    Thanks for very clear advice. I'm just reading up on plant care before I go into the rabbit hole of buying plants, but I noticed that this video shows 3 of my favourites - BOP, Monstera and Ficus Elastica (all big big leaves)

    • @simpleplanty
      @simpleplanty  2 роки тому +1

      No worries Simon! All very amazing choices - get all 3, you can't go wrong! However, if you're trying to decide, in order of 'easiness' of those 3 (1 being easiest), they would be ordered - 1) Monstera, 2) BOP then 3) Ficus Elastica. Happy to help you if you had any other questions :)

      @@Simon4rings no worries, I'm here to help! Placement is key, once you find the right spot for your plants, you really just have to water them and leave them alone. Get the Monstera if you're concerned, they're real easy plants even if they're not given the brightest lighting conditions!

    I love this plant - have grown it from a teeny tiny plant. It still isn’t the size of yours, after a couple of years. I bought it online, which usually means a small plant because of postage.

      It's seriously such an underrated plant! I found out that they cost an arm and a leg in Canada - we're pretty lucky in that sense ☺️🌱

    I’m in Canada and I’m LOVE with this plant. It’s super expensive over here and very hard to get your hands on.
    I found that it’s much more available in Australia BUT that it’s near impossible to import from!
    If you happen to have any suggestions on importing from Australia I would be forever grateful

      Omg Jacqueline, I just googled 'ficus Shivereana Canada' and you're right, the prices there are exorbitant!!! They're so underrated here and when I first stumbled across it, there were so many in stock at my local nursery in Aus. Ah, unfortunately, due to how far our countries are, don't think it'd be easy to ship it due to the travel time 🤔 I'm sorry I couldn't be of further assistance here!

    Thank you🌿🌿...love from India....so for acculturating perido...what are you recommending, should I repot the plant when I bring it to my home or wait for a month then repot?....

    • @simpleplanty
      @simpleplanty  Рік тому

      No worries at all! Usually as a safer measure, I would reccomend repotting after some time if you are still seeing a lot of growth, but there are most times I would do it immediately after bringing the plant home, so it’s up to you ☺️ hope it helps!

    Why do you have to avoid afternoon sun? Im new to plant care and havent come across that advice yet

    • @simpleplanty
      @simpleplanty  11 місяців тому +1

      hey there! Welcome to the world of plants - usually direct afternoon sun is deemed a little more ‘harsh’, which I guess in concept you could probably ‘feel’ this on your skin yourself ☺️ hope that helps!

    Hi, I just saw your video. I had a few question about this plant. I recently purchased a baby one. Unfortunately, the bottom leaves are all dropping. Any tips as per how to avoirs this… I’m a bit desperate, it’s my 2nd one cause I love it so much ❤ however I can’t seem to be able not to kill it. It’s growing close to a grow light

    • @simpleplanty
      @simpleplanty  Рік тому

      I love it so much too! If you have just bought it and it’s droopy, it’s very likely that it is just acclimating to your place. Did you check the soil and see if it needs watering? Those are two of the common signs of droopy leaves - it should bounce back soon ☺️ Hope that helps!

    • @musicofthesoul101
      @musicofthesoul101 Рік тому +1

      @@simpleplanty I’ve bought it 3 weeks ago. Normally the soil dries out after a week or so. I would try changing the soil but I’m afraid I’ll lose it completely. The previous one I had dropped all her leaves. 😔

    • @simpleplanty
      @simpleplanty  Рік тому

      @@musicofthesoul101 3 weeks does sound like enough time for it to acclimate - you mentioned it’s under a grow light? How long is it kept on and do you have other plants doing well under your grow light?

    • @musicofthesoul101
      @musicofthesoul101 Рік тому +1

      @@simpleplanty yes i have a couple of Hoya close to it. The previous one was next to ruby ficus and for some reason did lost all her leaves and died. But my Ruby is doing amazing next to the window with a grow light on top of it. That ficus Ruby I’ve had for close to a year now

    • @simpleplanty
      @simpleplanty  Рік тому +1

      @@musicofthesoul101 the ruby is extremely similar to the shivereana, and if anything, I care for it in the same manner as my tineke too! Perhaps the last one was subject to root rot unfortunately, but monitor a couple more weeks or so and see how you go. I have had ficus’ look a bit sad for a month and then appear to thrive after they’ve gotten used to it! Good luck ☺️🍀
