had a cancerous mole removed and had radiotherapy. They checked her over to make sure she hadn't got anymore. Stop talking rubbish.
@@mairiconnell6282 Certainly the UK NHS would provide the service. Cancer Care has changed enormously since the first Cancer Czar, Professor Mike Richards, was appointed. There are NO PROVEN treatments that Sarah will be offered that she would not have been able to obtain on the NHS. Private here is for PRIVACY and Security, just like the Princess of Wales and HRH King Charles III.

This is an awful type of cancer, my nephew had stage 4 skin cancer and needed an emergency operation to save his life, and he’s still not out of the woods as they didnt remove it all. Wishing Sarah a speedy recovery.

My mom was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma while my dad had stage 4 lung cancer. The doctors were more concerned about my dad but my mom only lasted 8 months. It was hell. Please protect your skin! I wish Fergie the best.

It definitely is. I am sorry about your brother, it is a tough way to go. My grandmother lost both her brother-in-law and niece to it. Both from sun exposure, one might assume. And yet the generic, rough skin cancer can be zapped off...I know someone who has had over 50 and he is still going strong decades later. But the black melanoma is not an ordinary almost benign skin cancer, that is for sure. She most likely got hers as secondaries, as it is only 6 mths since her breast cancer. We can only pray for a miracle....they do happen....Look at Lance Armstrong...whatever one thinks of him...he is a cancer miracle...riddled from head to toe, and seems it made him ride faster than ever....with a bit of help from this and that!

I do admire Fergie. She has always remained loyal to the royal family and never complained. Very admirable of her to speak out about breast and skin cancer. The thing that annoys me about cancer, we get all these warnings of "you will get cancer", "its cancerous" and other claims particularly in the work place. The Duchess of York is now facing a struggle against a nasty disease despite not being exposed to welding fumes, old engine oil, old gear oil and other so called cancerous substances.
My Grandma died before I was born. She died in 1953, aged 53 and she died of breats cancer. Unfortunately, cancer can affect anyone, at any age, of any gender and or background. It is a sad part of life.
She's got ginger hair, which makes her skin likely to be sunburnt easily, she shouldn't have exposed her boobs so much.
Not to assign blame but she is a very fair red head. And she loved the sun. As a survivor of multiple skin cancers myself, those bills come due. Best wishes to the duchess.
Back in 1953 the treatment for cancer was nitrogen mustard which is mustard gas. I only know this because my grandfather died from cancer in 1950 and that was the treatment back then. My nana swore it was the treatment that hastened his death.
Cancer treatment has come a long way since the 50’s.
My gran died of breast cancer at 72, her daughter (mums sister) in her 50s, my dad died at 86, my sister at 9, way too young..but cancer doesn't care, it attacked anyone 😢😢😢😢😢😢

The poor woman has probably been caused so much anxiety over many years by the cruelty expressed by journalists, commentators and even her own family. No wonder she is ill, it is well know that such hostility is detrimental to health. Her very brief affair with one person when she was very young and had been left alone for months at a time whilst her husband was away in the Navy, she has been very harshly judged probably because she is a woman.

Fergie has definitely been a stabilising influence on Prince Andrew. She has been loyal to the royals, discrete and helpful to her family. It is such a pity she has this aggressive melanoma, as secondaries from her recent bout of breast cancer. We can only wish her all the best for a full recovery.
Breast cancer and melanoma are totally separate cancers. Secondary breast cancer found in parts of the body other than the breast are still composed of breast cancer cells. Melanoma is a form of skin cancer and the cancer cells are completely different type of cancer.

I had this form of skin cancer 16 years ago and it was caught early and it hadn’t spread, thank God. But always check moles for changes and use sun screen. Better yet, keep in the shade.
If melanoma is caught early, it is curable. I am proof of that.

Aussie here - the skin cancer capital of the World. My husband, a retired farmer, has skin cancers whacked off with the frequency of a teenager poking pimples. He has had a number of melanomas successfully removed along with the usual crop of the less worrying ones. If a melanoma is caught early, it is an entirely treatable condition, and it sounds as if this one has been caught early thanks to the other treatments she was undergoing. Anyway, prayers from Australia to all of our beloved RF.

My dear sister died from malignant melanoma, it’s extremely aggressive and can show up again years after it’s removed and spread quickly. Good luck Sarah Fergie, she may not be everyone’s cup of tea but she is her own unique person with a good heart I think, and there is no reason to wish ill on her.
Melanoma can grow very quickly. It can become life-threatening in as little as 6 weeks ..alot of people do not know that ..of course not all melanoma do grow that fast but who is willing to take that chance ..very sorry for your sister

Just because Fergie has money, doesn't mean she is undeserving of public sympathy. She has serious, deadly melanoma as breast cancer secondaries. The prognosis is not good at the best of times.
I think it more highlights that CANCER is not selective regarding a person’s social class, race, religion, age etc. When different types of cancer are highlighted in the media, it does spur the public to self check and book appointments with medical professionals if needed. I can guarantee when Fergie released details that she had breast cancer. People had conversations about it, mammograms were booked etc which is a good thing because it proven cancer is best caught early.

With the exception of Princess Catherine's condition, it was very important to speak about health issues that are related to aging. Prostate cancer, Breast cancer, and Skin cancer can be treated successfully if caught on time. Both my uncles and my dad were tested early which saved their lives. My childhood friend unfortunately was not regularly getting her mammograms, and currently fighting stage 3 cancer. My dad and my aunt both had skin cancer, and I get tested annually. Just got a mole removed that was not a benign this time, and also caught on time.

I'm really sorry to hear about the King, Princess of Wales and now Fergie for the 2nd time. Stress manifests itself in many ways and I honestly believe all the stress they have been under due to other peoples behaviours and how upsetting it has been has triggered these awful health problems. I work in the health service and have seen this happen time and time again and have also had personal experience of health problems due to stress. I do hope they all recover soon.

Melanoma can turn inward inside a person's body. I know because that is what my late brother-in-law died from and it wasn't discovered until it had spread to his liver. May Fergie find successful treatment.

Hey now! I realize melanoma is dangerous, all cancer is potentially dangerous, but all this doom and gloom. I had stage 4a malignant melanoma. I had a huge surgery on my shin, to the bone, and my lymph nodes were removed from that leg. It’s 5 years on, and I’m well and cancer free.

Not really surprised that Fergie has skin cancer. Her skin is just the type to get it. I had it years ago and you just need to watch yourself and take precautions.
