- Right, sorry about that, Idk how I ended up not uploading this when I'm fairly sure I did (damn Internet Explorer)....Anyways, the first of 3 featured branch lines, 'The Halesowen branch'
Coming up next, the Southwell Branch
The old longbridge station building has been completely demolished since 2012
I'm Halesowen born and bred. I've seen lots of photos of the railway but didn't realize this footage existed. Wonderful.
Halesowen may have lost its railway, Tina, but it hasn't lost you xxx
Truly historic footage ! Thank you for posting this video for us .
Wow that's one of my favourite walks . I was looking at was left of the viaduct just before x mas. my elder brothers used to play on that viaduct before it was demolished. dowry dell viaduct :)))
i was gutted when they tore down the train sation at longbrigde a few years back
I remember seeing a picture of it in the pub at Halesowen
I am modeling this branch in OO guage. (Rubery) Good piece of film but the narration is incorrect. The Level crossing is Holly Hill Lane (Rubery) and not Frankley M6 Services. Also the line from Halesowen to Lonbridge closed January 1964 with the line from Oldhill to Halesowen closing in around 1970. Only the stub end into the longbridge remained untill the area was redeveloped.
Old Hill to Halesowen closed in 1969, while the Longbridge stub closed in 2005.
yeah I went passed the site of longbridge spur towards longbridge car factory great shame to see it abandoned
Sorry to be picky, but its the M5 not M6. The line crosses the M5 south of Frankley services further up the hill, and in slowmoving heavy traffic, you can still look and see the line to the east of the M5 (well you could a few years back. It hasn't been slow enough traffic lately to risk a look!)
