This is 100% believable. Phoenix Wright would most likely end up getting hit with a last second request to defend a wrongfully accused person in court especially considering he got tapped for work in the crossover with Professor Layton when Wright and Maya went to London for said game. Makoto Naegi definitely feels like the type to get wrongfully accused of a crime since he was the first accused in Danganronpa Trigger Happy Havoc. Should've known a crossover of both the Ace Attorney and Danganronpa series would've happened at one point since the second game of the latter references the former in its second case. Even if said crossover is a fangame.
That was quite a good case, i like it very much. I also like how the naegi siblings interact very much, specially for their bickering at the end of the case (i kinda imagine now Komaru and Makoto in front of their mother still arguing over the case of the gloves, maybe one of them at the verge of tearing up too...) ... Such pair of siblings... please don't change.
I never played an Ace Attorney game, only watched the entire series, so this mod is my first time playing Ace Attorney and I love it. Just finished case 1 yesterday and can't wait for more! I want to consider the 2 worlds cross-over as canon, and (Spoilers) Of course 'Luck' is what made Makoto proved as innocent, he sure was lucky that he couldn't found his red gloves. The news better be "The Ultimate Lucky Student proved innocent thanks to his Luck skills" 👌👌
seeing that selfie of makoto with kirigiri and togami gave me secondhand happiness, bless up also this was really good! i like how close it mimics the style of dangan in the cgs, and really like how the sprites are animated. one criticism i have is the music cutting off abruptly. i would try to make it fade in and out as one ost jumps to another. other than that, love it so far!!
Just played through the case myself. That was pretty fun! I usually just watch playthoughs of the Ace Attorney games, this was the closest I've gotten to playing one. I'm looking forward to Case 2!
That was SO good! I love that we got to see more of Makoto and Komaru's sibling dynamic, something that we don't get much of in the mainline games. The writing for Phoenix, Payne and the Judge was perfectly in character aswell. The original characters were quite interesting, althought obviously not very fleshed out because this is only the first case. Really interested to see where this project goes!
Spoilers: OH MY FREAKIN GOD THAT WAS SUCH GOOD WRITING!! Those last pieces of evidence felt SO good to figure out and the way the off-handed comments about them stealing each other's things and the random picture that felt irrelevant at the start tied into it, in the end, was incredible. Also, I gotta mention, that the final cross-examination with the Objection mixed with the scrum debate theme was the PERFECT track to use. I've been listening to that guys music for a long time and to see it come into play was awesome ^^ I gotta say, this was mighty difficult somehow all things considered XD I struggled with a few of those cross-examinations. Just a bit rusty at it. Love the hint system, and it really feels just like the og game. Amazing work ^^

Well, it is a tutorial case. If you are familiar with Ace Attorney, you would know that in its tutorials you don't get to investigate, you go straight to the trial. As for Komaru, they did say she was going through all lawyers nearby and Phoenix just happened to agree to defend Makoto.

I see you mastered the Ace Attorney art of "introducing irrelevant evidence that turns out to be relevant later", although I knew the gloves were the center of attention of this picture right away lol. wasn't expecting the color to be the issue though, and the family picture definitely caught me off guard. overall it was a really great case, the music, the art, everything! the character writing is very compelling too, I can't wait to see more Danganronpa characters thrown into the mix, I hope this is not exclusive to the central characters like protagonists and antagonists, I'd love to see someone like Taka, Mondo, Ibuki, Mikan or Miu to name a few. the new character was fun too and was Ace Attorney-like for sure, can't wait to see more original characters as well. I am trying to think of advice to improve future cases, but I don't think there was any issues with this case. one thing I'd like to comment on though is the hint mechanic. I'd like to see the hints being given in more natural creative ways rather than Komaru always saying the same thing and pointing at the line you need to press/present on. I do lik the idea of the optional hints though and I think they really help a lot hen the player is drawing a complete blank or is generally just playing for the story and doesn't feel like twisting his brain to find the solution.

