      I know it's been a few years, I bought my 2016 Fusion SE 2.5l with the tech and cold weather package brand new for 18k. It only has 67k miles and runs great! I've taken care of the interior even with two little kids. I bought it in December 2015, and plan on keeping it for many more years. Perfect for a family of 4.

      There's talks about them turning the Mondeo platform into a wagon to compete with the Outback, and it looks amazing! I hope Ford goes though with it, because I love my Fusion and hate to see a amazing American car get cancelled. Premium feel for a midsized wallet.

    I bought mine used a year ago, 2017 SE 1.5L with 78k miles, for 15.5k and I love the hell out of it. I know the mileage is high, but in that time it's obviously mostly highway miles. Some of my favorite features that they didn't mention are that if the car is in auto-off mode and you hit the ignition, it automatically puts it in park for you, as well as if you're at a stop with the engine running in drive gear and you open the door; it automatically puts the car into park to prevent roll-aways! Don't even get me started on that upper LED trim for the headlights, I still just look at it in awe, combined with that grill; it looks SO FUCKING MEAN. 10/10 I wouldn't trade this car of mine for anything else.

    Picked up a 2017 Titanium loaded with huge discount. Comfortable, practical, and very quick with the 2.0 Eco-boost. Technology is clearly laid out and user-friendly. A similarly equipped BMW or MB would cost at least $10k to $15k more. If you're not hung up on status, I would highly recommend. Re-sale value sucks, but I plan on driving it for a decade so not an issue.

    I have done some research on reliability. There are a fairly large number of reliability complaints. However, given the large sales volumes, this is to be expected. By far, a dead battery is the leading complaint. People having this problem state they believe some module is turning on power after they leave the car. That makes sense. As the problem seems to be identified, Ford fix should be coming soon, or may already have been done.
    As I stated, another very common reliability complaint is the window bounce back. If you are still having this issue, google Ford tech bulletins. They give the dealer the fix for this issue. Insist the dealer perform this procedure. The first time around, I was given the run around by a service tech who pushed the button up and down a few times. That is not a permanent fix. There are five tech bulletins on window bounce back for the 2017 Fusion.
    Just used adaptive cruise control for the first time. A great feature. It keeps your car 3 lengths behind the car in front of you. If it slows, the Fusion brakes to keep it at 3 lengths. Then speeds back up to your set speed. Don’t know if that’s engine braking or the brakes. I wasn’t paying attention and didn’t see the car in front of me slow down. Glad I had it on. Seems to go on automatically with cruise control.

      Paul Stein no issues with my 2016 Fusion yet, I found out myself the battery will die if you leave stuff plugged into the cigarette lighter such as a gps or phone charger. If unplugged when you get out the battery doesn’t discharge.

    I have a 2013 Fusion and I'm not a huge fan of the refresh. I loved the lines and especially the taillights on the pre-refresh model a lot more. Also not in love with the rotary shift knob, but the infotainment looks like a big upgrade both onscreen and on the buttons in the dash.

      i think the fusion in general is just kind of ugly. the tail lights on the new fusion seems like a big upgrade to me when compared to the old model, but the front end is still horribly ugly. how can ford make the focus and fiesta look so nice but yet the fusion so ugly. but that's just my opinion.

      Or buy a new one and keep it until the wheels come off. I bought a new fully-loaded '13 Fusion Titanium and I agree that the value has taken a hit, but it doesn't bother me as I am not planning on selling it. I just love the car and wouldn't trade it for any other. I just keep in running and looking better than all the new ones.

      For the buy and keep for 10 years buyer, not a consideration at all. My last 5 new cars were 3 Hondas, one Acura, one Toyota. They couldn’t match the ride of my 2017 Fusion. 6 cyl 2001 Accord was excellent though. Wish I kept that Accord, Don’t miss the others.

      That's what I did. Bought a 2016 titanium that was a year old with 20k on it and it and up to almost 50k now with no big issues 2 years later. It was $21,000. A good 10k less than new and still in good shape. Got it certified preowned and shelled out for the warranty to cover me to 2023.
      Only thing I've had to do is general maintenance, did the 30k mileage full fluid change and it needed new rear brakes because I do a lot of stop and go in the city.

      Ponygt 662 oh it's far from offensive. I'm just more shocked at how I thought this would be better. The Malibu by far is the ugliest car ive seen.

    • @swanblake
      @swanblake 8 років тому

      Ponygt 662 fair enough. The only problem I have with the malibu is its deformed catfish face. Everyone I talk to feel the same but to each there own.

      @swanblake 8 років тому +2

      Ponygt 662 yeah the malibu I think is up there with the accord and mazda6 as my favorites in the segment but I sadly value looks for when Im paying $30k+. If GM made the Malibu look more like the Cruze, I would have nothing negative to say about it. The Malibu reminds me of the Juke it is that puke worthy. The segment is too competitive to have a car that ugly

    My dad has a Ford Fusion. It's a fine car but one of the most annoying things about it (besides the awful visibility and cheap interior) is how low the truck is. I don't know why this car isn't a lift back. It's very cumbersome trying to put anything in that trunk. Or maybe I'm just really tall

    Confusing stats. CR gives 2017 very poor reliability scores. Prior years were good. Other sources give Fusion high marks. I have the Platinum model. Very happy with it. Did have the window bounce back issue. Corrected by insisting dealer fix per technical bulletin.

    Turn dial transmission shift...how about a single Nintendo joystick to steer? That dial shift totally takes away any sport of this car no matter how many sport badges you put on it. I'll keep my 2013 or opt for another brand.

    At least Ford is starting to add automatic transmission options other than their terrible Powershift/Selectshift dual clutch systems. My 2013 Focus Titanium was on its 3rd set of clutches by the time I traded it in for a 10th gen Civic. That transmission was nothing but problems. I probably would have kept it if it had a standard automatic system.

    • @oldtwins
      @oldtwins 8 років тому

      Interesting, considering how many see a dual clutch setup to be infinitely more desirable than a regular auto trans. I guess only Ford can screw up something great. Make you wonder what will happen to all their "high tech" turbo engines too.

    • @TheMediaGuy
      @TheMediaGuy 8 років тому

      oldtwins I'm sure dual clutch systems are fine when you're in control, but with Ford's system it's actually an automated manual. Imagine driving a manual shifted by a computer that doesn't know what it's doing. It was horrific.

    I have a 2007 fusion SEL 3 L v6 have had it for going on 12 years ,it s the best car I have had to date and from what is being said here regards gas mileage my 2007 beats the 2017! Not a fan of turbo any kind a car it is just more "plumbing" to go wrong and all turbos give problems after a few years it is ok if you keep a car 2 years and trade it but that's not the way I roll.

    First off the thing that I would like to say about the Ford fusion… How I got its name… Hermosillo Mexico, and an STD outbreak stumped from there to Kansas City, Missouri obviously my opinion and my opinion… The cover-up and retaliation mode by Gonzalez, and the opportunity for them to flourish to try and push blame on an American… it was in the works about four years after the event took place in the late 80s but it’s so Mexico responsibility and their carelessness that caused the actions.

    I think the Energi is quite unique in the segment. Every company now offers a Hybrid version of their midsize cars, but other than the Sonata, no other offers the ability to actually plug in. Yes the trunk is laughable, but at least interior space isn't compromised by a giant battery occupying the middle seat (ahemVoltcoughPriusPrimeahem).
    The Optima and Mazda 6 are probably better cars in my eyes, but neither can get 40mpg+ or offer EV capability.
