Oh, this takes me back. My husband and I also liked to hike and most of our trips surrounded seeing waterfalls. We stumbled onto Cades Cove on a trip to Gatlinburg and visiting it and learning about it's history was a blast. Turned out to be our favorite part of that trip. My husband has passed on now and I'm getting to old to chase most waterfalls but I sure did love watching younger folks enjoy some of the same places I visited in the past. It was a trip down memory lane for me. Thanks. ~Sherrie in South Carolina
Thank you so much for sharing your story Sherrie! ❤️ Those sound like beautiful memories. It seems like some of our favorite places we've actually just stumbled upon by chance. Almost a kind of serendipity. We're so happy to bring you some joy of reliving some past trips. Lots of love. 💕
We're so happy you're enjoying our videos Valeria! 💓 Hiking and camping will always be a big part of our lives since we love it so much. It gets us closer to nature and makes us feel so much more connected. It's so much fun dividing our time between tropical and mountains. 😁 Thanks so much for watching!
The mountains are so much bigger in person. I never was inspired to go to Tennessee & one day I gave it a try & I fell in love. I hiked Chimney Top & The Alum Cave Trail all the way up to the village. Just beautiful. A few dangerous spots near the top on Alum that made me a bit nervous, but worth it. I’m going back many more times & hiking more trails.
Hey guys... those little "cottages" you saw were actually peoples homes. The history of Gatlinburg is really interesting and most of the old log cabins are sitting on the homesteads of the people that first lived there. If you go to Cades Cove you can find several old churches and cemeteries. The first house in Cades Cove has a long rock wall that extends down the property going back out to the road. That wall was actually built by the children of the family. From the age of 3 - adult you worked doing something. The small children couldn't work a plow or cut logs or things like that so their job was to take all of the rocks that were dug up during plowing and stack them in those long walls. Loved your video!! There are some really cool things there.
Thank you so much for the background on those houses Lee Lynn! It's so cool to be able to take a walk back into history with some of the old houses and churches being there. We're so happy you loved our video! Thanks for watching!
Thank you Sara and Paul for the video of the Smokies! My wife and I are heading to the Smokies in a few weeks for the first time. Being from Washington and the Pacific NW, we have seen our share of waterfalls to. We are looking forward to some waterfall and Autumn landscape photography in the Eastern U.S. We are now starting to research the area. Love your videos and your style, they are casual, fun and insightful! We are vegetarians ourselves, all the more reason to follow you. Thanks!
Wow thank YOU Don! We're so happy you guys are enjoying our videos! The Smokies are beautiful this time of year as the leaves start to change. You'll have to check their website to make sure there's no closures of anything you might want to visit. Enjoy the park though! We'd love to go back there this time of year. Thanks for watching! ❤️❤️❤️
I want to thank you so much for taking us along with you. Funny but not so funny side note...I just got back from Gatlinburg vacation with hubby and 15 year old son. We scouted trails and picked grotto falls. On the drive up to the trail head we spotted a bear walking along the side of the road. My son got so terrified because he wasn't expecting it and because we are from Philadelphia 🤣🤣, he wouldn't get out of the car to do the trail. So we never got to see the falls until you took us along. new subscriber , you guys are the best 🥰
Thank you so much for sharing Pheebs! 💓 We've been to Smoky Mountain National Park many times and actually saw a few bears when we were driving along the road. It's a little scary seeing them in real life so we know how he feels! Out of all the times we've hiked there though we haven't seen a bear on trail especially the more popular shorter trails. We're sad that you didn't get to do the hike to Grotto Falls but so happy you got to have the experience anyways! Thanks so much for watching!
I have walked behind both of these waterfalls. The thing about rainbow that isn't apparent from pictures and videos is the scale of it. It's much larger than it seems
Oh yeah! It's always cool to see something with your own eyes to get the real experience. I remember Grotto Falls is a short hike to get to it and Rainbow Falls is a little longer but both are well worth seeing. Thanks for watching! ❤️❤️❤️
Scars from the 2016 first can still be viewed in several locations. We returned to one of our favorite Smoky's trails recently, Chimney Tops, and were sad that the chimneys themselves are currently closed due to instability as a result of the fires. We still had a great hike and got some fun footage for our channel. Love the Smoky's! If you ever make it back, come when the weather is warm, wear "water clothes," and try out Grotto's pool. Refreshing!
If you like to walk behind waterfalls, then you need to go to Dry Falls. It’s on the road between Franklin and Highlands in North Carolina. It will blow your mind!!!
It seems like the pizza we get at every Mellow Mushroom is slightly different but still good! The tempeh rueban also. Glad you enjoyed! The waterfalls were gorgeous! 😊
Thanks so much for the question John! From Gatlinburg we took the beautiful Roaring Fork Road which is a loop that you can drive. There's a lot to see on it and there's a parking lot that you park at to hike to Grotto Falls. Thanks for watching and enjoy the falls. It's so beautiful!
The burned tree is the result of the Gatlinburg wildfire in 2016. It burned the area around the first part of Rainbow Falls trail quite heavily. It’s sad to see all the burned remains but it is growing back nicely.
Thank you so much for some of that backstory on the burned area. It's always so sad to hear about forest fires burning some of our favorite areas. It's nice to hear it's growing back though. Thanks so much for the comment! ❤️
That makes so much sense! Where we live in Florida, ceiling are a light higher to keep the place cooler so the reverse makes sense where it's colder. Thanks so much for commenting!
The trail for Rainbow Falls is about a 5.4 mile roundtrip trail that has about a 1500 foot elevation gain so it can take a bit of time so we'd say maybe 3-5 hours depending on how fast you hike or if you want to take a leisurely break. Grotto Falls is about 2.6 miles roundtrip so maybe estimate about 2-3 hours. Both are well worth it and very different! We always love going back to the Smokies for all of the beautiful trails. Thanks so much for watching Josy!
Thanks so much for the comment Zina! It's called Carr's Cottages in Gatlinburg. We've stayed there every time we visit Smoky Mountains National Park. It's not super luxury but a super cute to come back to after a hard day of hiking. 😊 www.carrscottages.com
Hey 4GFamily, I think you might be talking about the overlook on the Rainbow Falls trail. We got an overlook maybe halfway into the hike or so. Grotto Falls doesn't really have any overlooks but the waterfall is nice!
Awesome! We're jealous because you'll be seeing the park with all the flowers in bloom. Get a trail map and ask the rangers for their favorite hikes. It's hard to go wrong with any of them. We love the Smokies! Enjoy!