I do wonder how exactly this places into the Danganronpa timeline though. Before the first game where the students get trapped in the whole thing? Would the DR2 cast also be here? At least Ace Attorney wise, the mention of Gaspen would have it between Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice, so maybe Athena can come in if future chapters are made. I think this was a pretty decent first case, it’s somewhat like first cases in Ace Attorney: fast and easy. What I liked about it: - A very good, though kind of inconsistent art style. Everything brims with color and energy - The tab shortcut is very nice and makes the navigation problems a tad bit less inconvenient - They have unique songs that I like -A very good first witness and breakdown. i haven’t seen a breakdown quite like that before in the series, as someone who played the entire trilogy in full. It’s very unique and stands out - Relatively funny at points - Has the spirit of both games -Completely without the wretched hangman’s gambit attached - The already made sprite for the dr games were completely animated. A very cool touch that gives the characters a lot of life. Cons (though I try to be nice and helpful while giving them): - Very annoying to navigate. It doesn’t let you use arrow keys to move up or down, you must use WASD… You need to click on screen to do many things that I could easily do without touching my mouse at all in AA. A very simple way to fix the navigation problem is to try and use the same keys for navigation as AA or the same keys as DR, though I dont know how difficult it would be as I am not a programmer. (Speaking of AA by the way, this is just a suggestion but I would love if you added options for text size, because when I played myself I didn’t find any and I prefer text that is a little smaller) - A lot of repetition in sprites, especially in Phoenix. I understand that they need to repeat sprites sometimes but it just confuses me since there are so many sprites? It got better by the end though - In the first picture of the case, they show a picture of the killer of course but he isn’t wearing those red mittens at all. It his bear hands. First of all, I decided to watch a playthrough of Ultra Despair Girls before going into this, because I hadn't done that yet so I knew nothing about Komaru and now I think you nailed her writing really well. Thanks for the push. The idea of such a crossover is quickly made but the execution is a whole different caliber. The quakity of the new sprites and CGs is amazing. I think its cool that some look more like Phoenix Wright and others more like Danganronpa. I'm looking forward to the next case, I wonder what incident will take place in Hopes Peak. Given this is still a Phoenix Wright Game, I wouldn't say it goes full on Danganronpa Mode with Killing Games, MAMBMT Event of human history and so on but who knows. This could play in an alternate world where the KGs never happen or simple before Danganronpa 1, pherhaps in a way that Phoenix could actually prevent the insanity that is coming if he finds out who organized a certain class room slaughter. Also, I wonder if there is more about the murder in this case, that will be of importance later on. You made me interested. Spoiler Warning It's also going to be fun to see in what way other talents might play a role in this. Mikan proofed she can both help and sabotage stuff for example, there is another lucky guy in Danganronpa, an Imposter, etc... Dunno how much cases you plan to do, I think these games have around 3-4 chapters? There is definitly stuff for many different scenarios. I just found out that Jutaro seems to be a real character from a Spin Off... I see there is much more about Dangan that I didn't cover so far. I wish you the best for this project o/
SPOILERS AHEAD! BE CAREFUL! I love how this case implied/mentioned Makoto's luck influencing the murder just like THH does on the game (Or at least it feels like that). For example when Hifumi is dying, he suddenly wakes up and reveals Celestia's real last name, which later helps out a lot on her being found out as the killer, and it is said by various fans that Makoto's luck was the cause of Hifumi waking up. It also happens on other cases: -Sayaka might not have written her dying message if Makoto wasn't on the game. -Mondo might not have had a slip of the tongue on the class trial. -Makoto gets saved last minute on his execution by Alter Ego after it managed to install a virus on the school system before it was executed on Chapter 4 -On one of the OVAs, Junko tries to kill Makoto by throwing a wrench at him from a long distance, but he ends up slipping on a paper that makes him fall, hence avoiding the hit. It makes it feel like Makoto does have a talent for real in the end and not just the title, that aspect of him is one of the things that most intrigue me about his character.

I'm not going to lie that I found this after messing around after hearing about AA x MLP crossover months ago... oh boy. Here I am again - threading into unknown territory (I have almost zero knowledge about Danganronpa, like I had with MLP but...um, never mind.) Anyways, it was really well made. I'm quite shocked to see how much the technology of AA fangames have evolved...and I feel old. The great hot choccy debate kind of old (as I did not know of Turnabout Storm's existance back then)
You know what would be a great idea for another Ace Attorney/Danganronpa case? Having Phoenix and Makoto defend a serial killer. And by that, I mean having them defend Toko Fukawa for a murder she didn't commit.

