Great video Dave ! I have just bought an MT 10 after 2.5 years and 40,000 klm on a ZX 14 and its exactly as you describe it... the Mt 10 feels unstable and twitchy , compared to the big ZX which is like a train on a track ...and i swear the MT 10 feels like an XR 400 or something...lol im only 2000 klm in on the MT but am really liking it and its nimbleness and power ! even though it seemed unstable and twichy its not , and handles all the crap damaged roads i ride on easily ...i just have to get used to it ...its my do everything bike , but i really miss the big ZX and will probably do as yourself and get another one... lol MIne was a Gen 1 and i stacked it at 100 kph on a slippery wet road ( TC would have saved me from crashing ) ...cheers from Australia

The MT and ZX are both brilliant bikes in their respective swim lanes. I did end up selling both and got a new Ducati Streetfighter V2...

Haven't commented in a while. Any video with wheelstands gets a thumbs up from me plus it is a tradition with Yamaha. You are correct about stock gearing being in-the-attic. I am active in the Royal Enfield 650s sites and lots of the riders are going from a 15T countershaft sprocket to a 16-tooth; gearing UP a 47hp 470 pound bike, I have quit arguing with them...
Both the MT-10 and the Kawa seem a lot happier with the new final drive ratio. I didn't realize the ECU could detect certain sprocket changes (on some bikes) so thanks for the heads up on that. Fred

Think about the typical Royal Enfield owner, and they are like a lot of Triumph Bonneville owners.. New riders, or older riders, but typically not fast riders... who want it to be more lazy and get better gas mileage. They are cruiser guys, so performance isn't on their radar.
Hell, you can hear half of them talking about how fast the bike is, and those of us with bikes making double and triple the power are kinda scratching our heads...

@@SquireSCA yessir. I have put an S&S cam and Weisco pistons in my 2020 Interceptor for 743cc. It is maybe 59hp, totally different but I will retain stock gearing. I still have my 2020 Speed Twin 1200 but at age 73 it is all I can handle.

    Bonjour,