What makes me feel alive is also nature, specifically mountains. Same boat with you! I love your hiking and camping videos, my favorites!!

Hooray for waterfalls!!!!! Glad you shared this wonderful adventure!!!!
Thank you so much Freeman! 😁 So glad you enjoyed. Hope you get to go on a hike soon!

Cant wait to do Grotto falls next week!♡♡ Love just love your video!
Thank you so much Sara! 💕 If you can try going on weekdays so there's less people and you can enjoy it all to yourself. It's beautiful! 😊
I love Smokies. Great video as always.
Thanks so much Thomas! Such a beautiful place. 😊
Great video! I'm going to be in the area next week. I'm definitely adding these to my list!
Awesome! The weather should be great this time of year. Enjoy these waterfalls! 😎

That's awesome M&M! We'll have to try that sometime. It was sad to see Chimney Tops closed. We'll be back one day to hopefully see them open!

Thanks so much for the suggestion! We'll have to check it out if when we're in the area again. 😊
I think we have a bunch of Mellow Mushrooms in Fl too. Is it the same as the one your tried there? Pizza looked awesome! I loved the waterfalls!
It seems like the pizza we get at every Mellow Mushroom is slightly different but still good! The tempeh rueban also. Glad you enjoyed! The waterfalls were gorgeous! 😊
Amazing! May I ask, what road did you follow to get to the grotto falls parking lot? I plan to do the grotto falls hike this weekend :)

Cellings and doors were low n those old cabins to conserve heat in the winter

Loving your videos from GSMNP, want to do all those hikes come spring!
Thank you so much Rick and Judy! 😊 It's such a beautiful park! It seems like we could spend a solid year there and not be able to hike every trail.
The vegan pizza at the end, omg!!!!! (: (: (:
Haha! 😋🍕 It's become a tradition of hiking trails and eating pizza after. Good combination!
How long did each hike take you? Going with the family in June and want to see how many hikes we can do in one day.

Jumping out of airplanes 😎🪂🍻🍣🇬🇧
😮 I would've tried that at some point but Sarah said no way! Lol.