(25m) Who kills a mailman anyway...? o.O You'd think murders would be more justified like in a vigilante way or maybe just more personal, but I wonder how close anyone even was to this guy, least of all the defendant being Makoto whose just a high school student, which it's weird even seeing them all together in that group photo there. :p But yeah, it just seems like super random is all. :p Also, wow, I don't know about canon, but another fan game being Nina Aquila just brought up the same build thing with how unlikely it is for the victim to die through conventional means in the second case as well. :O I feel like I could maybe be hearing that a lot. ^^; People who are unlikely to die in some cases when the "killer" is tiny and meek and the victim is some big, tough person or something. :p Oh yeah! I forgot to say that like rather than the person themselves, if it's a matter of trying to stop someone from delivering a certain type of mail to a certain type of person so that they won't receive the news about something than I suppose it could make sense in theory, but that's about it. :p Killing a mailman feels no different from killing a random pizza delivery guy for me though. :? I mean, it might not arguably be the most troubling type of death but it seems so pointless and unconnected too. :p
Sigh... this may be kind of random, but before I found this while googling the idea of it like "AA X DG", I saw other posts that instead of being okay with a crossover of the two or even WANTING it to happen, they want the two separated instead, being biased about which of the two is the better over on Steam and stuff. :p Sigh... it's a good thing my feelings are kind of whatever for the series for the most part, kind of maybe still liking them but not super attached, their just sort of whatever famous series to look back into, or something. :p All the people who defend one series by maybe claiming the other is really bad... sigh... That was great! First of all, I decided to watch a playthrough of Ultra Despair Girls before going into this, because I hadn't done that yet so I knew nothing about Komaru and now I think you nailed her writing really well. Thanks for the push. The idea of such a crossover is quickly made but the execution is a whole different caliber. The quakity of the new sprites and CGs is amazing. I think its cool that some look more like Phoenix Wright and others more like Danganronpa.
I'm looking forward to the next case, I wonder what incident will take place in Hopes Peak. Given this is still a Phoenix Wright Game, I wouldn't say it goes full on Danganronpa Mode with Killing Games, MAMBMT Event of human history and so on but who knows. This could play in an alternate world where the KGs never happen or simple before Danganronpa 1, pherhaps in a way that Phoenix could actually prevent the insanity that is coming if he finds out who organized a certain class room slaughter. Also, I wonder if there is more about the murder in this case, that will be of importance later on. You made me interested.

It's also going to be fun to see in what way other talents might play a role in this. Mikan proofed she can both help and sabotage stuff for example, there is another lucky guy in Danganronpa, an Imposter, etc... Dunno how much cases you plan to do, I think these games have around 3-4 chapters? There is definitly stuff for many different scenarios. I just found out that Jutaro seems to be a real character from a Spin Off... I see there is much more about Dangan that I didn't cover so far.

I love how this case implied/mentioned Makoto's luck influencing the murder just like THH does on the game (Or at least it feels like that). For example when Hifumi is dying, he suddenly wakes up and reveals Celestia's real last name, which later helps out a lot on her being found out as the killer, and it is said by various fans that Makoto's luck was the cause of Hifumi waking up.
It also happens on other cases:
-Sayaka might not have written her dying message if Makoto wasn't on the game.
-Mondo might not have had a slip of the tongue on the class trial.
-Makoto gets saved last minute on his execution by Alter Ego after it managed to install a virus on the school system before it was executed on Chapter 4
-On one of the OVAs, Junko tries to kill Makoto by throwing a wrench at him from a long distance, but he ends up slipping on a paper that makes him fall, hence avoiding the hit.
It makes it feel like Makoto does have a talent for real in the end and not just the title, that aspect of him is one of the things that most intrigue me about his character.

I'm not going to lie that I found this after messing around after hearing about AA x MLP crossover months ago...

Anyways, it was really well made.
I'm quite shocked to see how much the technology of AA fangames have evolved...and I feel old.

You know what would be a great idea for another Ace Attorney/Danganronpa case? Having Phoenix and Makoto defend a serial killer. And by that, I mean having them defend Toko Fukawa for a murder she didn't commit.

Who kills a mailman anyway...? o.O You'd think murders would be more justified like in a vigilante way or maybe just more personal, but I wonder how close anyone even was to this guy, least of all the defendant being Makoto whose just a high school student, which it's weird even seeing them all together in that group photo there. :p But yeah, it just seems like super random is all. :p
Also, wow, I don't know about canon, but another fan game being Nina Aquila just brought up the same build thing with how unlikely it is for the victim to die through conventional means in the second case as well. :O
I feel like I could maybe be hearing that a lot. ^^; People who are unlikely to die in some cases when the "killer" is tiny and meek and the victim is some big, tough person or something. :p
Oh yeah! I forgot to say that like rather than the person themselves, if it's a matter of trying to stop someone from delivering a certain type of mail to a certain type of person so that they won't receive the news about something than I suppose it could make sense in theory, but that's about it. :p Killing a mailman feels no different from killing a random pizza delivery guy for me though. :? I mean, it might not arguably be the most troubling type of death but it seems so pointless and unconnected too. :p

Sigh... this may be kind of random, but before I found this while googling the idea of it like "AA X DG", I saw other posts that instead of being okay with a crossover of the two or even WANTING it to happen, they want the two separated instead, being biased about which of the two is the better over on Steam and stuff. :p
Sigh... it's a good thing my feelings are kind of whatever for the series for the most part, kind of maybe still liking them but not super attached, their just sort of whatever famous series to look back into, or something. :p All the people who defend one series by maybe claiming the other is really bad... sigh... I don't care about that at all, and now I feel like I have to see the two together. :p
(Not sure how much Danganronpa fans were saying Ace Attorney were bad, but some Ace Attorney fans on Steam were definitely saying Danganronpa was bad... Sigh... whatever, I don't want to talk about stupid fans anymore... let's see what we got here. :p).
